How many characters do you have?

I often see people only having like 1 character. Is it unusual to have more than one? Also, I see people saying in the world chat to not join their faction if you aren't on your main character. I have like 4 characters, so is this generally looked down on?

I have 1 of every class, of which I play only 1 actively on a regular basis.

Usually I play 1 other randomly, depending on my mood, after i'm done on my main.

People often time have lots of characters. Because it is expensive and time consuming to have equal gear on all your characters, people usually have the best gear on their "main" character. The one they started with, or the one they like playing the most. Let's say your main character is g16, +5 refines. You start a new duskblade character, it is only lvl 50, top factions that are active in tw will prefer your main character. Factions that are not very active in tw would rather that you join tw no matter what your character is (they are in it for the fun).

I have 7 characters. I don't even know if they still *exist*.

I used to have upwards of 3-4 characters created for each class for writing the guides, plus my 4 mains and 7 alts. Now I've got around 15-20 not counting storage or shops.

I had few characters. My main was Wizard always.

Most of quests, including bh I had done in solo mode.

When ToS allowed to use dual-client, I had created Cleric.

For test I had created few low-level characters, but I didn't like to play other classes.

I think its pretty common to have more than one. I have three characters I play regularly, two of which I consider "mains". I have about 10 others that see varying light of day and all share gear.

If you trust trolls, though, I have over 500 accounts filled with characters. Evil-Eirghan is incredibly talented.

before the post earthguard content i played my army of alts very closely. the group of friends who got me playing this game also had 3-4 main alts and we switched depending on what our lil faction/squads needed. i really dislike playing only one main since my TW toon is psychic; hard to farm and do stuff pre NW with arcane and no caster vana.

i have a cleric, sin, bm, and seeker i consider my primary alts. they are all 100+ and 2 are rb1, but with the way the game is 90% daily now and those dailies are basically required to stay competitive, i realyl dont have alts anymore. they are just lil works in progress until i find the time to gear them up (still have not made a g16 set, lack of time to run FWS or spend the coin)

i think for factions, they normally want active people and not an alt that will hardly log on. now that its so hard to maintain multiple toons (unless you were smart and made them on separate accounts) due to the amount of dailies you HAVE to complete, it is even more of an issue to try and join with an alt. i usually keep my alts in a dead faction i have officership in so i can do basequest on them whenever but aside from that they all just serve as banks while i march to SSX.

I have one of each, and all apart from wiz(98), storm(96) and dusk(96) are rb2. My 'mains' are sin, cleric and bm I play these all equally. The rest are 'alts' that I play when I feel like, gears account stashable so not too expensive and more fun less boring with a choice :D

I have two chars, one is my main on EU server, and one alt at east coast server, mostly 'cause english isn't spoken enough in EU server (I'm not a native speaker, but I'm not russian or french or german either lol)

I had many more, but with my nasty habit of deleting alts I don't use, I'm down to main and 1 alt. ^^

I have a veno main and cleric who share my same gear so its not even really like an alt to me. I have a few other characters i made but that was really to try out other classes and i don't play them anymore. I also have very little motivation when it comes to leveling and gearing an alt which is why I put my cleric on the same account as my veno.
Veno is love. Veno is life.

roughly about 27 to 32 chars, spread across three accounts,3 of those chars being the most powerful

about 5 or 6 of those are mules

all of my chars however are an exploration of a different theme

they all have complicated names in different languages which mean different things

thought because of the severe age of my oldest account, there has been abit of a problem since my return afew months ago.i like many people of the day in 2012,bought plenty of fc runs.this wasnt a moral matter merely one of efficiency,as at the time i needed supply delivery mules quite badly

this of course has caused a number of incompletes so called

Your query concerning why factions don't appreciate alts:
If they are a TW guild, and you never show up for TW because you attend on your main in your main's guild, it is a problem for the new faction. Optimally, any TW-ready faction wants 200 players that are all individuals, who are ready to show up for TW when it is called for. Sure, only 80 can go, but a 3-hour charm-**** can cause attrition and it's good to have reserves.

Another issue in a similar vein is PvP. If your main's guild is a proponent of PvP and actively seeks it, they don't want you showing up on an alt on the opposition's side. It isn't always an issue of "spying", but I've seen many instances where a main guild PKs someone from the same guild's alt (from another opposing guild) and the dead/offended party gets pissy because not everyone knows who everyone's alts are. In some cases they don't care. In a truly perfect world it doesn't matter, because it's a game and people shrug and laugh it off. However, many times I've had to mediate issues between faction members where one party is ignorant of everyone's alternative characters, or where someone just doesn't care. This also has happened in Nation Wars, which I truly don't understand, since in the original NW, it's Nation vs. Nation, and I'm not going to let you capture the flag if it means I get a lot fewer tokens.

Regardless of how many mains/alts you may have, someone, somewhere is going to recognize the alts as belonging to a specific person, no matter how stealthy the owner is about it. Feelings/egos can be hurt and people get angry if they think they are being singled out or deceaved. Human nature.

Now, there are cases of people who've given their creds to others because they don't play much anymore or not at all. I am not naming names, nor am I placing blame, though this is strongly discouraged by PWI's TOS. Those characters become alts, as well. They can become rolling negative issues. In the wrong hands this is bad heaped on bad. But that is for another post.

As for me, I have three accounts with full rosters, not including my shops/banks. Why? In my opinion one of the best ways to learn how to beat a specific class is to learn that class. I hated sins, until I built one and love playing it, and it taught me what to do when attacked by one and the best wasy to counter those attacks. In other cases, I have two of the same class, usually on different accounts - one sage, one demon - just to check the strengths and weaknesses of each. If I really don't care for, say veno in demon-form (mostly because sage veno was my original main and is pretty much effortless for me), I just don't play that char anymore, or use it to open instances.

Regardless, I and all of my alt characters are alts of Eoria. Because she has thousands of alts, according to rumors, and I just happen to be one of her lesser alts.

This post is brought to you by the Eoria for Cross-server Nation Wars Commander Initiative.

Since I started in 2008' I had maxed out to '28+characters' on (4-servers) "as the game had grew out & expanded" but after the merger happened, I had some redundent characters that I no longer needed (or wanted) since I had better leveled & equipped characters (of the same classes) from the different servers now all on the merged servers lists, so I deleted some of the least leveled & geared ones, but also kept some of the others and turned them and some of my oldest retired characters from 08' & such into just 'k'shop's, storage, or farmer chari's' so right now I have 24 on (3-servers) with around 1/3rd of them being (farmer/shop/pack horse(mule)) character's...

15 chars sum up but I play only 9(on 2 accounts, 5+4). I switch them every 20days(exp buff) so every day I play(do dailies) 5 chars, 2-3 chars per account. Most of dailies, except BHs get done on 2 chars at once(one kills, other follows).

I have 10 characters I actively play, on rotation.
I usually focus playing on one or two at a time, while the others are on break.
7 of them are twice re-awakened, 2 once reawakened and 1 is still in the process of getting to 100 for the first time.

I have about 3 characters that are geared up.
My main of course which is fully geared ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
The other with old gear of my main, and an aps sin that I've totally neglected and never bothered to get back to 100 after they introduced reawakening XD.
For some reason I get bored when I'm not on my main, maybe I'm too spoiled haha. I just enjoy PvP more than PvE, hench why I barely play the other toons, since they're too squish for PvP.
