A general Venomancer pet guide for all your Venomancer pet needs.

This is the new and improved pet guide, a collection of information, links and resources about pets. A lot of useful pet threads became outdated, links were broken, topics were lost in the forum migration. The point of this guide is to collect everything and put them together so that Venomancers can use this for pet-related needs without having to search for multiple sources.

Venomancer's Pet Skills
Tame Pet
The Tame skill is received at level 7, after a Venomancer successfully proves herself to the Pet Skill Trainer of the City of the Lost. From this point on the Venomancer must use the Tame skill to capture monsters as pets, by weakening the monster considerably and performing the Tame spell. The lower the opponent's HP, the higher the probability the Tame will be successful. Every 10 levels this spell can be upgraded to improve the chance of a successful tame by 5%.

Tame-able monsters will have an icon next to their name:
2015-06-24%2017-13-34_zpsnunwkz1t.png~original

Green means the monster is easily tame-able.
Yellow means the monster is harder to tame.
Red means your Venomancer's level is too low to tame the monster.

Heal Pet
During battle a pet might receive damage from an enemy and therefore will need healing if the HP drops too low. It is important the pet does not die, as upon each death the loyalty of the pet drops 20%. The Heal Pet skill can be upgraded every 10 levels in order to increase the amount of HP healed and reduce channeling and cooldown.

Revive Pet
In the instance that the pet does die, it must be resurrected before it can be called back to battle again. The Revive Pet skill will bring the pet back to life and enable to the pet to be called onto the battlefield. This skill can be upgraded every 10 levels, in order to raise the amount of HP initially restored to the pet. To revive multiple pets, the Venomancer will have to use Revive Pet multiple times.

Raising Pets - Loyalty
Pet bag can be accessed by pressing P or from here:

Once a pet is hatched and summoned, it must be fed in order to prevent the pet's loyalty from dropping, and to ensure that the loyalty increases. Different pets eat different families of food, while specific kinds of food within those families will raise the pet's loyalty by greater or lesser amounts. The families are: Meat, Water, Hay, Fruit, and Greens. Basic pet food can be bought from the Pet Manager. One can be found in every big city. Additionally, you can make Perfect Cookies using Tokens of Luck. Perfect Cookies can be fed to every pet (with the exception of the evolved Windwalking Piggy) and raise their Loyalty by 200 points.

Buying and equipping a Mystical Tome will keep your pet fed forever. Then you won't need to feed your pet anymore, unless it dies and loses Loyalty.

To find out how loyal your pet is, hover over its Icon in your pet window.
2015-06-24%2017-52-44_zpsyp4dimgu.png~original

There are 4 tiers of loyalty for your pet:
Name Loyalty Dmg EXP
Savage 0 - 50 60% 10%
Wild 51 - 150 80% 50%
Tame 151 - 500 100% 100%
Loyal 501+ 120% 150%

Buying and Upgrading Pet Skills
Pets, when tamed, come with a set of skills. Sometimes there is only one, like the starting pet, or four skills. Four is the maximum number of skills one pet can have. Obviously, not all skills the pets come with suit everyone's playing style and sometimes adding new skills or deleting old ones to add new ones is essential for the performance of the pet.

Pet skills can be brought from two NPC located in Archosaur, Mrs Zoologist (587 620) and Mr Zoologist (586 649). The latter is underwater and is commonly used to teach water pets skills, because water pets can only be summoned underwater. Prices of the pet skills are between 150,000 coins to 300,000 coins depending on the skill. Pet skills can also be bought in the Auction House (sold by other players) and I highly recommend it as you will often find the pet skills for a lower price than those at the Mrs Zoologist.

Pet skills can be upgraded every 20 levels and there are 5 levels in total for most skills (some skills may have have only 2 levels). Level 1 of each skill can be taught to any pet under level 20. Level 2 of each skill can be taught to any pet under level 40. Level 3 of each skill can be taught to any pet under level 60. Level 4 of each skill can be taught to any pet under level 80 and, finally, level 5 of each skill can to taught to any pet of level 80 and above. Therefore, the core levels for upgrading pet skills are 20, 40, 60 and 80. In order to upgrade a pet's skill a Tame Book is required. A tame book can be bought at any Zoologist for 200,000 coins. An important note that shall be mentioned here is that there are pets who appear to have skills that normally their level range wouldn't allow them to have. Such pet is the Lunar Wolf that comes with Howl level 5 despite being below level 80.
If one wishes to remove an existing skill from a pet, a Forget Scroll is required. A forget scroll can be bought at any Zoologist for 100,000 coins.

Pet Skill scrolls that can be bought at Zoologists are the following: (description of each skill is for maxed level)

Bash: Launch a fierce strike at the enemy, dealing 200% of Pet's base physical damage.
Flesh Ream: Bite an enemy, inflicting base damage plus 200% of Pet's base damage over 9 seconds.
Fireball: Hurl a fireball at the enemy, inflicting Fire damage equal to 200% of Pet's base physical damage.
Icicle: Throw an icicle at the enemy, inflicting Water damage equal to 200% of Pet's base physical damage.
Toxic Mist: Cast a fog of toxin on the enemy, inflicting Wood damage equal to 200% of Pet's base physical damage.
Thunderbolt: Launch a thunderbolt at the enemy, inflicting Metal damage equal to 200% of Pet's base physical damage.
Sandblow: Cast a blow of sand to the enemy, inflicting Earth damage equal to 200% of Pet's base physical damage.
Roar: Roar to attract enemy's attacks.
Howl: Scare the enemy with a howl, decreasing enemy's Magic Defense by 36% for 15 secs.
Pierce: Attack enemy and decrease enemy's Physical Defense by 36% for 15 secs.
Threaten: Threaten enemy to decrease enemy's Physical Attack by 36% for 15 secs.
Shriek: Shriek at an enemy to have a 100% chance to interrupt channeling.
Slow: Decrease enemy speed by 50% for 6 secs.
Tough: Reduce damage taken by 50% for 15 secs.
Boost: Recover 12% of Maximum HP.

There are some rare pet skills that are referred to as Legendary Pet Skills. Those are rare pet skill scrolls that can be found in the weekly event Temple of the Dragon. There is a chance to get a scroll by digging the chests. Usually players will put them in the Auction House for sale but be aware that these skills are expensive and prices can be between 5 million to 20 million coins.

Legendary Pet Skill scrolls are the following: (description of each skill is for maxed level)

Pounce: Have a 80% chance to stun enemy for 3 secs. Increase attack rate by 25% for 15 secs if enemy is stunned.
Bloodthirst: Drain enemy life equal to 25% of Pet's Maximum HP, restoring Pet's life.
Bloodhunger: Absorb enemy's life equal to half of Pet's missing HP, restoring Pet's life. (Bloodthirst required)
Consume: Drain mana from the enemy equal to 25% of Pet's Maximum HP, restoring Pet's life.
Devour: Absorb enemy's mana equal to half of Pet's missing HP, restoring Pet's life. (Consume required)
Sacrifice: Lose 75% of current HP to inflict 400% of Pet's base physical damage to an enemy.
Penetrate: A fierce attack which inflicts 800 damage, neglecting target's defense.
Reflect: Reflect 70% of melee damage taken for 1 hour.
Claw: Increase Pet's base physical damage by 30% for 1 hour.
Protect: Increase Pet's Magic Defense by 150% for 1 hour.
Strong: Increase Pet's Physical Defense by 150% for 1 hour, but reduces Evasion to 0.
Blessing of the Pack: Increase Pet's Maximum HP by 30% for 1 hour.

Some Legendary Pet Skills can be bought from the Faction Base at Heavenly Vault. They are not trade-able and are typically more expensive than regular Legendary Pet Skills (although this depends on how much other players sell the skills) but are are little stronger. These can only be taught to pets level 80 or above.

Pet Vitality Scroll: Increase Pet's Maximum HP by 35% for 1 hour.
Pet Reflection Scroll: Reflect 80% of melee damage taken for 1 hour.
Pet Aggressiveness Scroll:Increase Pet's base physical damage by 30% for 1 hour.
Pet Protection Scroll: Increase Pet's Magic Defense by 180% for 1 hour.
Pet Fortitude Scroll: Increases Physical Defense by 180% for 1 hour.

2. Types of Pets
Pets come in different forms and shapes. They also have different abilities. It's important to use the right pet for the right job.

Physical Tanking
Air pets are not, in general, strong physical tanks. None of the categories have good growth for this type of situation. If you plan on doing a lot of air-based tanking, look for a Windwalking Piggy, a Baby Blazing Phoenix, a Harpy or a Monkey King. The last three are legendary pets and the Monkey is a PvP oriented pet, more so than the Phoenix, so if your budget is low you may want to simply stick to the Piggy.

On the ground, Magmites and Glacial Walkers have very good Physical Defense and Attack growth, allowing them to keep the mob's attention while mitigating much of the damage; magic defense is, however, quite weak. For pure physical tanking, these really are the best choice without going for a legendary pet. The Shaodu Cub and the Armored Bear are quite good at tanking as well but the Walker is the slightly better option. The Baby Hercules is the ultimate tank but it's a legendary pet.

In the water, Turtles make the best pets for a physical tanking job until the Plumpfish at level 80 or the evolved Baby Hercules (Celestial Giant) at level 100. Other legendary pets are decent too.

Magic Tanking
For the air, the Gray Waspkin group does the best but the Windwalking Piggy is also decent. The Baby Blazing Phoenix, the Monkey King and the Harpy are also good, with the Harpy having the edge.

Carapests, Antelopes and the Frogling have the best Magical Defense on the ground, though Carapests have slightly more HP and Antelopes deal significantly more damage. It's still worth mentioning the Baby Hercules since its buffs will enable it to tank magic quite well too. The Monkey is also decent. The Harpy is overall the better choice though.

Frost Undines have the best Magic Defense in the water. The Monkey is a decent choice while the Harpy is the overall better choice.

Note that the majority of monsters and bosses that deal magic damage at range will resort to using physical attacks at melee range therefore magic tanking isn't really so important or necessary. Players usually pick a good physical tank pet (Glacial Walker or Baby Hercules) and stick with that.

Ranged Tanking
There are pets that are able to deal ranged damage which makes them ideal for pulling/luring and range tanking, among other things. Monsters and bosses will sometimes deal less damage at range and in some situations ranged tanking has the simple advantage of being...ranged.

Popular pets for ranged tanking are the Eldergoth Marksman and/or the Eldergoth Sharpshooter. Any kind of cancti pets are also ranged but they are usually used as pulling/luring pets than actual tanks due to their lower stats. Higher level cacti pets Celestial Sting and Ethereal Inamorato are also able to evolve.

Keep in mind that the above mentioned pets only use range when they are auto-attacking so you have to make sure their skills are turned off. If you want to them to use a skill attack, they'll run into melee range. These pets are also available for the ground combat only.

The legendary pet Harpy is another ranged pet which, unlike the ones mentioned previously, she can deal ranged damage with both auto-attacks and skill attacks. The Harpy has no melee skills. She's also able to swim and fly so she has the advantage of being an all-environment pet as well.

Damage Dealing
The Blue Waspkin group provide the best attack increases of the common air pets. They all have Bash and Toxic Mist, which provide frequent DPS additions to their auto attack. The Petite Sawfly is the slightly superior one in terms of stats and it can also evolve at level 100. The Cloud Skatefish is a good option too but it cannot evolve. The Monkey King, Baby Blazing Phoenix and Harpy are all great choicea as DD pets with the Harpy having the edge in damage and DPS.

Magmites, Glacial Walkers and the Scorpions have all got good offensive growth and you may already be using one or two of these as tanks. All pets mentioned above are able to evolve. One of the most popular choices is the Dark Wanderer pet which can also evolve and it has decent physical defence too. At level 101 the Derjan's Hatchling is available. It is able to evolve and it's considered the best non-legendary DD pet. The evolved Baby Blazing Phoenix, the Monkey and the Harpy are amazing DD pets with the Harpy, once again, being the best choice.

There's no winner in the water as far as free pets are concerned; stick with a Turtle or Water Undine. Turtles have better survivability, but move more slowly and tend to block your view. Evolved Baby Hercules, evolved Baby Blazing Phoenix, the Monkey King or the Harpy are great choices too.

Luring/Pulling
In the air, everything's about the same as far as movement goes, so don't take up another pet bag slot with a puller.

On land, ranged Eldergoth and cacti pets make decent pullers. Minkiis have reasonably good movement speed and make a decent alternative to a ranged puller; investing in a Kowlin would be a good idea once you hit level 60 if this is your preferred type of puller. The Ninetail Firefox, the Tabby Plumpdrop, the Cuddly Pup and the variety of Petalii pets are also decent choices.

Merfolk are the fastest swimmers and make decent pullers, but again, not usually worth the pet bag slot just for pulling.

The Harpy is the superior luring pet for being both ranged and an all-environment pet from level 1. Of course, investing into a Harpy just for pulling isn't a smart choice. Any ranged or fast pet will do the job.

Debuffer/Support
Any of the tanking pets will be a good choice here due to their ability to survive, but DD oriented pets are also great choices.

Situations requiring debuffs will also generally be in instances or on the ground, so don't fill your pet bag slots with air/water utility pets, especially not if you're able to get any of the legendary pets. The Baby Hercules and Baby Blazing Phoenix become all-terrain pets after evolution. The Harpy and the Monkey King don't count since they have exclusive skills which once erased, they can no longer be obtained/taught again.

Debuff/Support pet skills include Howl, Pierce, Shriek, Threaten and Pounce. All of them, except for Pounce, can be obtained at the Zoologist NPCs.

PvP
Nowadays most free pets cannot survive well enough to be worth using in PvP. Perhaps the evolved Windwalking Piggy, the evolved Petite Sawfly, the evolved Dark Wanderer, the evolved Cuddly Pup and the evolved Darjan's Hatchling may be worth checking out but don't expect too much from them.

The choice will usually boil down to the Baby Blazing Phoenix or the Monkey King. The Phoenix is a lot cheaper than the Monkey so most people will opt for that but those who are more serious about PvP or have the ability to spend the coin, will go for the Monkey.

While both pets are decent, the Monkey has superior Inherit stats after evolution and it also comes with a more useful skill set for PvP compared to the Phoenix.

Note that both of them might need buff skills like Protect and/or Strong to increase their survivablity and there's certain Mood skills that come into play. You can find more about it in the pet evolution guide.

    3. Rare Pets
Rare pets aren't necessarily better than regular pets, but they are often cuter and have a more attractive design. Naturally, that's a matter of opinion though.

Here's a list of useful Rare Pet related guides/threads (they include tips on how to tame them):

    ~Kinnacat's ~Rare Pet Guide~
    ~Rare Pet Taming Guide
    ~Rare Pets & Taming
~Baby Pet Guide (related to rare pets)

    Frogling
It can be used as a magic tank because of its high magic defense. It's level 9 and spawns every 12 hours at 245 571, 239 549 and 196 513.

    Snow Hare
It can be used as a magic tank because of its high magic defense. It's level 20 and spawns every hour at 469 921, and every 12 hours at 95 810.

    Tabby Plumdrop
The Tabby Plumdrop is a debuffing type of pet. It comes with a physical and magical debuff. This cute little cat has a good balance bewteen the damage dealt, HP, defense, and speed. It's level 20 and spawns every 12 hours at 362 690 and 397 619.

    Shaodu Cub
With a lot of HP and defense, this polar bear cub is made for tanking. It's normal that the damage it deals is lower. It also comes with Pounce, a legendary pet skill that stuns the target and increases the pet's attack rate. It's level 20 and spawns every 12 hours at 200 452 and 288 458.

    Windwalking Piggy
With high HP and defence, this pet is also made for tanking but specifically for air combat. It can work on ground too but not in instances. It's level 30 and spawns every 12 hours at 403 643 (approximately 38 altitude).

    Cuddly Pup
The pup can be used as a puller because of it's speed, as a DDer because of it's high attack and Bash skill, as a debuffer, since he has Slow (reduces speed) and Threaten (reduces physical attack) as skills. It's level 40 and spawns every 12 hours at 299 764.

    Kowlin
Lower HP and defense, but very high speed and damage. This panther is made for pulling, DDing and debuffing because it comes with a nice set of skills as default. Even though it has low HP and defense, which makes it die quickly, it's speed saves it when pulling. It's level 60 and spawns every 12 hours at 462 427.

    Armored Bear
With a lot of HP and defense, this polar bear cub is made for tanking. It's normal that the damage it deals is lower. It also comes with Pounce, a legendary pet skill that stuns the target and increases the pet's attack rate. It's level 80 and spawns every 12 hours at 628 624.

    Derjan's Ancient Hatchling
This rare pet comes with some common level 1 skills. However, its attack as well as attack rate (1 APS, highest land dps pet) are its strong points, making it a great DD (possibly the best one, excluding legendary pets). It's level 101.

This pet is bound upon taming. Unlike other rare pets, its spawn time is random between 24-48 hours so it's harder to tame. It spawns at one of the following coordinates inside Morai: 362 544, 346 528, 354 538.

    4. Legendary Pets
Adapted from the original Legendary Pet Guide.

Legendary Pets are pets that can be bought from the Boutique or other players who sell them. They are costly and because of that they also have certain advantages over free pets.

They are commonly called cash shop pets, CS pets or just legendary pets. They are usually the final goal of Venomancers as far as pets are concerned, although some do choose to stick to free pets. Legendary Pets are not necessary to play the game, especially in PvE, but they do grant the player advantages and abilities that surpass free pet in certain situations.

How to obtain a legendary pet
In order to obtain a legendary pet you have to buy certain items from the Boutique and exchange them for the pet ticket at Ms. Zoologist in Archosaur (587 620). The items and tickets are trade-able but once the ticket has been opened the pet is bound to the account (it can be account stashed).

    The requirements are the following:

Baby Hercules - 9999 Source of Force
Baby Blazing Phoenix - 9999 Phoenix Feather
Monkey King - 10000 Soul Root
    Harpy - 10000 Harpy Plume

All items are available in the Boutique or from players in-game. The Source of Force & Phoenix Feather are also available in the Battle Pet Packs (in the Boutique). The Baby Hercules and Baby Blazing Phoenix tickets can also be obtained through Perfect Chests chance packs (in the Boutique).

All legendary pets start at level 1. Harpy and Monkey are all-environment pets since level 1, the Hercules and the Phoenix have to evolve at level 100 first before they can be taken anywhere.

How to save money for a legendary pet
If you can't or don't want to spend real life money and charge gold for the pets, here are some tips for saving money.

~Phoenix Feather / Source of Force (coin vs. money) Link is broken right now. I can't find the thread again.
~Money Making Guide (most up-to-date one)
    ~Guide to Merchanting
...or simply ask in the forums!

What legendary pet should I choose?
The answer is...all of them! Well, maybe not really all of them unless you can afford that. Different Legendary Pets offer different things so you should choose the one(s) to serve your needs.

A quick summary of the Legendary Pets:

    Celestial Giant (Baby Hercules)
The Hercules is the ultimate tanking pet, no competition. It enables you to tank several at-level bosses and gives you the ability to solo your own instances with ease. Of course some instances cannot be solo'd. Although soloing will be easier, remember it it's still going to be time consuming, but at least you won't have to rely on other people as much if you're more of a loner.

The evolved Hercules remains as the best tanking pet after level 100 that now comes with a pretty strong aggro stealing/keeping skill and a nice boost in its defence and HP. It can have additional aggro and self healing skills with the right moods. It gets a pretty nice boost in attack too.

It's worth buying one and it's not too expensive (on sale) but prices vary among the servers. It's worth acquiring one and you'll gain the ability to tank so much more in-game as well as allow you to DD more while pet tanking.

    Heliacal Phoenix (Baby Blazing Phoenix)
As Mayfly put it, the Phoenix only fills the "jack of all trades, master of none" pet role now. It's a good DD pet, but Harpy is better; it has a role in PVP, but the Monkey is better; it's a decent tank pet, but the Hercules is better unless you load up the Nix with Herc buffs, and even then an evolved Hercules will hold aggro better than an evolved Phoenix.

It's nice in PvE but it can be easily replaced by other evolved pets at level 100 that can perform similarly if you want cheaper options. Unless you plan to PvP with the Phoenix I recommend against buying one for PvE purposes, even though it can be really nice and useful at lower levels.

Teaching it Protect/Strong can turn the Phoenix into a solid DD/tanky all-environment pet (after evolution) for all purposes. It's cheaper than the Harpy/Monkey but it's overshadowed by them so it's all up to you and your budget.

I'd recommend it for someone who can only afford one legendary pet and want to use one for multiple tasks such as tanking, DDing and PvP. It would require teaching it the buffs mentioned above to make the best out of it though.

    Empyrean Harpy (Harpy)
Strictly PvE pet equipped with ranged attacks (physical, magical, auto-attack), spam-able attacks, AOE attacks, ranged AOE monster-only stun. She's good for pulling, has great DD/DPS in PvE, she's for AOEs & grinding and is suitable for ranged tanking. It's, more or less the best PvE DD & DPS pet with other useful gimmicks unique to this pet.

    Avatar of War (Monkey King)
A PvP oriented pet with a lot of stunlocking possibilities. It has single target freeze, single target stun and ranged AOE stun.

It's pretty much the best PvP pet. It's an excellent pet for PK, NW and other miscellaneous PvP, though in TW it might die often because of TW's nature being full of AOEs and whatnot. It has overall better survival and damage potential than the Phoenix due to its Inherit stats. Most Venomancer will teach their Monkey Strong and/or Protect for even better survival.

    5. Review of the new Legendary Pets
Adapted from the original Review thread.

    Harpy

    Quick Q&A

    - Is it worth the 225 gold?
Depends on the person. Personally I don't regret spending the gold for it. It makes PvE a lot more fun, and gives you several new options.

    - What's so special about it compared to old Legendaries?
The Harpy comes with a spam-able water damage single target attack, spam-able wood damage AOE attack (can work as continuous AOE/zhen) and AOE stun. Additionally it has Claw. All skills are ranged, including the auto-attacks so it can effectively replace old pulling pets such as the cacti or the Eeldergoths. It can also range tank bosses, such examples are tanking Warsong bosses. It's probably the best PvE DD available as of now and the only pet that's purely ranged.

It's able to go on land, water and air since lvl 1 as opposed to the old Legendary Pets.

    - Is it a "must have" ?
It's a very nice pet but it isn't a necessity.

    Skills
Ice Stick - spam-able ranged water damage single target attack. It deals pretty decent damage and the best part is that it's literally spam-able at 1.0 second cooldown. Takes full advantage of skill damage buffs.

Fallen Leaf and Flying Flowers - spam-able wood AOE attack, 10 meter radius. Like Ice Stick is deals good damage and has a 1.0 second cooldown which makes it a lovely AOE to have. You can set it up as continuous AOE if there's some invisible target around and you can leave the Harpy to AOE on it.

Bare-handed Cut - 3 second AOE stun with a 30 second cooldown, 10 meters radius. Only works on monsters. Deals physical damage and it's ranged.

Claw - There's not much to say about this skill. Most of you already know it from the Phoenix. Increases attack by 30%.

Spirit Destory - Harpy's evolution pet skill. Increases HP by 30% and skill damage dealt on monsters by 30%.

    Personal experience with it
The Harpy is a PvE oriented pet. Please take notice of that. If you're considering it for PvP then you will be disappointed.

The Harpy has very low attack (just 2661 at level 100) but the way it works is that its skills deal additional damage on monsters and has a self-buff, after the evolution, to increase skill damage dealt on monsters.
It relies heavily on the Venomancer's attack levels (100% inherit value).
Also, since it doesn't need to auto-attack (short cooldown on skills) it can take full advantage of buff pet skills that increase skill damage.

You can compare stats here. The Harpy has similar stats as the Phoenix (except for the attack) so it has similar defences to it. The evolved Harpy gets a 60% inherit for defence levels and 20% for general defences, same as the evolved Phoenix.

For me, it's the most fun pet to use in PvE. It has a lot of gimmicks and uses, depending on the instance.

    Monkey King

    Quick Q&A

    - Is it worth the 225 gold?
Depends on the person. It's great for those that PvP a lot, but it needs some extra investment to make it tanky.

    - What's so special about it compared to old Legendaries?
It's potentially the hardest hitting Venomancer PvP pet as of now. It gains 100% inherit values from attack and attack levels (as opposed to Phoenix's 75%/90%) and it is tankier with 80% inherit value for defence levels (Phoenix's 60% / Hercules 100%). It has a good amount of control skills, making your stun-locking abilities much more effective.

It's able to go on land, water and air since lvl 1 as opposed to the old Legendary Pets.

    - Is it a "must have" ?
If you already have a Phoenix you can manage with it in PvP but the Monkey is, in my opinion always, the new best PvP pet. I highly recommend it for those who can afford it.

    Skills
Rule The World - a hard hitting single target attack that also increases pet attack by 30% for 10 minutes upon landing, freezes target for 2 seconds.

Heavy Load - 15m range 2 second AOE stun with a 15 second cooldown, 6 meter radius. It's pretty nice for stunning a group of people in PvP or just an all around handy stun with a short cooldown. Only works on players. Description in-game is wrong.

Pounce - has 80% chance to stun the target for 3 seconds, same skill as the Phoenix and Hercules.

Flesh Ream - I think everyone knows what this skill is so I won't comment on it. Currently what everyone uses on their PvP pets for the bleed. I personally removed it in order to teach my pet Protect (magic defence buff).

Combat Saint - evolution skill, increases HP by 30% and reduce damage taken from players by 60%. The damage reduction is effective and noticeable. This gives the Monkey more options for moods as other pets would be advised to have a mood that contains Ghost or Spirit. Other pets lack player damage reduction buff otherwise.

    Personal experience with it
The Monkey King is a PvP oriented pet, albeit it can work decently in PvE along with PvE damage boosting skills from Moods (I wouldn't recommend it however unless you do plan to PvP). It has high attack and hard hitting skills though it's not a huge difference from the Phoenix as far as I can tell.

It's tankier than the Phoenix (80% inherit defence vs. 60% of the Phoenix) and can get slightly more HP (20% vs. 25%) This is highly dependent on the inherit roll and the person's gear however. After testing my Monkey and my Phoenix (both having really high inherit in defence lvl and decent HP/Defence) the Phoenix was taking more damage than Monkey (both physical and magical).

It can work as a tank pet with high DD output if you remove Pounce/Flesh Ream and replace them with Strong/Protect however considering the maximum potential of the two pets, Hercules remains tankier of the two at a much cheaper price.

I don't think it renders the Phoenix completely obsolete. but if you really want the best PvP pet available, the Monkey's it. It comes with quite a bunch of control skills; single target 2 second freeze, 15m ranged AOE player 2 second stun (15s cooldown) and single target stun plus its exclusive skill reduces damage taken from players which gives you the option of getting other moods instead of player damage reducing ones (must-have on any PvP pet to survive).

The skills have relatively short cooldowns (Rule the World - 15s, Heavy Load 15s) thus you can stunlock more effectively. In addition to them also has Pounce. Of course there are anti-stuns but those don't last forever and after experiencing the pet myself I can say that it is very very useful and nice.

If you're planning to get a Monkey for TWs only... think twice. The Monkey won't make a big difference in TW so think whether you want to spend that amount of coin/gold for it or not. It is a lot better than the Phoenix but it still dies a lot because of the nature of TW. I mostly shines in PK and NW.

In other words, it is great but the Monkey is expensive and your investment won't be that good if you're only planning to do TW. In this case, you're better off improving your gear.

    6. What's the best pet?
Adapted from the original Pets, numbers, and sorting. Answer to the eternal "What's the best pet?" question !

    ~Level 105 pet stats.

A lot of useful and interesting information can be found in that thread, but keep in mind that it's missing a lot of the newer pets that were added to the game over the years. Here I present you with quick summary of that thread. I'll add my personal comments under every pet category. I'm not good with maths so my comments will be from experience.

The list was made for land, non-ranged pets, the lower tame level of each pet family. The pet stats taken into account were for level 90. My comments will include range/air/level 100 and evolved pets.

    Top 10 overall def:
    Baby Hercules
    Shaodu Cub
    Armored Bear
    Astral Beetle (Hept-, Pent-, Quadr-)
    Crystalline Magmite
    Qingfu (Emerald, Jaden, Verdant)
    Tuskmoor (Plainswalker, Riverside, Doft)
    Tauroc (Angler, Logger, Stevedore)
    Rhinodrake (Billabong, Boondock, Plainswalker)
    Frogling

The Baby Blazing Phoenix, the Monkey King and the Harpy all have decent defences as well due to being legendary pets. They would probably score somewhere close to the Shaodu Cub/Armored Bear. The Glacial Walker has slightly better stats than the Crystalline Magmite so it would be pretty high up there too. The Dark Wanderer also has decent defences to be somewhere on the list of top 10. Perhaps the Derjan's Hatchling too.

At level 100, the pets that can evolve would most likely beat the non-evolved pets due to getting defence from the Venomancer's gear as well. The non-evolution pets are the Astral Beetle, the Qinfu, the Tuskmoor, the Tauroc and the Rhinodrake.

Then you also have to consider that Baby Hercules, Glacial Walker and Crystalline Magmite do come with tanking-related skills and defence/hp oriented Inherit after evolution.

    Top 10 Pdef:
    Baby Hercules
    Crystalline Magmite
    Armored Bear
    Shaodu Cub
    Qingfu (Emerald, Jaden, Verdant)
    Astral Beetle (Hept-, Pent-, Quadr-)
    Tauroc (Angler, Logger, Stevedore)
    Tuskmoor (Plainswalker, Riverside, Doft)
    Minkii (Mongoose, Redtail, Sable)
    Overclocked Mechrab

As mentioned previously, the Glacial Walker has slightly better stats than the Crystalline Magmite so it would be on the second place with it. The Baby Blazing Phoenix and the Monkey are also decent enough to be above the Armored Bear/Shaodu Cub. The Dark Wanderer is above the Armored Bear/Shaodu Cub too.

The Harpy and the Derjan's Hatchling are around the level of Tsukmoors in terms of physical defence. Keep in mind that the Baby Blazing Phoenix cannot be taken into instances until after it evolves.

    Top 10 Mdef:
    Baby Hercules
    Armored Bear
    Shaodu Cub
    Frogling
    Astral Beetle (Hept-, Pent-, Quadr-)
    Rhinodrake (Billabong, Boondock, Plainswalker)
    Tuskmoor (Plainswalker, Riverside, Doft)
    Carapest Terror
    Qingfu (Emerald, Jaden, Verdant)
    Guardian Wolf

The Harpy, the Baby Blazing Phoenix and the Monkey King all have superior magic defence stats than all the pets on the list. However, as noted previously the Phoenix is excluded from instances until it evolves. The Harpy, being purely a ranged pet, would take advantage of magic attacks (forcing monsters/bosses to deal ranged damage) and therefore its magic defence the most.

Also keep in mind that the Baby Hercules comes with a magic defence buff which probably places it on equal grounds with the pets mentioned above when buffed (unless you teach Harpy/Phoenix/Monkey Protect).

I shall also mention the Seamonster Guardian who has pretty great stats too.

Top 10 Dps, including Bash lvl 5:
    Baby Hercules
    Scorpion (Pollen, Pup, Varicose)
    Crystalline Magmite
    Antelope Pup
    Nine Tail Foxie
    Bloodthirsty Adalwolf
    Kowlin
    Cuddly Pup
    Qingfu (Emerald, Jaden, Verdant)
    Frogling

The Harpy would probably be the top pet here. The Harpy's main advantage is the fact that two of the three attack skills have such a short cooldown that they can be literally spammed. The Harpy doesn't need to auto-attack. The channeling/cast time of the skills is quite fast too. In addition to this, Harpy deals extra damage on monsters so it's damage + extra damage = total damage.

Perhaps her damage and overall DPS isn't too far ahead of other pets before evolving. After evolution, however, she has access to two skill damage buffs that she can take full advantage of because she always uses skills. On top of that, her attack level Inherit is 100%.

The Monkey King is really powerful too. Rule the World is a really strong attack skill and its base attack is high, too. It gets 100% attack and attack level upon evolution. I would dare to say the Harpy would still deal the most overall damage/DPS, but the Monkey could be a close second.

The Baby Blazing Phoenix is a great DD pet too, but it's limited to air and non-instanced ground combat. After evolution it gets 75%/90% attack/attack level Inherit falling behind the Monkey, but still remain powerful enough.

Other notable pets are the Derjan's Hatchling and the Dark Wanderer, with the Hatchling having the edge and possibly being the best land DD/DPS pet, excluding the Harpy/Monkey. The Seamonster Guardian, Petite Sawfly and Cloud Skatefish are all also great DD pets with the Sawfly and Skatefish being popular alternatives as air DD pets.

Some of these pets cannot evolve however, so they kinda lose out after level 100.

    Top 11 Moving speed:
    Kowlin
    Nine Tail Foxie
    Cuddly Pup
    Petalii Hexkiss
    Clever Cactopod
    Steelhide Grimalkin
    Huggy Hare
    Armored Bear
    Tabby Plumdrop
    Mastiff of the Great Divide
    Guardian Wolf

The Baby Blazing Phoenix is the fastest pet available but as mentioned multiple times, its usage is limited before evolution (no instances). The Harpy and the Monkey King fall just a little behind the Kowlin but slightly above the Nine Tail Foxie.

    7. Using Pets (PvE and PvP)

    PvE
In PvE you'll find yourself using different pets for different situations. First and foremost you'll have to get accustomed to using the pet commands (read 1. Pet Basics) to learn how to fully control your pet.

You'll most likely want to keep your pet on manual so that it won't attack unwanted targets. It will also avoid accidents. When a pet is on "auto" it will automatically attack monsters when they AOE even if you didn't attack with your Venomancer. By having the pet on manual you can avoid this.

During the lower levels you'll probably rely on tank pets more because you'll probably solo a lot, unless you start out with friends or make friends and play together early on. You should also learn how to pull/lure monsters (read 1. Pet Basics).

Although nowadays players do get a lot of useful things like free charms or free gear from Dreamchaser packs making things a lot easier, it's still a good idea to keep a leveled tanky pet around. If you want to play safe and let the pet take all the damage for you, you'll have to hold back with your damage to allow the pet to keep aggro. The trick is usually to allow the pet to hit a few times before you start attacking too.

During higher levels you'll probably start using DD/debuff pets more, especially once you start running things with squads regularly. However you might still end up being the tank of the squad and have to use your loyal tank pet. Venomancers can body tank a variety of things, especially with a healer, but since this section is about pets only, I'll skip this.

Roar would be a good skill to have on your tank pet so that it can quickly reset and grab aggro onto itself. You might also need to tell your squad to hold back with their attacks. If it's a Baby Hercules pet, the Bramble will help with the aggro-keeping but it won't have any way to quickly grab aggro back if it loses it. One could replace Pounce with Roar but I wouldn't suggest than since at level 100 it gets stronger aggro skills and then you'll probably miss not having Pounce.

Although someone might choose to remove Pounce and replace it with Bless for even more HP or Claw to increase the pet's overall attack. In the past, Venomancers would usually replace Pounce with Bash to help out with generating/keeping aggro.

At endgame instances, most pets will really be just DD/debuff/support. It is rare that pets will tank. The evolved Baby Hercules will be a great tank pet and can be useful in many situations but you'll usually have a tank in your squad already...or your gear might be so good that you're better off tanking yourself. This means you'll usually use your DD pets more often than not.

    Pets in squads
Pets will often be used for pulling monsters and/or bosses. Other times they might have to tank for the squads. In general they can be a decent DD addition to the squad.

During early levels the pet debuffs Howl/Pierce will be stronger than that of players like Clerics, Barbarians, Venomancers etc. but at higher levels you'll have to start paying attention not to accidentally overwrite the classes' powerful debuffs (especially if they are Sage/Demon) with the pet's.

Other useful skills to have is Threaten to lower the bosses' physical attack to help the tank out, or Shriek that interrupts attacks (100% at max level, level 80).

If you are in a squad where the tank dies and there is no other person capable of tanking, you, as a Venomancer, have to take action. If your pet is able to tank the boss, simply grab aggro and keep healing your pet until your tank is alive again. If your pet, however, is unable to tank the particular boss you can call your pet back, after making sure aggro is on the pet (pet should be set on Manual in order for this to work). Keep running around and have your pet follow you. This way, the pet will rarely get hit and will be able to survive long enough, until your tank is ready again.

Pets are generally useful for tanking adds spawned by bosses, escorting players and other miscellaneous jobs. You might discover a variety of ways of using your pet; just experiment.

    Auto-cultivation (botting) with pets
Suitable pets for botting are either pets with good DD power to help you kill monsters faster or tank pets that require less healing and have a lower risk of dying.

You will need to set Heal Pet on the Assisting slot. How often you need to use it will be determined by how often your pet will need heals. I suggest setting up your bot and observe it to see how often and how much damage your pet takes.

The two basic ways to go about with botting is to 1. set your pet on auto so that it attacks whenever you attack or gets attacked or 2. set your pet on defend so that it attacks monsters that attack your Venomancer.

The first option will generally help you kill faster since the pet will always be attacking. The second option will be safer for your Venomancer as the pet is going to attack and aggro extra monsters that might attack you.

    Other related threads:
    ~Botting with Hercules.
    ~Veno auto-cultivation.

    PvP
In PvP most pets aren't strong enough to survive so you'll probably either get a Baby Blazing Phoenix or a Monkey King.

In lower level PvP, if there is any, the pets are pretty strong and Flesh Ream pet skill doesn't suffer from the PvP damage reduction. During the first years of the game, the Phoenix was able to solo AA players and still hit hard on LA and HAs. Now at endgame good gear is easier to get (G16 Nirvana) so the pet damage isn't significant anymore, even more so against R9rr players. With that in mind you'll probably want to use the pet as support.

The first step would be to get good defensive Inherit rolls and a good Mood. Secondly, you'll want to teach your pet some buffs like Strong and/or Protect, especially if you're more serious about PvP.

The pet will be used mainly for stunning though Shriek on a Phoenix (assuming it didn't learn Strong/Protect so it has one skill slot empty) can be handy because it interrupts. Alternatively, the magic defence debuff Howl might be a decent choice too. You can send your pet to stun an enemy while you run up to them to Purge/debuff. The Monkey has better stunlock abilities than the Phoenix so you can also use it to chain stuns and allow you to use some good attack or debuff combos.

If you are Demon, you might actually consider going for a more offensive approach with the pet and keep Flesh Ream to combine it with Demon Ironwood's proc (especially when Arcane Antinomy is on cooldown). This might work out quite well though my personal advice would be to build your PvP pet for defence/support.

    8. Venomancer Pet Evolution
Adapted from the original Venomancer Pet upgrade & evolution guide.

What is the pet evolution and how does it work?
The new Venomancer pet upgrade is an update to the old, and quite outdated, pet system of the class.

Once certain pets reach level 100, they will have the option to evolve and change their appearance using new items named Feral Soul Star(s). In addition to this, pets' stats will be affected by the Venomancer's gear and stats after they've undergone the evolution.

The stats are not affected by the gear you wear when you evolve the pets, they are affected by the gear you wear when you summon them. When you improve your gear, the pets will be improved too. It doesn't matter what you're wearing when you evolve them, they won't be stuck at low stats because your gear is "bad".

The stats and gear from which the pets will be affected are the following:

    HP
    Attack
    Defence
    Attack level
    Defence Level

    HP = (Venomancer's HP/ Venomancer's Level)x(a constant number = 24) + Pet HP stat = overall HP of the pet
5% bonuses from equipment seem to not affect the pets.

Attack = (Max weapon Magic attack + Magic Rings + Magic attack adds + Shards)x(Loyalty)x(Inherit Coeficient) + Pet Attack stat = overall attack power of the pet

Defence = (Equipment + Resistance Adds + Shards)x(Inherit Coefficient) = overall defence of the pet
Includes both physical and magic defence.

    Defence/Attack Level = (Venomancer's Defense/Attack Level)x(Inherit Coeffcient) = overall Defense/Attack level of the pet

The above maths were provided by dupethefile.

Each pet will have a unique Inherit Stat for the HP, Attack, Defence, Attack level and Defence level. To change these values, you will have to re-roll your pet using Feral Soul Star(s).

Pets can gain EXP by being fed Feral Soul Stars. It appears that the higher level the pet, the more EXP the Stars give.

    Legendary pets will change inhabitant!
They will now be able to be taken into instances, go underwater and fly.
Old legendary pets (Hercules/Phoenix) can go on land, water and air after they evolve.
New legendary pets (Monkey/Harpy) can go on land, water and air from lvl1.

    Activating Lycaeum without PK mode.
    New Pet Instance discussion.

Quick summary of the instance and how it works:
It's available only for Venomancers level 100 and above, however if you've Reawakened you can enter the Lycaeum at any level. It's a solo instance from which Venomancers can obtain Feral Soul Stars that are used to feed pets with EXP, evolve them, change mood and reshape the inherit stats.

The quest can be taken at the Mrs. Zoologist (585 620) in South Archosaur once per day, between 8:00am and 11:30pm server time. Pick up the yellow quest for the pass, it only lasts 15 minutes so make sure to enter quickly. Pick up the quest to enter the instance. Make sure you're not in squad with anyone otherwise you won't be able to enter (quest won't be available).

    Once inside the instance:
Speak to the NPC to start.

You'll see a semi-circle of dark horseman guards appear, waiting for the enemy monsters that will spawn from a purple-looking portal.

In order to defeat incoming enemies you will have to activate the guards to attack them for you.
In order to activate the guards you have ctrl + click a skill, this requires PK mode enabled.

Attacking an already activated guard will switch them between fire (magic) and physical attacks. Activating a new guard will cost 100 credits, so you can only activate guards as you earn credits from defeating monsters.
The order you activate the guards does not matter, activate them in whatever order works for you.

Sometimes a fox monster will try to sneak past and go to the other side at the portal. You'll have to have your pet out to quickly kill the sneaky fox. It runs pretty fast so make sure to send your pet quickly. I'd recommend a ranged pet or a fast moving pet that can kill the fox monster in a couple of hits. If foxes manage to run into the portal you will lose credit. The fox monster has high magic resistance and low physical resistance.

    There will be a puffbird NPC which you can attack to activate and cycle through its debuffs;
Reduce HP - Use it on Raving Teddies.
Slow movement speed - Use it on Kowlins.
Reduce defences - Use it on Armored Shaodu Cubs.

There are also special monsters that spawn before each wave after the 3rd wave. Please refer to the links & videos above to learn how to deal with them.

    Regarding Waves:
There are 10 waves in total, all random, and the last wave is a boss. Make sure to use Amplify Damage on the boss and send your pet in addition to having the guards activated. You must use all of the puffbird's debuff in order to kill the boss.

Try to freeze it to give time to your guards to kill it. Only freeze debuffs will work (Parasitic Nova, Stunning blow, Demon Frost Scarab), the boss is immune to stun.

I'd recommend starting with Parasitic Nova at the puffbird so you can keep the boss locked down while cycling through the puffbird's debuffs and keep rotating through Stunning Blow and Parasitic Nova to keep it in place. A successful rotation of those two skills should allow the guards to kill the boss. Usually the last 4-5 guards won't even touch it. If all guards are activated you won't need to keep freezing the boss.

    Once the instance is over:
You will be granted Feral Soul Stars. The amount depends on your credits.
Even if you get negative credit you will still get 18 Feral Soul Stars.
Regardless of your score you can trade in one star to receive 10 back in addition to what you have earned with your credits.

If you get credit between 400-699 you get 20 Feral Soul Stars. If you get between 700-999 you get 22 Feral Soul Stars. If you get 1000 you get 26 Feral Soul Stars.

Getting credit over 400 will give you a low chance at getting a legendary pet skill as a reward (Claw or Bless).
Getting the perfect score will give you a very low chance of getting the skill Bewitch (Squirrel), shared cooldown with Bewitch and Bewitch (Tiger).

    Pet Evolution, Moods, Unique Skills

~List of all evolve-able pets with stats & pictures.
    ~Video of the evolve-able & evolved pets.

In order to start the Training Mode, you will have to open the Pet Bag (press P in-game) and click the new icon that will appear next to your pet. Please note that only pets level 100 and above can enter the Training Mode.
    984900a9ece3a61b3fbbff986ee80f2c1371145863.jpg

The Training Mode will give you the options of evolving and training your pet using Feral Soul Stars acquired via the new daily instance, Lycaeum of Cultivation.

You can use the Feral Soul Stars to feed to pet EXP. If the pet is level 100 you can use the Stars to evolve it. Additionaly, you can choose to use a combination of Feral Soul Stars and Chienkun Stones if you don't have enough Stars. However, Chienkun Stones are expensive and thus not worth using. Just be patient and gather Feral Soul Stars instead. In order to feed a pet EXP it has to be summoned. In order to evolve/change mood/reshape is has to be stowed. All pets require 140 Feral Soul Stars to evolve.

    Window before evolution:

    Window after evolution:

Once evolved, you can change the Mood of the pet and roll its Inherit stats.

The Mood grants the evolved pet two new skills. There are over 70 different Moods. Each individual pet has access to 30 Moods out of the 70. The type of Moods available vary from pet to pet.
You will have to enter the Mood Training in order to roll for a new Mood. You will randomly receive a new Mood and you can choose whether you want to keep your old Mood or new Mood. Regardless of your choice the Feral Soul Stars required will be consumed. Mood skills cannot be leveled; you will have to re-roll until you get a Mood with high level skills.
    bb8dacc27d8dbedef9928c50100b8feb1371148514.jpg

In order to change the Inherit stat values of your pet you will have to Reshape. Much like with Mood Training, you can choose whether you want to keep your new roll or not. Regardless of your choice the Feral Soul Stars required will be consumed. Inherit stats are also random, you will have to Reshape your pet multiple times until you get a satisfying roll.

Pets that have evolved will acquire an evolution skill. This skill is unique for each pet. See below for further information.

    9. Venomancer builds & pet choices

This is for PvE only. In PvP the choices are mostly between a Phoenix and a Monkey. The build won't matter too much. Vit builds would give pets more HP. Pets' attack is affected by gear so the Venomancer's magic doesn't matter. Defences will come from gear. For more information read the pet upgrade & evolution guide (link in 1. Pet Basics).

    Arcane Armor builds
If you start out with an AA build, your priority will be to have a decent tanking pet. Your physical defence will be low. Even if your magic defence is fine, the low HP will not help your case. You will surely want to have a pet that can work as your meat shield.

Even if you follow a Vit AA build and/or start out with Dreamchaser pack gear, which is really strong, you might still want to have a trusted tank pet by your side.

As you progress through the levels you will get stronger and you'll have to start picking a DD pet. If you've already picked one, you might want to level it up if it has fallen behind in levels. At later levels, your playstyle and how often you squad or solo will determine what pets you use but I would still advice keeping a tank pet around - just in case!

At endgame you'll probably rely on your squad more than your pet so you'll most likely use your DD/support pet(s) more than a tank pet, unless your tank pet is also your DD pet.

If you decide to get R9rr you'll eventually become stronger than your pet when it comes to tanking but if you've taken your loyal tank pet all the way up to level 100 you might as well evolve it and keep it around, even more so if it's a Baby Hercules...those can be handy even for R9rr players sometimes.

If you decide to follow a full Vit AA build, probably for PvP, you would be benefited from a DD pet during PvE activities since your damage will be lower. Your Vit will also give your pets more HP so your DD pet should be tankier than other pets. In addition to that, pet attack Inherit is only affected by gear and weapon, not by your base magic attack.

Keep in mind refines, shards and ornaments play a significant role. Being a Vit build will not automatically make you tanky if your refines are low and your ornaments aren't good; you might still need to use a tank pet.

    Light Armor builds
As an LA build your HP and defences will be more balanced and you'll still have decent attack despite having to sacrifice some magic points. Despite this, you will still need a tank pet to have around but you might find yourself using a DD pet more often than an AA build.

There isn't much to say about LA builds as they are similar to AA builds when it comes to pet choices for the most part. Playstyles may vary among different players though. Some might prefer tank pets and some might prefer DD pets.

At endgame people often switch to HA or to AA for R9rr. In both cases you won't need a tank pet much but if you still have yours, you could keep in case it's ever needed. If you decide to stick to LA even at endgame (assuming you'll get G16 Nirvana), you'll probably use a DD pet more.

Keep in mind refines, shards and ornaments play a significant role. Being an LA build will not automatically make you tanky if your refines are low and your ornaments aren't good; you might still need to use a tank pet.

    Heavy Armor builds
Players usually don't start with an HA build but re-stat to it later after level 80+ or at level 100. If you're that type of person then read about AA or LA builds' pets depending on what you choose.

If you're planning to start with an HA build then you may want to consider a magic tank pet to compensate for your low magical defences. Apart from that you will definitely benefit from a good DD pet as you're going to have lower magic attack. If you like playing in Fox Form a lot, your Str will boost your physical attack and fox attacks but it's still good to have a DD pet by your side then. You could even teach it Pierce so that you won't have to switch to Human Form for Ironwood's debuff.

A physical tank pet won't be as necessary but I would still advice getting one because they can be handy. As you progress through the game and get better elemental ornaments, you might eventually stop needing a magic tank. Whether you'll want to keep it around, it is up to you.

At endgame you'll probably stick to a DD/support pet most of the time so invest in a good a DD pet!

Keep in mind refines, shards and ornaments play a significant role. Being an HA build will not automatically make you tanky if your refines are low and your ornaments aren't good; you might still need to use a tank pet.

    10. Leveling pets
At the beginning your pets won't have much trouble keeping up with you in levels but soon they'll start falling behind and you'll have to take care of them or maybe you're a high level Venomancer that just tamed a low level pet or recently acquired a legendary pet that needs lots of leveling... so what can you do?

Before looking into ways to level up your pets you need to remember a few things first:

    - Loyalty affects the EXP the pet gains so make sure your pet's loyalty is high.
    - The max EXP a pet can get per monster kill is 15.
    - The monster/boss has to be higher level than the pet otherwise the pet won't gain EXP.
    - Pets get full EXP (15) from killing [?] monsters/bosses.
    - Your pet or your Venomancer has to have the first hit otherwise your pet won't gain EXP. If you're in a squad and other people hit monsters first, your pet won't gain EXP.

Here are various ways of leveling your pets:

    ~Getting to Room 4 step-by-step guide.
The most popular place for leveling land pets. It's available for level 40+. The link above should provide you with anything you need to know. No air or water pets.

    Staunch Worms
These little creatures are great for leveling air pets. They are elemental immune.

    Marriage Quest Locations
Marriage Quest monsters (lack of better link right now) are level [?] so they are suitable for pet leveling.

    Auto-cultivation
If you're planning to bot, you should use a pet so it gets EXP. Botting can be used in Cube or at the other places mentioned above too.

    Snowmen
Snowmen only appear during Christmas events but they are a nice way to level your pet up while picking some chi stones too. Snowmen are level [?] and elemental immune.

    Lycaeum's Feral Soul Stars
If you're level 100 you can run the Lycaeum of Cultivation and get Feral Soul Stars. You can feed those to your pets to level them up. Make sure the pet is summoned otherwise it won't work. More details in the 8. Venomancer Pet Evolution.

The veno instance is available under Lv100 now no? I don't know from what level though.

Also this is extremely heavy to load on phone, I had my browser crashing at least 5 times before I was able to view this.. I dont think that is your fault though, I never had problems loading big threads on old forums on my bad silly phone.

@Satyrion - Ah that's right. I forgot about it, you can enter earlier than lvl100 if you're RB, though I'm not sure from what level either. I'll just... leave it at any level for now. Or was it for non-RB too? Need someone with a non level 100 Venomancer to go check it XD

    @kittycatgir - I'm glad it's of use!

Oh, as usual, if there are any broken links, typos, mistakes, missing information or just something someone wants to add, feel free to do so! Just like above there might be things I overlooked.

It's for those who reawakened that can enter pre-100. Pet evolution and the lycasium in general aren't available until your first 100.

    I have a question and a suggestion:

Question - I know the faction base buffs are not tradeable, but can they be put into the account stash?

Suggestion - The evolved Frogling is an excellent debuffer. It's very tanky and has a debuff to begin with, but gets three additional debuffs after evolving. By unlearning its useless attack and heal skills you'd free up slots to learn the other available debuffs, which allows this pet to have every possible pet debuff skill. I don't think any other pet is capable of this.

I agree Shriek has it uses. These 'three debuffs upon evolving' I dont know which you mean - because 2 of them is depends on what mood the frogling will get, and a lot of moods are available for multiple pets. The 3rd one, its special skill Disable Magic, have limited uses in PvE if you ask me. When it comes to bosses, slow doesnt even work, and neither do reduce channelling (for most bosses at least?), left we have the reduce attack rate, but it's only for 8 seconds every 30 second. Pretty much any other class with this debuff will do better job. Sure you can teach it debuffs but.. well, you can do that to any pet.
