Genie Reset Stone problem

Recently i messed up concerning my genies skill affinities. A friend found a stone of refreshment on their lvl 95 cleric(not rebirthed) from the lvl 80 Watcher quest. I traded it over and the genie wouldnt reset. Why?
Servers: Archosaur(PvE US West) and Harshlands (PvP US East)
Chars: Viktorian(100 2Rb Celestial Demon BM) PurpleHealz (100 Celestial Sage Cleric) DagsAway (95 Assassin)

    The only thing that comes in mind is that the genie may have been higher level than the character trying to reset it. I do not remember if thats a requirement though.

    how did you use it ? At the watcher ? its not just a right click item i think.
    Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.

    it was at the watcher. she actually got a message saying reset failed.

    Maybe it has to be in no-trade state? I've never reset one so I'm not sure.
