You seem to think Thicket is supposed to be a damage skill. It's not, it's a control skill. The seal and freeze (and curse for demon) last a very long time, giving you lots of time to position, set up plants, and anything else you need to do. Generally when I drop a Thicket on someone they don't survive what comes afterwards.

If you read what I said before.....

    1) It Procs purify on AA's. Try dropping a thicket in group PVP and proc purify on the AA and get yelled at your team mates later. It's stupid to use as a control skill and a waste of 2 sparks.

    2) It hits nothing on decent geared LA or HA players. Why would you waste 2 sparks on a "Control" Skill when you can use the chi instead to leech Chiyu, Galeforce and repeatedly use bramble tornado? Way more effective to drop a target with 40%+ crit rate.

    3) In a group PVP situation, you don't have the time to set up plants. If it was a 1v1 situation, why would you use thicket to cc them when you could use listless then set up another plant. Only reason why you drop thicket on someone and they don't survive is because they were either poorly geared or with a proper genie to escape from it.

Nowadays you can't just fire AS randomly and go for a one shot kill though...I always find that I have to lower target's hp midway before even using a basic AS to go for the kill. Mystics already hit significantly less than other mages due to the lack of debuffs, which means that you have to combo (Leech Storm Mistress + Rapid Growth) to even develop enough DD to kill from high hp. I'm talking about players with GOOD GEAR. Most people you fight who has a brain would normally block the upgrading WBD with a charm, THEN you have to follow it up with a NV, THEN use the AS combo. So many freaking steps and "chances" to even go for this type of combo. That's the reason why I don't like it.

I don't think you're thinking about it in the right mindset. The proc basically morphs AS from a primarily DPH skill to a DPS skill. When you NV + weeping breeze a target, and it procs, you're basically saying, "Ok, I can't bypass your charm, but my weeping + NV spam already ticked it, and here comes an instant 7k AS in your face. GL surviving the next 9 seconds." If they do survive? Weeping has only a 10s cooldown before you can try again.

I agree on squishy targets who can be easily bypased with AS (like self buffed psys), it makes more sense to just NV + AS and ignore weeping altogether, but vs fully jaded wiz/arch etc, the instant cast absorb soul is going to be an extremely strong DPS rotation that will give us the DPS to kill someone before their charm ticks again. For every class except barbs and seekers (their p def is too high for AS imo), this is at least a 20% DPS buff whenever it procs.

Also the proc lasts 6 seconds, so you can still NV a couple times after it procs, then drop a near instant AS on them when you feel like it.

I thought it's only a "Chance" (posted by Alexis) that will reduce the channeling for AS by 50%. If it doesn't proc we'll have to wait yet another 10 seconds to cast it again...and also be accustomed to the situation where we HAVE to cast it within 6 seconds without being sealed, stunned, or cc'd in any other way that prevents you from casting it at the right time. But yea if it works like 80% of the time, then sure I'l like it, but so far the information states it's only a "Chance" for it to occur. I guess it'l just have to be tested, all I know is by reading the description it's a pretty unreliable skill to me and it doesn't match my play style. So far every other class seems to have been given epic new skills and maybe ours will be as well, not crossing my fingers on it though.

AFAIK the chance will be around 40-50%. Seriously does no one else think this proc will be pretty OP? I guess you guys will have to try the skill out to really see what's possible with it :p.

Another new thingy for a brand new Mystic is starting out in Primal World. The casual player will stay there about a day, and achieve level 6. You will be warned about being killed, but you will find needing to heal yourself by any method almost non-existant.

When you leave, you might as well sell everything you got (except your mount), because it expires when you leave Primal World. The next day the casual gamer will achieve level 36.

Im thinking its directed to existing Mystics/players overall. I dont personally find being able to nubcake everything to death to be a lot of fun. For existing players its something new - and you dont need FC, or even other players to get right back to "Cash Shop" time. Im level 36 and dont even have a healing herb yet, and my Sirius Gears are so leet, Im soloing creatures I never could before the expansion, and yes! Its easy peasy.

When, and where you take the time to learn your class, I have no clue. I find all the newness fun, but I dont see it bringing any new players into PWs fold. There is no challenge anymore, except maybe how long you wanna persevere at grinding JJ.

UPDATE: Things settled down around levels 40 - 45. No more massive leveling spirts from scrolls & stuff. Sirius gears out-leveled at this point. The challenge has begun!
