We just got turned down at a nice apartment complex because we got told that we make too much money. WTF we are POOR! Keep in mind that this is NOT section 8 housing we were looking at, but an apartment complex with rent that we considered just affordable. We were looking at a 2 bedroom apartment with decent appliances and good proximity to work. BUT because they get TAX BREAKS for housing people who are on welfare and other government aid programs, they don't want to house anyone that works for their money.

It infuriates me to know that that nasty fat woman speaking to the employee behind us, bragging about how she was on every government aid program on the list, is going to get a nicer apartment than what we currently have, for less than what our rent is. She will get all of this, because SHE GETS MONEY FOR DOING NOTHING.

I WORK to pay for that disgusting piece of welfare trash to have nicer things than I have. Someone PLEASE explain to me how **** like this is ever going to motivate someone like that worthless blob of lard to get off her lazy, extra wide ***, get a job, and get off welfare. THIS is EXACTLY what is wrong with America. This doesn't send a good message to me or anyone else in my age group struggling to earn a living. This sends the message that I would be better off losing my job and getting knocked up.

    strange :) Thought socialism was a european thing :D

    Here in the netherlands about 80% of the rental market is in hands of a few big non-profit corporations that rend houses for a price that economically seems impossible (I pay 350 euro a month for a house that would do 120.000 euro on the market so thats only a very crappy interest over the value of the house)

    The other 20% of private rental is 3x the price.

    Up till now, everyone could rent from those corporations but after being on a waitinglist for 5 - 20 years, varying per city.
    Now they want to have a maximum income for this social rent sector. Sounds like a great idea to me :)

    Greed is human nature. Sometimes it overtakes people, if they can profit in any way from something they'll likely do it if they have a weak character. Especially when in a position of power. It sucks, but it happens.
