It is not that people (in general) hate Archosaur, it has more to do with the fact that the Archosaur server came relatively late in the history of PWI. Thus, it never really developed the strong, stable population of active players that the older servers enjoy.

When new players arrive, they generally want to play on an active server. This is an MMO after all. Thus, it is only natural that people are going to recommend one of the older servers which most people perceive as being more populated.

Personally, I have no idea what the "real" numbers are regarding the population size for each server but anecdotal evidence based on the number of active players that seem to be on at any given time, the older servers do seem to have bigger communities.

Nope, just checked. No such thing as an "Archosaur" server... Maybe it's one of the EU servers? b:question

Nothing's really wrong with it, just it's one of the newest servers (though over 2 years old) and just since no one from the server is very active on the forums apart from me and a few others.

I've played on both RT and Archo and the smaller size never made a difference for me. Its not harder to find squads or anything else you need. The supposed shortage of R9s on Archo seems mythical during NW. Only difference is raps sell for less here so you make less money from NW. And for what its worth, Archosuar city is still infested with catshops and seems as busy in general as on RT so I don't even feel like fewer people are here.

I also don't see why a new player wouldn't consider Archo. I think the lower levels are very active here and you still see lowbies in questing areas that are deserted on many servers. WC here still makes you want an unlimited Black List but because of whiny drama queens while on RT sometimes people had to be BLed because of overt bigotry. Overall I like archo better and wish I started here.

true true we are a secretive and scarce bunch b:laugh but Arch is still a great server with great players, just not as old.

Yes, no face-lifting needed on Archo, we're rosy cheeked and bouncy as a spring chicken b:cute .

I've played on Arch server for maybe two months total, and in general I'd say it's a great server if you like:
    - A tiny population
    - Standing on the BH platform for 30-60min trying to form a squad during peak hours
    - At least a 30-40% chance that any squad you join will predominately speak Spanish; not that there's anything wrong with Spanish, but you've gotta be able to communicate with your squad. I'm pretty sure at least 30% of the server population is Brazilian. XD
    - At least 75% of the population powerlevels and will look at you like you have two heads for suggesting otherwise
    - Gratuitous overuse of the word "nab" o.O
    - Inexplicably higher quantities of NW tokens (see Magnanimous's thread) divided among fewer people = lolraptureprices
    - Did I mention a tiny population? O.o

I kid, really. If you like a small server and can tolerate the lack of squads and the powerleveling, then Arch would be just fine. :P

So that must be just me, that manages to crash every time, while wading through the thicket of catshops in West Archo
Sorry to say, but if you're crashing in Arch server's west district then your vid card would probably burst into flames if you so much as stepped into HT's west district. :P

The Arch server has a great community and we all know each other :3
-We're a new server so the updates affect us more and there are less people complaining about how the game was better back then instead of trying out new things.
-Other servers also suffer from powerleveling, not just Arch
-The player population is very diverse and it truly feels like an international game. There are even entire factions with people from [insert country name]. l haven't really seen anyone judge others because they're from another place either. (some exceptions ofc)

Almost nothing that you wrote is true. I played on RT for over a year and almost a year on archo now. There are more spanish speaking squads in RT then here. Its not hard to find squads. There is a combined brazilian-portuguese fac, but I doubt there are enough brazilians here for their own fac. Between the two I found RT to be more international. Only really international part of Archo is the bizarre number of Fijians I believe we lead the MMO universe in them.

I think the smallness of archo helps. People are less likely to **** on people when you know you will be running into them several times a week for the rest of the time you play the game.

I'm afraid that yes, it would, but West district's catshop population seems to outweigh the "human" population a lot. So the rumours about server merge (even though they are BS) give me creeps b:laugh Starting areas don't look dead to me at all, but it seems to me that new characters quit a lot.

And yes, the community is quite diverse, so it's a typical situation when I stay online till 3 a.m. and my friends get up at 6 a.m., because we need to kill Wyvern.

Please don't think I'm judging. :) All I meant by the language barrier comment is that international servers are great, but they come at the cost of communication (and I'm all for learning additional languages, but doing so just for a video game is a little much).

Powerleveling is a problem on all servers ofc, but on HT it's more of a side practice rather than an integral part of the server culture. Pretty much everyone I asked on Arch said that powerleveling is just normal and assumed there. :-/

In the end, it comes down to what you're looking for. Close-knit communities have their benefits, but on HT I can talk to new people every day and never worry about getting a full squad for things (and by a full squad, I don't mean "a lv102 sin soloing my fb59" :P this is admittedly a problem on HT as well, but only very recently).

b:sweat So either somewhere in between 60%-70% of the population on this imaginary server speak an Iberic language or you genuinely think Spanish is spoken in Brasil...

Dude, I know you don't mean anything by it, but really don't work so hard to justify yourself. It is ok to say you would prefer it if people spoke English.

b:laugh I finally found some footage of this "Archosaur" server!

I enjoy Archosaur, I wouldn't play on any other server full-time because all my friends are here, it was plain coincidence that I started playing on this server since I started PWI at 13 years of age, I saw Archosaur, it was at the top of the server list and it sounded like a dinosaur...so yeh. b:chuckle

How silly of me. Yeah, I know they're different but I forget that difference quite often. I'm sure if we had a sizable Italian population it'd be even harder for me to keep track, given the similarities between them as well. I'm shamefully uncultured, but at least I admit to it. XD

I'll admit this is the same reason I started playing. :P The reason I tried Arch was that one friend of mine basically quit HT for it and I've had my moments when I felt like ragequitting HT's community. But a couple hours on Arch reminds me why I stay. XD

I've been questing some on my archer lately and I've seen plenty of lower levels around, and not just for cultivation quests.

There is definitely a lot of power leveling and WC drama. It can be fun sometimes but I usually keep it off because it's a bit much.

I can't really comment on the difficulty of finding squads because I usually play with a small-ish group of friends and almost never bother with random squads unless asked to help out.
Only really international part of Archo is the bizarre number of Fijians I believe we lead the MMO universe in them.

I've wondered at this myself. O.o
