Does anyone know?

A good trustworthy free MMO game I can install temporary which will automatically extract d3dx9_41 & d3dx9_42 to my pc? I've bin trying to download some games this week in the hope the right files would come along with it (since PWI won't do it)... So far from what I can see in my Windows32 folder is I gathered from d3dx9_24 to d3dx9_40... So I'm still 2 short... Does anyone knows which games might contain these? Preferable a game from PWE or Aeria games or another trustworthy company... Games i tried so far for this purpose: Grand fantasia (which serves as a nice temporary replacement game for now), Eden Eternal & Runes of Magic... Thanks in advance... b:thanks

Well this file isn't meant to come with your PWI installation. It's part of DirectX 9.0c.
If I was you, I'd try installing the official version from microsoft and if it still doesn't work then I'd start troubleshooting.

Installing other games just hoping it would get PWI to work is... ergh.

You can try Forsaken World, it's quite a nice distraction from PW, because you don't have to focus your time as much as PW, and you nearly don't have to Cash Shop at all..

You get money from doing quests, just do daily quests in FW, and you will get money and EXP from it, those daily quests are super easy to do.

For contributing in Guild, you only need to do at least 1 daily Guild Quest to show you're care, and it tooks like.. the most 1 hour to complete.
If your Guild has a base, do the Guild Quest & Guild Base Quest daily.

I do all Guild Quest & Guild Base Quest daily available everyday and it only took me around 2-3 hours max, I never had short fund or anything even tho I don't support my in-game financial with Cash Shop, I Cash Shop in FW for Fashions only..

The addictive things in FW are the accomplishments thingy, like maxing your Alchemist job, Cook job, Miner job, Socialite job, Adventurer job, and many more.

All I wrote above is my opinion only tho, others may have different points of view.

I tried re-installing the damn thing more than often enough... You kinda overkilled me with this answer by now... Apparently this system won't let me delete or overwrite it's windows programs (yay for this not being my own windows) and collecting .dll files through games does work... I'm just looking for a game that is new enough to get the damn .dll file extracted to where it belongs (it's to much risk just placing files in System32 myself since I need this pc for other things as well) since most games come with the required .dll files and then when it done it's work uninstall the worthless game and finally play PWI...

lordhanzo: I think you misread something but I'm not looking for a new game to play... I just want to abuse a game that extracts files like d3dx9_42.dll so I can play PWI again... I do really appreciate that you wanted to help me though... b:thanks

Yeah but I heard you can break your windows if you manually put .dll files into your System32 folder... Isn't this risky?

not really. As long as you know that's the file you need you will be fine.

also wanna comment that I am a fan of Final Fantasy, Kingdom hearts, Star Ocean and anime too lol.

OMG!!!!! I found a better fix! I just copied the file to the games Element folder... I thought it was worth a try and less risky... And it ****ing worked!!! I'm gonna share this with the rest in the tech-support forums... Such an easy fix... b:victory

I have those files... PWI acknowledged them... Argh so frustrating...

k i was just trying to be a scumbag.

You can download DirectX 9.0c From Microsoft's Oficial Webpage, it will automatically install these DLLs without changing your DirectX version at all.

Edit: Just to state it. Before I downloaded and installed Dx9.0c my Dx was DirectX 11.
now it is.... DirectX 11.
The difference is that the game works now.

Dunno what else to say but: Copy the two files Escorian linked into the windows folder they belong to.

I highly doubt anything else will fix it and your computer won't blow up by doing that.

Just a little caveat from personal experience here - Anytime you are replacing older files with new files ALWAYS rename the old files with a temporary extension like .BAK or something. This ensures that if the new files are corrupted or not compatible or has unpredictable behavior you can always revert back to the older files that were there.

The inability to see your chars in the game just means that you have to update your directX runtimes.

Yuna placed the files in System32, rebooted the system, and tried starting the game again... It was not very effective...

Well at least it didn't wreck my Windows... And my precious programs still work... *sigh* I'm clueless... But at least I can stay in contact and let mom be my daily slave for now... b:surrender

Sadly microsoft has no available updates for DirectX for me atm... 1st thing I checked...

God I hate to suggest this but maybe uninstall and reinstall the game from scratch.

Yeah I'm gonna try that tonight... Again... My slave *cough* pc still has other work to do right now... But i was already considdering it... b:thanks

Edit: Maybe someone know the exact list of needed .dll files? Maybe a batch can be made so I can just put in in the Element folder (yes dev's like I said, it works, so next time deliver the damn files as well b:angry) and be done with it...

Oh... Well duh... I was missing the D3DCompiler_42.dll... No wonder it wouldn't work... it was incomplete... Annyway... To fix any invisible issues download the .zip, extract it and then copy to PW, Element... Finaly it works... XD
