Bubbles you should be ashamed! Never encourage the use of IE of any type!

Sigh, I enjoyed the old days when my boyfriend (now ex) was a computer specialist and did all the work for me.

What someone else said is correct, with the sheer amount of time and effort your putting into trying to resolve this issue, its best just to re install the OS. I'm getting a new laptop next month which is why I can say this without caring. If you took this approach you could simply install the best anti virus, delete IE, install Google Chrome (its a lot more simpletic in looks then firefox with useful addons) and never have to worry about your computer again cause you started it's new life with the best possible tools.

Delete your history physically like someone else suggested. I would recommend some of the software I use for defragging and whatnot but they were all made by people I know, not downloaded from a website. (That reminds me to email my ex and get a copy of his external anti virus)

If all else fails, send it in to get repaired (Have it get lost in the mail) and cash in on the insurance to get a new one (cough, cough) Never trust UPS >.>

If someone wants to use IE, let them. I use it and have very few problems, cos I hate chrome and firefox annoys me. (I use it only when IE (Rarely nowadays) cannot properly deal with a webpage and for my other accounts log-in cookies).

Recommending she update to the latest and closest to perfect one isn't a bad idea b:bye

Seriously. Try using the ****ing browser for half a year. IE9 is stable and secure (IE8 less so admittedly).
I've quit excluding TW for my faction. But I still hang around to help out those who still enjoy the game under PWEs horrific handling and to have fun in the forums. b:cute
#Shame about PWEs absolutely craptastic handling of the goons glitching. Remember kids, there's no punishment for breaking the rules here!#
If you make a valid complaint, your thread will disapear. Don't post it here, post it on other sites where PW can't hide it.

Lol Don't use AVG, it ruins your computer as you can clearly see.

Download this and run a scan if your computer isn't completely **** yet.

Finally someone who uses IE too! I dont know... I'm so used to IE that switching to a new browser is just kind of... weird. I like normal and boring and not changing anything and I've rarely had problems with IE, except what I originally typed up. I'm on a Vista so I guess I'd install IE9? I've heard problems with IE8 is **** so i'm kinda worried about updating my IE :c Do you have IE9?

Linux main focus is casual pc users who don't know how to install a driver, don't want to care about antivirus and get annoyed when their pc reminds them t update every 10 mins...

The "Linux is for experts only" doesn't work nowadays. Even my grandfather can prove that to you.

Actually, I do update my pc when updates pop up, and I do care about getting an antivirus which is why I have Trend Micro and have regular scans every week. I may not know how to "install a driver" but everything that I don't know how to do, my brother can do or teach me. b:chuckle

I use IE 9. It's a huge chunk better than 8 (8 I did not like much, but at the time of use I was not in control of the PC I was using). And I would assume a million miles better than 7.

I myself know what I'm doing with my computer and use it, friends who are experts with computers still use other browsers but most willingly state that 9 is considerably closer to matching the standards used and stable compared to any previous version.

Gotta say that the toolbars do move around a chunk and you will need to enable the ones you like (By default file, edit view etc are hidden).

As a bonus, since I'm sure IE7 didn't have it you will gain access to tabbed browsing.

    Maybe I should reword that...

    Compatibility.

There are a lot programs don't support linux. Sure this is wine and such but why bother if you don't have a real use for linux...

There's nothing wrong with using windows.
Viruses only happen if you allow them to.
    Updates aren't that bad.

About the updates, i was talking about reminds to reboot the pc every 10 mins. Just typed something different b:surrender

And you're lucky to have a bother. But you don't really have the need to care about virus or other things with Linux. 99% works out of the box.

About the 1% left, there's tons of tutorials about the same stuff in the Internet.

Linux is for experts.... Or people who only use their PC as a web browser. Trying to do half of what I can do in a few clicks on windows takes much ****ing around to do on Linux because **** I want (games) isn't made for Linux and Wine, whilst useful, is far from perfect or a replacement for just flat out using windows. Linux has no use for the vast majority of PC users.

As for viruses, the only reason you don't have them is because your market share is tiny. Security by obscurity will not last forevor.

But I'll look into downloading it, I'm not sure but I think the version you can download depends on your OS, right? But i'll see and let you know how IE9 goes b:victory

Take the time to understand that behind Linux development there's a worlwide community workind to support Linux and you'll realise that there's a lot more than what meets the eye.

Linux is made to play as well. Some games and some publishers are not made to publish games under Linux. That indeed, is marketshare fault.

Sorry but that is a flat out lie.

The community for Linux is broken and twisted, there are so many distributions with a zillion tiny changes and tweaks it can be impossible to just run things.

Linux is used less than Mac ffs and Mac leaves you with zilch control. However Mac is pretty much one current version and very easy to find support for.

There's a reason people use Windows, and it's because it hit the happy medium of control, stability and ease of use while leaving near everything open to the user.

there are only 2 things that Linux loses for windows: hardcore gaming (for the lack of gaming publishers) and graphic edition (Adobe simply does not look for linux). And i'm pretty sure that OP shouldn't worry about that if her/his brother does pretty much everything for her.
