Okay, what pets should you have that are not CS ones for a PVE veno?

I am looking at

Glacier Walker (ground, tank)
Abysmal Turtle (water)

What others should I look into?

A flyer or pure dps?

Here are some pets you can pick from:

    There two are essential:
Glacial Walker/Magmite - tank / DD in dungeons
    Sawfly/Skatefish - air / DD

    These are optional:
    Abysmal Turtle - water
Plumpfish - water (if you didn't bother leveling the turtle much)
    Eldergoth Marksman/Sharpshooter - ranged
    Kowlin - lure
Windwalking Piggy - air / tank
    Nivastok Shieldbearer - looking cool

The only thing a Kowlin is good for is selling it.
If you're using a Glacial Walker or Magmite to tank in dungeons: you're wasting your time.
If you level your Abysmal Turtle you wasted your time .
There is no need for an Air tank unless you wanna solo the likes of XenoSpace Drake in which case GL!

One of your most useful pets at 100+ is a cactopod from Eden like an Ethereal Inamorato. An Eldergoth Marksman will allow you to tank some stuff only a Herc or Nix would otherwise. Both cactopod and Marksman are better lurers than a kowlin, and pet luring is practically obsolete.

Dark Wanderer and Scorpions make good DD pets. Lunar Lupins come with a high level Howl at a level before you could otherwise get it which helps with your hits per kill when solo grinding, and debuffing mag def for squads. I wouldn't recommend keeping or investing in the Lupin for long term though. Use it to see if you'd like Howl on your DD pets.

PWI Anniversary Mount -A must have in anyone's pet bag!

I agree with thumbs on getting the dark wanderer or scorpion.
Ever since I lvld my dark wanderer I hardly find myself using my herc apart from bosses. It deals more damage, so stuff will die before it even reaches you, it's tanky enough for normal mobs and you can learn it some good agro skills :]
It's also very usefull on bosses if you don't tank because of the DD

Well just farmed up a bunch of the eggs, figure I can sell some and keep the ones I need.

Dark Wanders for the grinder and soon main once I got a decent stash to make things easier leveling (without having to worry about costs)

if you get the wanderer, add skills

Level the bash as high as you can. Level 5 is maximum.
Your pet should be able to hold agro off while you're not high enough to really take it with your nicely refined gears.

I agree with the people above me: Wanderer for DPS, walker for tank, sawfly for air and plumpfish for water is what I would do o_o

yeah noticed that, where the glacier walker has level 2 in three skills making it better skillwise at least.

So got to get to the book seller and price bash for the walker, or keep it for looks and use the walker

All applied skills generate aggro. What's most important is how frequently those skills can be triggered. When you get to 100 and start putting on some serious DD: your pet, even a Nix on a [?] isn't going to hold aggro. I've said this in the past when I was 8x and I'll say it now: Howl is one of the best skills you can put on your pet. To beat howl: a cleric has to make themselves vulnerable temporarily. Mystics also have an mdef debuff that's AoE but it's only 20%. Howl is how I soloed Djinn, prepared for boss 2 in FFC, how I beat out L100s in PQ2, and how I went from 3 hit kills to 2. What's more is the legendary pets don't have it. Other venos scoffed at me when I used my Scorpion on PQ2, but they got far less points than me (knowing I had better matk & -ch I used Howl to offset the patk/matk ratio). I kid you not: I pissed a lot of them off and humiliated them.
