So, I am stuck on what to put in my daggers. Some people are telling me to put 2 DoT's in my rank 8 daggers, and others are telling me to put Garnet +75 gems in my daggers and to be honest I'm not sure which one to go with. So could you please tell me the pro's and cons of putting in DoT's and garnets please.

b:infuriated why the hell people still think its better to use DOT then garnet, the bonus in damage is way better with garnet then DOT because the garnet bonus add up in the maths for your base damage, not the DOT........

meh, i dont know the math, but i remember someone posting the maths that proved this

    Garnet Gem is better.

Garnet Gem adds to your base damage, whereas DoT adds to your overall damage, so Garnet Gems ends up being tons more effective.

    Assume the following:
    Level 10 Mastery (+60% damage)
    450 Dexterity (+300% damage)
    Weapon damage 900-1,200

    Now, with DoT, you'd get:
    Minimum damage: 900 * (1+3+0.6) * 1.02 = 4,222
    Maximum damage: 1,200 * 4.6 * 1.02 = 5,630

    With Garnet Gem, you'd get:
    Minimum damage: (900 + 75)*4.6 = 4,485
    Maximum damage: 1,275 * 4.6 = 5,865

Obviously, this is just a plain example, but the same principle is true and the more accurate answer isn't really interesting.

If you see b:cute be sure to take a second, calm look at anything I said.

DOT's in Weapon's. Stop doing it.
Page 2 of the sin forums.

Basically a DoT is about equal to a grade 5 Average Garnet. 16k vs 16 mil.

Every time someone puts a DoT in their weapon, Typhyse kills a kitten.
