New Launcher and being able to run PW on two instances

I thought my PW had crashed so I hit the X at the top left of the screen. I then tried to open the launcher again and was told I was still logged in, after I entered my password.

It took me a short while to realise, but it seems that one can now run two PW clients at the same time.

I am not bothered either way, as I usually use a laptop for my seller account and this PC for playing, but official word on whether this is intentional by PW or bannable would be much appreciated, please.

Thank you!

Bannable to run two clients on same system- called multi clienting and you can get a slap on the wrist from it if you do it on purpose.

cept the reason for the bans comes from when the launcher itself didnt' let you do this. And please dont' bring up you could've gone around the launcher anyway (w/o modding).... lol Still, funny this pops up AGAIN after a what.. 10 page flame war? And it hasnt' even been a week. Still dont' have a reason from any GM (valid or not) why it's STILL bannable....

yep all they've ever said was it's bannable, and they quote the TOS where it says using exploits or w/e.... yet that doesnt' mention a damn thing about this.... They were twisting words using that quote from the TOS, but back then it kinda made sense, considering you had to mod the game to do it (or so some of us thought anyway). But now you dont' have to, the GAME lets you, so.... that reason's been invalid for quite awhile now. Plus most if not all their other games they let you do this. Which begs the question that i pm'ed Frankie about 3X in the last thread and STILL no answer, WHY can you honestly still ban people for dong what everyone else already does with 2 pc's? I'd love to see the answer but I'm not holding my breath waiting...

You have to try bannable things first and get caught to find out whether they are bannable or not. Also depends which GM is judging you, I think they don't have one formal opinion, and if you ask them direct question, you don't get straight answer. ToS are as vague as possible. Don't get me wrong, they have to do it this way, they need to keep control. What would this game be if everyone was throwing quotations on GMs like we do on forums, demanding results by leading cases. Yet I would love to see those straight answers. It's just not gonna happen... ever.

They do give a straight answer. The answer is "It's not allowed. It's a bannable offense. Don't do it." It doesn't get any more straightforward than that.

What they haven't given (and probably won't) is a reason for this.

Ok ya that's a "straight answer", but it doens't make any damn SENSE anymore lol..... It's like have a 4 wheel car and only being allowed to use two wheels.... idk first thing i thought of....

Unfortunately, they don't HAVE to give us a "why", other than "it's against ToS". =/

Cept it isnt' against the TOS. You cant' even say we're exploiting anything and THAT's the line they always quote. Like all their other games their own launcher lets you do it now, and it's not bannable in the others..... so..... bleh

I hate how quoting works on this forum Dx

Alasen, it IS against ToS...because they say it is. =/ Simple as that. As ToS states, they have the right to decide what's bannable, and what's not, even if the thing in question isn't necessarily written specifically in the ToS.

ya and that's the vauge **** in every TOS that when people take the companies to court for various **** (which HAS happened), it never holds up cause w/e the complaint was wasn't specifically in the TOS..... still you have to admit this still being bannable makes absolutely no sense.

Yea it doesnt make sence even i can say that one, I cant quite figure the reason my self why it is, theres no logic, with that said, a ton of people multi-client anyway and there isn't really any way for the devs to figure out unless its so obvious thats its unreal and then someone actually bothers to report, which in most cases, no one really will.

I don't think anyone is disputing that it makes no sense. That does raise the question of why you (among others) keep pestering Frankie to give a reason that makes sense. He won't because he can't.

It's bannable because PWE says it's bannable, and ... well that's all you need to know.

I know damn well what it means. How old are you 5? this pat pat **** was like 6 months ago.... and quite frankly you pk'ing people in the glitched room of the cube was stupid as all hell considering it's bannable. Like i said then you must be really bored. I ask you why you're so bored you're doing that and you get your ENTIRE faction to spam that **** for over an hour. Ya.... Enrage is full of adults that act their age huh?

I'm not squealing about **** here. We're trying to have a actual civilized convo about this and your'e just barging in like a little kid and wasting thread space with your useless dribble. Go play with your Legos you moron.

Except that, unless the person doing it states that they are, there really is no way to tell whether someone is multi-clienting or multi-boxing. That's assuming that PWProtector can't detect it...

Well... last time i checked the GMs made the rules up as they go on stuff like this that isn't spelled out.... so you're telling me the gm's dont' know the reason for one of their own rules?

I wonder ... you guys still don't get it, do you? So read ToS again, you all agreed them.
    Let me quote one thing:
"PWE MAY SUSPEND, TERMINATE, MODIFY, BLOCK ACCESS TO OR DELETE THE SERVICE OR ANY ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME WITH OR WITHOUT REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE."

The questions we want answers for are simply irrelevant. There is no such thing as exclusively bannable thing. They just ban what they want. And again, don't get me wrong... Yet I would like to have a chance to know what will I be banned for before it happens, but by telling us they would cut their powers.

However, its nice to tattle with you all;)

No. They've already said why it is currently bannable. It's bannable because it's always been bannable. It's easier to continue the current policy than it is to change it.

I suppose if you want to dig a bit deeper and ascribe a "technical" motive to it: It's easier to continue the current policy than it is to pore over the spaghetti code, determine what potential bugs/glitches might be affected by having two concurrent elementclient.exe processes running on the same box, and whether or not the change that made it possible without modding was intended or a byproduct of the devs working on code they don't really understand.

Personally, I think it's because they're too lazy to look into it, but I may be wrong.
