Reduce Physical Damage by x% apply to Magical Damage?

For some reason, I vaguely recall from some forum post that the "Reduce Physical Damage by x%" property on items also applies to Magical Damage. However, I am unsure if this is due to faulty memory, simply wishful thinking on my part, or something else. In any case, can someone confirm if the property description is accurate, or if it actually applies to both Physical and Magical damage?

    I've never heard of it working for anything but physical damage. o.o

    i dont think there are any items, that have this type of bonus for magic dmg.

    however, in eye of observation, there is stat for this - for some odd reason (maybe thats why someone thought that % apply to both?).
    what is even more weird about it, is fact that some people have few % sometimes (in eye)
    i never found a rule, which explains how you get those bonuses tho

    i always had 0% mag def bonus in eye (9% pdef bonus from gear is shown correctly there)

    i met few players (only melees i think) that had few mag % in eye, but different than % from their p.def bonus gear.


    i just consider it as one of over9000 pw bugs and i think stat from eye is a lie

    Defence level applies to both - but no, I'm not aware of any items that give %magical damage reduce.

    The %reduce is actually a very nice bonus for characters who have low pdef.

    some nirvana gears DO give mag dmg redution

    Not entirely. It may not seem like it does much in PvE, but in PvP 3% reduction shows up in a big way.

    nv dont have bonus dmg reduction, but bonus% of m.def stat

    ehh not really, same as def lvl stones, i see funny noobs running around with full +2 def shards, which ends up having like 30 def lvl or 30% reduction in ur case.

    and at the same time, maybe like 6 g11 garnets would give the same effect, hope some ppl will start using their brains some time.

    in the end, %^reduce is better for those who already have HIGH pdef, not those who have LOW, they should go for raw pdef instead.b:bye

    Because garnets protect against magic too.

    Just pointing out why it isn't silly to run around with def stones. She was saying noobs use def stones, when they could just use garnets. I think people more use def stones for general defence and to cancel out the jones' blessing.

    As long as you dont have +10 pdef belt and neck and if ur AA class you should not go full def stones, it fails.

    You would end up having like 1.5k pdef and still take more dmg than some1 with 4k pdef and half the def level.
