Personally im going to say hell no!
im not putting any effort into this game before something changes radically! If they were to come out with a new instance to farm better gear I would consider stickin around.

my theory is they are giving away r8/9 right now because they want ppl to spend coin on rep and chips before they come out with better gear in the near future!

No, the only thing worth doing in this case if logging off and uninstalling. Unless you don't care for PVP, but after level 100 there isn't anything left to do. If you go in to pk without Rank9 you'll just get rolled over and over and over.

As far as Rank8, Its not bad but you might as well stick to tt99 with all the bonuses and what not unless your only going for the weapon. If that is the case then yes. $72...

Honestly though I don't think its time to discuss this topic yet. We should wait until the end of the sale and see where we stand.

agree,,Nirvana is from last expansion, and genesis is coming out soon, who knows what "new fancy" gears will come with that

I was looking into r8 for Barbs, its definitely better than Nirv G13 weapon, nice ring.....ok chest plate.

I had 10K rep before all this, so its only going to cost me like 60 gold for it, which I could just go buy in AH.

If gold drops under 900K, I might consider it.


Sad thing is, its basically just back up gear to have. rofl


But overall, yea, Barbs get **** compare to wizzys in terms of r8 usefulness.b:shocked

Reputation sale, at least for this panda, is no where near worth getting R8.

No matter how much/little it costs, the rank gear just isn't near as good as the Nirvana set Fuzzy already has.

Unless you want the ring and weapon then just stick to tt99, it is by far better than R8 at least for a barbarian. This is just my opinion though. Now rank 9.... different story... b:dirty

My main reasons why I was considering r8:

-Better weapon, sure it can't zerk, but it hits harder than G13 Nirv.

-I will have 21% base crit, 56% crit with Onslaught for 6 seconds, 26% crit for 1 minute with Titan buff.

-I will still have my 13K+ HP in human since I am a claw dex Barb too.


Just wondering on rank 8 guys, thats all. lol

It's just seems like I can get some benefits, however, if farming with 5.0 aps is dead, no point to blow monies on it.

I know we have all discussed the aps craze so I'm not looking for that lecture again, but will people want R8 barbs or Aps barbs now??

Is this the end of the "Aps phase" of PWI, or is rank gear going to be the new "standard" for us??

Aps will always be the best for pve. For pvp... who needs a weapon when you can't even reach the opponent?

APS, as stated before, is greater than r8 in PvE uses.

My main reasoning of considering r8 was just for a better weapon, nothing else really. lol

You can be both R8 and APS.

Oh, and I stand by my previous observation that the R8 weapon looks like an egg on a stick.

b:chuckle I can't claim it to be the best, but I like the variety, makes things interesting. There are different builds with different combos, find the one you enjoy.

Yea, it really does, hitting very hard for high dmg with r8 weapon, or...

Alright, my first impressions as an r8 Barb.


When you have 200K rep, you can go rank 8, common knowledge. Upon going rank 8, you can get a few equipments.

Rank 8 Weapon: ☆☆Dominating Power

The fee for it is 2 million coins to get. Always 2 sockets.

Rank 8 Ring: ☆☆General's Badge

Free upon getting rank 8.

Rank 8 Chest Plate: ☆Plate of Dominating Power

Fee is 1 million coins, 90% 3 socket, 10% 4 socket I believe. You can retry once a day for 4 sockets and max stats, but must pay the 1 mill fee. My review, its better than TT99 chest plate, has better pdef and mdef. Personally, its your choice, if you prefer having TT99 set bonuses, this probably won't matter to you then.

Rank 8 Leggings: ☆Cuisses of Dominating Power

Again, better base pdef and mdef than TT99 leggings, just barely though. Gives more vit and HP+ bonuses. Again, if you want max stats and sockets, you can retry at 1 mill a day.

Rank 8 Belt: ☆Seal of Dominating Power

1 mill fee again, its basically your OHT belt. Not worth getting if you have your OHT belt from the OHT quests.

Overall, its have nice benefits for Barbs, you can get loads of HP and vit from it. In comparison to TT90 gold axes, a good crit-zerk can possibly do more dmg, but other than that, r8 weapon out-DDs it. Rank 8 has a nice stun touch to all normal atks. If you are a Demon Barb, the crits you can get from r8 only helps you more.

I give r8 for Barbs a 8.5/10. b:chuckle

I saw this thread and figured I'd add my input, seeing as I have rank 8 now. :-p

The weapon: Awesome for aoe instances like frost and gv. It looks like a giant baby rattle. It also refines very well since it is g14.

The belt: Pointless, I didn't get it since I have my 4th map belt.

The chest and legs: I put these together because together they push up my phys. def. considerably. I currently have the full 99 gold set. Thus, I will not be using these until I refine them enough to make up for the lost hp. These are g12 pieces.

The ring: Awesome, I just wish it also added accuracy and not channeling.

I was thinking about trying to go R8 maybe for my endgame stuff. I love my OHT set but it does lack some zing/power to it.

Yea, there isn't any wristguards sadly. If you don't plan on having G15 Axes from Nirvana, or G15 Nirv armor, I fully recommend going rank 8 then.

So awkward thinking rank 8 is soo easily attainable now. lol

Not really... there were plenty of r8 and nirvana peeps in TW before the sale. I don't see the extra r8s making much difference for barbs; we're already massively ganked by all the heavy DDs that more r8 won't make any difference. If you're a vit barb with gear good enough to TW and play the class right, most of the time it's the perma stuns that kill you.

Rank 9 on the other hand... that's a different story. b:surrender
