How many rough furs / purified oils / silk threads / concentrated glues should I get?

Hello.

I have read that once past level 39; it gets harder to gather rough furs, purified oils, silk threads and concentrated glues because they do not drop from monsters any more.

I am level 39. How many should I gather before I level up? I know I will probably have to feed xp to my genie to avoid leveling up.

Thanks in advance.

well, let's put it this way... the level 4 blacksmithing quest, alone, requires 13 silk thread, 30 rough fur, and 12 purified oil, just to attempt to make one each of the two-star items you'll be expected to make. and there's no guarantee that the items you make will end up two-stars. plus, of course, there's the tailor quest.

most folks seem to start an alternate character and level it up to 30-something just to farm materials on and mail it to their main.

Just stay 39 until you have all the 2-stars crafted (check sticky to find out which ones to make.)

imho, delaying your leveling to farm staff is not the wisest option since usually you can make more coins/time when you are higher and buy those mats. on the other hand, it's up to u xD

Yeah, the only way to be sure is to actually make the items.

For me, the Craftsman quest was incredibly fast --- I got all the items, and didn't even reach 100%. The Tailor, on the other hand, happily took all my materials and just laughed at me; took a long time to get the items. I haven't even started with Blacksmith yet, since I don't have materials to throw at him anymore.

So much for the "eventually I should be able to make stuff that I'll actually use".
Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng

Well its really upto you. I halted my levelling till I got all the 2*s for blacksmith and tailor since I didnt want to pay a boatload of cash to buy the mats or the finished 2*s. This also gave more money to work with at those levels.

The best chance Ive seen is,

1.) Acquire enough mats to make 3 qtys of a particular 2* item
2.) Set 3 Qtys in the manufacturing equip window for that particular 2*
    3.) Press Start

4.) More often than not, you will end up with a 2* of that item.
