I think a mod app thread is a horrid idea period, so I'd vote no for all of them.

However if I were forced to choose, I guess I'd go with SerenityMare. I've seen consistently, quietly intelligent and polite posts out of her.

No on all kinds of applications.

In fact, if I were to make the choice, I'd disqualify every single one of the applicants for applying in the first place.
I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. Please, take a second to read a person's username.
If you see b:cute be sure to take a second, calm look at anything I said.

I'll make this simple, the reason why people won't want me as a mod is because I take the truth, the facts, and force feed them to people.

The fact that players are greedy as hell and want everything for nothing, the fact that the sellers are the ones that control the prices, not the buyers, the fact that most players don't know how to play, the fact that most players are whiny brats that refuse to learn how to play. (see the TT topic)

I take these simple truths, and tell it how it is. Another fact, people can't handle truth. They like to live in their own little world where they are god and never wrong.

Persona 4 puts it well: People only hear what they want to hear and only believe what they wish to believe. They ignore everything that doesn't give them exactly what they want, when they want it, and how they want it. They prefer the foggy world the main characters in this game were fighting against. Truth, is what they fear more than anything.

Hate to say but I actually do agree with most of your points.

Only problem is that you have no idea what "truth" is. All you understand is your own delusions.

Rawrgh - He's known on the forums, but he is nowhere near mod material. I think these pictures will change yes's to a no. My two cents for him.

LovesTragedy - ...... I have no clue who they are.

Deora - Deora is awesome. Handles situations well in my opinion. Gets my vote for sure.

Dsholder & Longknife - No, no, and just no.

Grippielover - Mhmm, I'd love to say yes as a friend... But I'm going to say no. Grippie, you have a baby to take care of anyways. Don't stress yourself enough on the forums.

Zoe - Huge no from me too.

buttercupcruella - Mixed feelings but I'm siding on the no side.

    FuzzyWuzzy & LifeHunting - ..... No.

Krisnda - Krisnda is known, but handling mod... I'm not sure, I'm just going to go with a neutral side on this one.

FaelinRain - I have never, ever heard of them before. No.

    Barber - Maybe. Just.. Maybe.

Hanman5000, LOKI, Kiyoshi, Dantell, Pressa, KrittyCat, PAYUPSUCKA & Nowitsawn - No.

SerenityMare - Serenity is nice, has been around for a while. Going to go with a yes on this one, only concern is if they can handle the mod without stress but otherwise is good from me.

    Emmanueljr - No >_>

    Aesthor - Maybe.

    My two cents.

I think you're just going to love these screenshots even more
I'll even link them in order just so you can read them that way.

    -removed for naming and shaming-

As I said in faction chat in the screenshots,
I do not want to have a spammer/troll as a moderator.
He has been repeatedly rude to people, and in-game as you can see.
A moderator should be someone you can look up to.
    Not what he is.
    Love ya too Rawrgh

Edit: Shelly, I'm honestly shocked you thought that was a private conversation.
Thats on our FACTION CHAT, not PMs which are in PINK or DARK BLUE.
    Thats public, not private.
Please learn the difference before you remove next time.

Lol srs business. I would like to think that frankie was capable of picking appropriate mods without anyone's help.

(Of course, the mod app thread kind of negates this point.)

Methinks the app thread is important so that when frankie does pick a mod everyone wont be all "WHAT WHY DIDN'T _____ BECOME A MOD INSTEAD /rage" when said player didn't apply in the first place.

That should just be ignored. Being a mod is not a popularity contest unfortunately. Besides, they'd just dump it all in 1 thread and ignore xP

    LovesTragedy - Neutral.
    Deora - Yes.
    Dsholder - No.
Longknife - No, but should get his own forum title.
Grippielover - Probably yes, but only as a mod for a few sections of the forums like the Suggestions and Off-topic sections.
    Zoe - No. Just no.
    buttercupcruella - Neutral.
    FuzzyWuzzy - Yes.
    LifeHunting - No opinion.
    Krisnda - Yes.
    FaelinRain - No opinion.
Barber - Provided his claims are correct, then yes. However, the tone of the post makes it seem like he's not really throwing his hat into the ring, but more so wishing the others good luck.
    Hanman5000 - No opinion.
    LOKI_- Neutral.
    Kiyoshi - No.
    Dantell - No opinion.
    Pressa - No opinion.
    KrittyCat - Neutral.
    PAYUPSUCKA - No.
Nowitsawn - Like Grippie, I think Now would make a good mod for just certain sections of the forums. Not the entire forum though.
    SerenityMare - Yes.
    Emmanueljr - No opinion.
    Aesthor - No opinion.

Yes = I have no problem with that person becoming a mod and think they would be a good choice.
Neutral = I have no problem with that person becoming a mod.
No = I do not think that person should be a mod at all.
No opinion = I have no idea who that person is.

    Hah, yes.

I would have applied for it - mostly as a complete and total time keeper because I don't particularly want to mod such volatile forums and certainly wouldn't get the vote of the people either - but sadly (and conveniently? -cough-) my ban expired on the very same day that thread ended up locked. No applications for Airy, nothing gained and nothing lost.

I'd have mostly just done it for fun to see the absolutely raging QQ it would have spawned...

I have to go with this too - not that my opinion will count as ****.
Players as Mods = those who will favor friends, look the other way when they shouldn't and play heavys on those ppl they don't like.

Common sense tells you not to use players, but hey..since when has PW ever run on that, hmm? lol

I actually agree with this, but since we already have mods that are players, it's really a moot point to argue.

As for people shouldn't be mods if they ask, SOMETIMES that is true. It is circumstantial. Usually it applies to people who ask to have a position right out of the blue. When the higher ups actually ask for applications, then that argument is null. If you keep insisting that people who apply when applications are actually asked for are not eligible then no one would apply, which defeats the point of asking.

I would actually disagree but it is just a gut feeling that what you say isn't true, from being a mod for many years. Difference of opinion.

But in my opinion there's nothing wrong with players as mods. The right players just have to be chosen.

    +1 to this

I've always worked that people asking out of the blue or begging for moderating positions are bad choices. But when a higher up asks for applications, it's basically like applying for a job. I used a metaphor somewhere, and I'll use it again here:

A guy walks into a bank, goes up to the manager and says "Hey I want to be a -whatever- and this is why!"
    Manager says no.

Five weeks later, there's a new position in the bank to be filled. Manager allows people to apply officially for this job. Several people apply. One of them will be picked.

See the difference? Treat moderation as a job; asking in this case is not the same as applying and the two are separate.

The problem with volunteer mods on public forums is they have no incentive to do things right except their own motivations. As I said on my app I've been a volunteer mod on public forums before. I did not have to be online at pre-ordained hours, I just popped in whenever I chose. That meant instead of shifts there were sometimes multiple mods online at once and sometimes there are none. i

However one of the best things about volunteer mobs on public forums (I've been one too) is that they are almost always more invested in the community than an outsider. And if they're chosen properly, they don't get nearly the amount of hate our overworked understaffed non community member mods get here. The community is more willing (as a general rule, not as an absolute truth) to work with them and to take judgments they make as acceptable.

^ This. And they're more likely to actually care about moderating well instead of being overzealous or act too hastily.

Also, people can be unbiased and treat everyone equally. Most of the people who don't believe this aren't capable of it themselves.
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.
