Why do people assume 90+ BMs can tank FC?

Question is in the title.

I'm about halfway in experience points before I hit 90, and to be honest, I don't feel much like a "tank". Now, I understand BMs have many different builds (mine being axe/fist, so I dont have tons of VIT).

I understand that maybe a pure fist/VIT BM can be a great tank, but whats throwing me off is why it's such a popular assumption that BMs lvl 90 and over can tank FC. I've had some convos with fellow FCers and they will say things like "Just you wait, when you're FCing with lvl 90s, you won't need any barbs".

I guess I'm just wondering if theres some kind of skill/equipment that I may not be aware of that makes BMs a better tank than barbs at 90+?

Or is this just another one of those things about "playing your class" right (ie: You are a barb, therefore you tank. You are a cleric, therefore you heal. etc..)

I'm afraid of hitting lvl 90 and people squadding with me expecting me to pull when I barely have 5k hp and nothing terribly special as far as equipment goes.

BMs are never "better" tanks than barbs, but I've been tanking FC with a lvl 100 EP since I was 91. I'm also an axe/fist, but my secret was to shard my 90 helm, cape , and all armor with vit stones. So at 96, I can DD with 316 str, use deicide with my 193 dex and still have almost 7k hp enough to tank.

It's a hybrid build, so ppl are naturally angry about it. I'll still have 2.5 aps by lvl99 with claw so be able to be backup in nirvana.

started taking fcc at 84 with 5.2k hp just hit AD before you roar on big pulls and bring a BP slave and dont worry most squads are wimps and will cry for a barb even with 2-3 bm's

    (all weapon bm)

I have tanked about every boss in FCC, the EXP room without a cleric too and also pulled the dragons at the end, six at a time iirc. 5.5k HP here without barb buff, using all weapons.

BM equipped with TT90 can easily tank FC.
It's not that BMs are better tanks than Barbs, just that having no Barb means more DD, which means faster runs. That's why most 95+ FC squads don't take tank Barbs.

My favorite FC set up at 100 is

    Tank/puller BM
    2x Sins
    Archer
    Wiz
Cleric (or another Sin, if the DD is epic)

um ive tanked the first 6 exp rooms before the barb got back from afk. 6k hp, 15k p def helps with bloodpaint, tree of protection and cleric actually has holy path so he/she keep up with me. All done with mediocre tt70 armor lol.
AP classes are a real butt pounding...
