on JD they have the exact same fox mount, but its a bright, glowing, glittering red...how hard could it be to cut and paste that bit of code here? (seriously, i really dont know about that kind of thing, but it would be worth trying.) they also have dragons that i call buses, because they can carry 5 people at a time. look *really* weird to watch, though! ^_^ talk about loopy!The_BatGirl - Heavens Tear wrote: »I still think its another fail attempt to bring a new mount after the tidal serpent lol. I know this is complicated for you, which is why you should probably stick to bm-related stuff, because the picture you posted as so far off from what was being iterated that wild tangent could only suffice for a nickname. Relish it. b:bye
Umm... just no. You're correct this is an Asian designed game. It is not meant to emulate any Western culture. If it were designed to emulate a Western culture, you would indeed be correct, however it is not so your point is confusing at best.

Beijing. That is where the main PWE servers are, that is where the newest content gets released first. That is the market they are designing for and are catering to. They are merely exporting this game to their subsidiary in the US for the international market.
Is that too adult a puzzle for you to grasp? Apparently it is.Yeah. That's probably why localization is done in English in the US by publishers side (usually not the norm) opposed to an actual localization department which is development side. Fashion, and the like, are done development side, but why bother localizing something or having prominent westernized names and fashion if the game is that prominently asian cultured? Try actually working for the industry before pretending you know something and calling others ignorant. Otherwise this is all nonsense you're spewing, which is par for the course, wild tangent. I await the next hilarious response.
The development team, the quests, the content, the graphics and the items such as fashion and mounts (With the exception of the Midnight and Nightfall) are all created primarily for the Chinese servers and the users there.
PWI has some small influence on what actually happens in-game, but it's mostly limited to moderation, choice of sales and whether or not they wish to implement a specific feature or not, i.e., horns, chienkun stones, housing system, etc...
The content here is somwhat controlled by PWI but it is not designed or created here, for the most part.
That's just too difficult for you to understand because you really don't see the larger picture. The larger picture is that PWE makes a lot of money from PWI but doesn't really care what the users over here think or want. Again, duh... you didn't ever notice or realize this? Geez. There is no "subsidiary". Whether or not development and publishing has been done by the same company, the same roadblocks still apply, which is region based. Their culture, which was stated numerous times now, had influence on the original development but not the kind they are trying to sell to the international community outside their asian region. In large part, they ignore their publishers and are highly paranoid to give much authority to their own publishers, never mind outside publishers. This is a cultural thing about how they go about their business matters which is reflected upon the game and it's design. Again, try actually working for the industry instead of writing a bunch of crappy fluff, wild tangent. The more you write the more it's apparent you know little about this.VlLKASS - Sanctuary wrote: »Lol? Just saw one for 19m

A subsidiary of Perfect World Beijing, Perfect World Entertainment is a leader in publishing and operating massively multiplayer online games. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Redwood City, Calif., Perfect World Entertainment is bringing the pinnacle of online gaming to North American and international audiences.
Do I really need to give you a definition of the word subsidiary? PWE is the development company and the primary publisher. PWI is a subsidiary of PWE, a secondary company owned by the parent company, that markets the game designed for the Chinese market to the International market.

heres a company where you can order the real deal!
http://www.china-cart.com/a.asp?=Ancient+Chinese+Wedding+Gowns+and+Hats+2+Complete+Sets&d=14860
what i find interesting is that they are holding the ends of the ribbon that has the big 'cabbage rose" in the middle, that we see on groom outifits in the game. i have a feeling that the big 'rose belt' isnt supposed to be worn by the groom, but is something for the two to hold-a binding of the hands, perhaps?
anyway, i wish they would bring more of the native outfits into the game...Western wear looks so weird, in settings so classicly Eastern. i like the new one, and plan to get it when i can...its pretty, and im curious to see how those ribbons on the arms move.

Any more wild tangents to go on? You just reiterated what I said about the US and it's publisher, so really there's no new info here.
You're really a piece of work. Clueless as well. PWI and PWE offer the SAME version of the game to two different demographics, the only things that have been changed is the language... Do you not get that?
Apparently I have to go back to your original post since you don't even seem to know what you're talking about, just arguing for the sake of it, despite your continuing ignorance.JanusZeal - Heavens Tear wrote: »Your examples are correct, which is why I deleted them to avoid quoting extra stuff, however, as far as "out of touch" goes the explanation is simple -- F2P games tend to be lead by asian-based developers who know very little about western-style culture, which, using western-based publishers can only make up so much for -- this I know through experience. This is why wedding pack PWI wedding attire (particularly for males, but for females too) looks like a clown suit best for using at a circus. However, what's universal is the fact that people will pay enormous amounts for a seemingly-exclusive mount. It's a pixel-based status symbol (like owning an Enzo Ferrari.. just, a near million cheaper) I just won't understand nor follow along with.
First, the person you quoted noted examples that you agreed with, one being that Attendance Sheets were only worth 1 paltry Perfect Stone, and the second being a GM who thought that hay would be a good drop from an event boss. You liken this being due to the fact that PWI game developers are out of touch with Western Culture and go on to point out that the Groom Suit looks like a clown suit, so this further compounds to your agreement. I mean, really, come on.
This is a Chinese game based in Chinese mythology written by Chinese developers. The fact that this game has been translated into English for the international market means nothing. It does not alter the fact that whether or not the developers are indeed out of touch with Western culture, the themes, designs and mythology behind PWI isn't altered for a Western audience. PWI is another step removed from the Development team which do not work for PWI and are not based in the USA and are not responsible or most likely don't care if your opinions that they are out of touch with Western culture even matters because it doesn't and never.
I may be completely misunderstanding you, but your paragraphs are confusing, vague and rather rampantly random and the more I read the more apparent it is that you can't even outline an opinion, explain it and conclude it in any coherent and intelligible manner. Your point is jibberish and has no basis in reality despite you being so knowledgeable about the game industry having worked for a competitor... blah blah blah.
In other words, you're not saying anything that makes any sense, and you have yet to put up an argument that substantiates your claims. You're just proving to be a unsuccessful troll.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

Hmmm. Well as the original poster of the 2 examples I will say that it has taken a different tangent then I intended. I mean I don't care if the game has western or eastern roots. That's up the creative intuition of the developers. That's not what I call out of touch. I mean they could add 6 armed ninjas for all I care.
My point was that the devs and GMs are out of touch of player needs, the gaming community and the economy. With regard to the attendance sheets if they paid attention to the game in the least they would know that a perfect stone is only about 1k and does not equate to 1/90 of the third tier ring. Not even close. Or they'd know that hay isn't that big a deal or that great a "prize" for events.
Other shining examples I've pointed out in other threads are the chest of coins that need a hammer to open. Not to repeat myself across threads but it would likely take them about 10 minutes to do a query to see how many people have actually opened those stupid boxes using hammers int he last year given the price of gold. If they were actually in touch with the game they wouldn't even need to look in the database for this. It would be plainly evident. Then they could either make the box a more useful item in another way or stop offering it as a "reward" in FC. Or maybe lower the cost so people bought more hammers form them and they made some money.
So that is what I mean by out of touch.
Cheers0 -
Sorry another example that comes to mind is 40 Perfect Tokens of Best luck for the event helm. Seeing how 2 of them can get you a chest of coins worth 10 million that means the helm is worth 200 million, but there's not way it's worth even close to that. Something anyone would know if they paid attention or knew anything about the actual game play.0

I love my husband's Tiger mount. It's his pet name, and its perfect for him. The awesome roar it does is glory to boot!
I've seen the minor "glitch" you're talking about in which the Tiger sometimes appears to freeze it motion. This does not honestly bother me that much, because if you're moving about that doesn't occur. So yeah... its one of my favorite mounts!

So please, go on wild tangent, about this for yet another time. Each and every post shows your lack of knowledge on this issue and lack of comprehension in English. When fashion, localization, and other things are done to westernize an MMO (this is NOT new concerning F2Ps), it's clear there is a decent degree that the publisher (USA) is supposed to play.
Ok, understood... However this game hasn't been 'westernized'. Renaming items and places are done so we can freaking understand what these places are without reading Chinese, you freaking moron. Give some examples of content UNIQUE to PWI.Now, the iteration of western style culture is not only from ongoing content (hence why it's an MMO) but how they go about business concerning their publisher and the target demographic (hence why they create and name items specifically aimed at western culture).
And I understand what you're saying, but what is your point? Where are you taking this. This is what was iterated in the very first post, and this is what you have and guaranteed will overlook one more time. It's getting hilarious watching you skip right by it. But hey, would not have got the idea of wild tangent if it were not for the ones you go on. b:chuckle If you've got anything new to post here I'm more than willing to go on. However, I doubt it.
You do realize you're not actually making a point at all. Your first post that I responded to was just a idiotic rambling jumble of a post that had no real point. Maybe somewhere in your confused little mind you think you have one, but really you don't.
Why do I keep responding to you? Because it's funny as hell trying to see you communicate a message without a coherent point that you can't pin down.
Again, read your own babbling... you don't really say much of anything, and that's why I've been responding and laughing at you... lolJanusZeal - Heavens Tear wrote: »Your examples are correct, which is why I deleted them to avoid quoting extra stuff, however, as far as "out of touch" goes the explanation is simple -- F2P games tend to be lead by asian-based developers who know very little about western-style culture, which, using western-based publishers can only make up so much for -- this I know through experience. I'm under the impression this freezing doesn't appear on the screen of the rider - there's a lot of glitches like that in the game. For instance, teleporting from one city to another while flying: on your screen, you're still flying, but everybody else sees you as standing normally on the ground, with your aerogear frozen behind/underneath you. This is most prominent with the elves, who... generally look pretty cool standing there with their wings out.
You're right, I got one today and it looks just fine on my screen. Since the lobster mount is STILL glitched, I assume the devs aren't even going to fix this, ever? Oh well, I'll just look **** to others and cool to myself.0 -
