Anti-Aliasing

I found an old thread in this forum about getting Anti-aliasing to work with this game.

I have a graphics card that can run Half life 2, Mass effect 2, etc, with anti-aliasing of about 16x and not lag, so It can't be my card.

However, when I try and use the nvidia control panel, or nHancer to override the application settings, it just doesn't work. The people in the other thread have had success at getting it to work so it can't be the game itself.

I know it's not a problem or anything, and I can live without it, but if Anyone can offfer any insight I'd really like it.

It depends on each user's software and hardware configurations. It works on some, won't on others (and can cause some lag).

When my workstation had an nVidia 8600GT with 1.2GB of RAM, I could use many of the control panel's settings to make the game look SWEET.

Now that I'm using a Intel integrated video chipset on this other workstation, it isn't so wonderful anymore b:sad

Take some time and try using one setting at a time to get the best frame rate and performance that you are comfortable with.
Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

I think what was being said was that AA is not activating, not that it doesn't happen to run very well with it applied.

Alyssea: are you using game profiles, by any chance (I'm pretty sure this how nHancer is made to work)? If so, just do global settings that override that, and remove any PWI game profile(s). I have not had good luck w/ game profiles working in PWI. AA and AF will often end up disabled after alt-tabbing and changing settings, and w/ a game profile, about 50% of the time, it will be disabled from the start (I imagine the same thing goes on in both cases, under the hood, since a game profile has to be applied after the game starts). I'm running Win2k (temporarily!), and/but/yet I noticed that the behavior w/ game profiles not working is the same as it was in 7 RC (so, I don't think that problem is influenced much by which Windows OS it is).

Try having nHancer not running, set everything to defaults in the nVidia control panel, apply, then change them (untick the "application-controlled" box for every setting, and remove any PWI profile!), then apply, then run PWI, and see if that works.

<- has had AA forced on since his Geforce 2 GTS, and is never, ever, ever going to play a game with it off again--well, at least not until a ~20" display is tens of thousands of pixels wide, anyway.

ive found 4xAA to work as well as 16xAA so maybe try setting it to 4x

as you know in the nvidia control panel you want to set it to "override any application settings" not "enhance the application settings".

the main thing is tho in order for the AA settings to take effect you need to restart the game or set them then start the game, if you have the game running then try to change the settings it wont take effect; you need to restart.

you prob already know this but it should look like

    good luck

Yeah, AA only applies to polygonal graphics, and messes up 2d/bitmap like graphics.
