Are Assassins decent at PVP/PK?

i love the thrill of battling other players, and usually like assassins in mmorpgs.

the one problem is that in some games, melee classess simply cant kill other players, due to other players being able to flee easily.

do assassins have any type of stun, root or slow?
do they have any type of movement speed buff?
i heard their cloak is a bit busted at low lvls, thats no problem.

do you think theres a better class built for attacking other players and surviving from angry guilds that want to chase you for such attacking?

thanks :)

Pfft no assasins totally fail at pvp.

Sarcasm aside, they don't call us assasins for no reason. Sleeps, stuns, phys aoe, stealth mode, high crit rate, high evasion, high damage per second thanks to have the saceond fastest attack rate and high physical damage. (Granted it's a dex build)

All classes can pvp, in my opinion there's some better than others but people can argue otherwise.

Venomancers= debuffers, pet users. (More of a pvp support really)
Blademasters= Aoe stunners, high physical damage and survivability
Wizards= Suck at lower levels but pull off some high numbers at 90+. Low defense.
Archers= Suck at lower levels but pull off insane criticals at 90+. Think of assasin only ranged.
Barbarians= You need 3+ people to kill these and a veno to purge it of buffs prefferably.
Psychics= My knowledge of these isn't so great.

Assassins are amazing at pvp. Not only do we have high damaging skills and crits on our side, we have many moves to increase our survivability. One of these skills includes stealth... and stealth isn't just for being able to survive or sneak up on someone. It also gives you a mental advantage over someone. If you're attacking someone, and all of a sudden they disappear... you're going to panic. Stealth allows you to stay focused, while making others panic. Psychological warfare ftw b:victory

Oh and yes, we have skills to keep people from running. Stuns, immobilization, all that good stuff :)
I usually always get my kill. Even if I die trying, because the assassin bleed actually does a lot of damage and will wind up killing them if I die in the process xD
And if people are able to run after I've used all the skills that trap them, the bleed plus knife throw usually finishes them off.

fixed... Archers are the best at lower levels. Those crits hit hard and BMs and Barbs don't have acc rings/skills yet.
Navarre was your everyday veno, until she learned her true form. Now she's fox walloping and purging over and over again.. all for a deep stinging, head hunting, wind pushing Assassin. Will there be inner harmony and myriad rainbows? But of course! Yuri&Lemon Find it on Fanfiction XD "Discovering Sanctuary" Chapter 2 is up ^_^

Assassins will be great at PK, most likely in general PvP as well. Their specialty seems to be in high damage skills that cause conditions, and their ability to control the environment of the fight. They can become untargetable, instantly change to another player's position, and gain chi in many different ways. So they are melee, with an operating range as great as an archer. They can instantly close to classes that prefer to kite, and in chaotic battlefields they can close on their target when they are at their weakest. This is likely what they will be feared for on the battlefield, the chance someone can appear from nowhere with all non-passive protections down, and kill them without their target able to resist.

It will take time to see if effective counter-strategies will be made to hinder the advantages of the assassin class, but there is a reason they are listed as maxed stars for PvP rating :)

    You forgot Clerics-

Cleric= self healing, good buffs, extremely high magic attacks (and two magic-based physical attacks), sleep, stun, but low pdef unless using shards and Plume Shell, also low vit unless sharding or using a modified build.

That's an interesting point. But how long has that slot been there...? This is PWI we're talking about... doubt they're gonna do anything about it b:sweat

If they eventually decide to actually do something beneficial to the players for once, I wonder if that mysterious gear slot could be used to affect other things... like Rage Damage, etc.

Keep in mind though, that even if they decide to come out with things that increase awareness level, assassins will always have a +20 stealth level advantage over you (provided they did the smart thing and leveled cat-like tread).

    True

Then I'll have to fly around with finger over absolute domain in case of an ambush, then treat you like a fist bm w\o marrow.

Mysterious gear is cow shop...lol. Stealth doesn't worry me they have to come out of it to atk and once in combat they can't go back in. I imagine that they will be the same as ea's 90+ is downhill.

Well bms typically wear HA, while LA has better mdef... It may not be the same as marrow, but it's still something. I'll see how things turn out when I get high enough to take on wizards your level.

Edit: Also, forgot to mention that when it comes to pvp, assassins generally don't act like fist bms. They are about spike damage with skills rather than increasing attack rate and going to town.

They can go back into stealth while in combat actually. And I was thinking the same thing (the similarity to an archer's pvp ability) since LA generally has poor defense. But assassins have different skills than archers... such as the attack level increase, crit damage increase, etc.

Like I said, we'll see how things turn out when people who actually know what they're doing level their assassins to a high enough level to take on endgame wizards :)

    WELL MISTER

It's an empty gear slot most of the time, I'm perfectly aware you can equip a Cow shop there thanks. And I doubt they'll add awareness as a stat so yea, where else are you going to equip an awareness boosting item "...lol."
