Dispute

This is for the GM to answer. I will fill in the story before my question. I auto pathed to a quest I needed to do. I was killing the required wraiths for a few minutes when all of a sudden I was whispered by another player to leave (anonymous) alone, that I was KSing. However, I stayed on one side of this little island and never went after any wraiths this other player was going after. Which I believe means I was not KSing. What makes me unhappy is the player I supposedly was KSing from wasnt even the one to whisper me. She brought in another member of her faction who was no where near where we were. Anyways, this member who whispered me kept harassing me telling me to get a life and get away from her faction member, blah, blah , blah. I told her I was doing nothing wrong and to please leave me alone but she continued on. Anyways she kept telling me to go away and put space between my rock (pet) and her friend. What makes me laugh about this is that other player I was supposedly KSing is an archer, I am a veno and my pet is a magmite, so keep in mind my pet and my casts are slower than this archers shot. Anyways, my question is this, is there a rule to this game that says I can't do my quests if someone else is already there? Please let me know is I'm in the wrong and please explain what you consider KSing is. Thank you in advance. : )

KSing(kill stealing) is killing a mob after someone else already used atacked it and so stealing the kill

note:that this only is considered a ks when you are not in a party with them

as for the fact that you were harassed if you got screenshots you can send in a ticket and report that person
its impossible to always do the right thing we all make mistakes i am not different from that
just try to be a good person

I can answer this for you. No way is it against the rules to quest in or do anything within the general vicinity of other players.

As far as your question about what the definition of killstealing is in relation to how harassment might be dealt with in game, you could always submit a ticket for clarification. However, If you were just minding your own business and not purposefully trying to impede someones ability to play the game, then you were 100% in the right and in no way breaking any rules.

Gawd. I hate that. Some people believe that if they are there, the spawn is theirs, and people have pk'd me about that. Those people need to learn that this is a game for EVERYONE. If they are in your general area, they are not KSing until they hit your mob. QQ moar.

Thank you all for answering back. Yes, me not even being near the wraiths this player was killing was why it bothered me so much and the fact they brought a third party into this who was not even in the area we were in. I also did think KS was when I hit their target but they seemed to think me being in their area around the wraiths was also KS, lol. Anyways, didnt think about filling out a ticket but thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I don't have to do that in the future.

To tell you the truth pwi is not that bad when it comes to those things. Some other games that I used to play/playing it is really bad there. Regarding pwi, I have met a few people that think that you are harassing them just by either questing near them, or giving them a suggestion, and then they send their whole guild after you and you have spend half an hour explaining that you meant no harm and then apologizing to the person that you meant no harm.

An incident happened to me a few month ago. I was questing near swiftwind and see a veno which was killing the same thing, only using a bee while flying killing a land creep. Dont know what lvl that veno was, but by the time I killed 6 creeps, that veno killed 1, so I suggested to attack from ground at least, and if she had a land pet, to use it for faster killing. She though I was making fun of her, and called her friend which started questioning me, why, how come, whats my problem, yadi, yadi, yadi....... After about 30 min of talk and then apology I got him off my back.

People take things too seriously in this game. Since the time that I got into trouble just for suggesting something, I stopped doing it. Better to not get involved, than getting into trouble.

At other time, while I was grinding for hay, someone came in and told me to get away from there , since they are grinding hay there too. I said that the area is not theirs to own. Few min later someone came and pk'd me.

You are completely in the right and ran across a selfish player, plain and simple. And whoever has enough free time to argue in favor of that player is either desperate to keep faction members or is just as dumb/ignorant. It's likely a fair amount of embelishment was used to draw the fac member into it, come to think of it.

I still remember an argument w/ a player who accused me of ksing because I didn't make sure she hadn't already sicked her magmite on a mob. The worst was that I somehow ksed because she was busy pulling a mob to go for the main target. How do I know what mobs another player is after? The argument went on for a while and I eventually just had to walk away to preserve my sanity. I'm supposed to watch the pet for her o.O?

When people start accusing me of KSing them when I am not. I tell them I am not, but if they want me too, I will be happy to start. Usually showing them what KSing REALLY is ends the discussion and issue quickly enough.

    HOWEVER

If they still don't understand it and still try to claim my regular grinding is somehow KSing them because we are in the same area, I call a few friends over to the area and we squad up and kill everything that spawns. Completing my quest easier and faster and allowing me to leave the area sooner so I don't have to continue dealing with someone that is so stupid they shouldn't even be able to breathe.

I try never to hit a mob someone else is busy on. It can happen that we hit it at the same time, and i let them have the kill and turn to another mob.

If, however, they start and keep complaining cause i'm close to them, i just tell em to sod off. Usually they do.

That's why i'm happy i'm not on a pvp server. Out of experience people on a pvp server tend to get more "aggressive". It's probably about hormones kickin in, but i'd rather avoid it if possible.

On dreamweaver so far i've never had that problem. I either party with them or give em a friendly buff, and usually people leave me alone or say thx.

On the odd occasion they say something (negative), i avoid conversation if possible. Less hassle, less to worry about.

    Related to this topic:

Lets say you have pulled aggro from large amount of mobs on you on purpose, and someone takes aggro away from some mobs, does that count as Ks b:scorn

There is not a rule regarding mob ownership. Even when a player is already attacking a mob -at which point the "stealing" part would not matter- claims of ownership are completely baseless. This especially applies if you are doing a quest, another player cannot completely prevent you from killing mobs to complete it because they are at the spawn before you. The only exception to this would be if you were actively harassing a player and preventing them from progressing normally through the game.

Now on the other hand, common courtesy goes a long way, so if you see someone else grinding the same mobs there's nothing wrong with giving them a little space, but one cannot "steal" monsters unless an owner is established, in which case our company "owns" them, and we'd like it if everyone shared b:chuckle
