Is this a glitch/bug?

I have 4 pets in my bag for a new veno I'm starting out. Golem, Tabby, Frog and Petite Sawfly. I had the Golem, Tabby and Sawfly as soon as I could use them per their level requirements and have been leveling. Since this is a new alt it's only level 25 (embarrassed). In any event those 3 pets are all level 24. The frog I got at Auction and it had a starting level of 22 (not the usual 9 so someone leveled it first). I hatched the bad boy and started using him on level 24 mobs to get him up to level. On first kill he levels so he must have had some exp as well and was just about to level. Sweet I thought. I then noticed though that the exp bar was not moving at all. I checked after each kill and I'm only getting 1 exp point per kill with it while all 3 of my other pets are getting 10 points per kill. It's not like the level difference of the pet or myself is that great so there shouldn't be an exp reduction. I've re-logged and it didn't fix the issue. There's no way I can level this thing if it only gets 1 exp per kill.

Since the other pets are about the same level and getting the normal exp per kill I figure it must be a glitch. Anyone ever see this before? I figured I'd ask here before bothering the GMs with a ticket to see if it was common problem with an easy solution.

Thanks

Feed the pet. You want its loyalty to be at 500 or above at all times its attack power and exp gain goes up.

Does your pet have more than 500 loyalty? If not, buy some water/oil to get it above 500.

    500+ Loyalty = 15 xp per kill
    below 500 = 10 xp per kill
and i think below 50 loyalty it gets 1 xp per kill.

Also, when you buy someone's pet and hatch it, it will have 0 loyalty to you. 0 loyalty = 0 xp per kill.

That could be it. I knew that loyalty effected exp, but I wasn't aware that below 50 it's only 1 exp per kill. (I knew about the 10 vs 15 at 500 loyalty). I also knew the loyalty started at zero when you buy a pet, but guess I never noticed it as an issue before. I mean when I hatch a tamed egg doesn't it also start at zero? How come I never noticed this before? Or maybe the key word is "noticed" here lol. Maybe I just never payed that close attention and somehow I got all my tamed pets to 50 before even looking.

If 50 is the cut off to receive exp then that is likely the issue. Thanks

150-499 (Tame) is 10 XP per kill

Savage and Wild are both less than 10 XP per kill. Not sure where the break between the two is (probably 50), but Wild becomes Tame at ~150 loyalty.

    As for peteggs.

If you hatch a petegg that has never been hatched before it will start at ~148 loyalty (wild), and feeding it once will take it to tame.

If you hatch a petegg that has been reverted to a petegg, it's loyalty will be 0, or Savage, and I suggest feeding it pure water before anything that increases loyalty more than that because I believe they start at Peckish and will only gain a % of the loyalty normally gained from feeding them.

That makes 100% sense. Thanks for the detailed explanation.
