You buy pet battle packs from the cash shop. Right-click the pack and you get from 10-50 source or feathers. On average it'll take 373 packs, at a cost of $186.50.
The easy way to get this is to get a job in RL. Minimum wage is $6.55/hr. Figure about $5/hr after taxes. Working 8 hours a day minimum wage, you should have enough money for a herc after less than a week (5 workdays).
The hard way is to save up coin in-game, convert it into gold via the Auctioneer, and buy the packs. Most people seem to be able to grind between 100k-150k/hr. At current exchange rates, this works out to about $0.70/hr to $1.50/hr. Grinding 8 hours a day, it would take you 16-33 days to save up enough coin.
For some reason, most people do it the hard way. (I set up a cat shop to make money for me when I'm not playing.)0 -
I buy gold, then battlepacks, then sell off the feathers for 2.5-2.7k each. It takes longer, but there is a steady stream of profit in it. Without spending any RL money on it, I would estimate it will take you until the 60's at the earliest to afford on, more likely the 70's, depending on how much you spend on gear.0

cool !
Btw, what is the minimum required level to buy a Hercule pet? Thnx. b:pleased0 -
There is no minimum level to buy the pet.
You need to have the 'tame pet' skill at least to be able to use it though, so level 3. (There's also a tiny reputation requirement)
Answered this so many times... this is the second time today.
You need 9999 SoF.
Each battle pack costs 50 silver, and gives an average of 26 SoF (or feathers, but you can swap feathers for SoF)
So you need an average of 385 packs. (You might get lucky, you might get unlucky, but that's an average)
That's 192 gold (you said minimum, so I'll round down)
Gold is 500k. So that's 96 million coins.
If you're willing to wait longer, you can get 20% off by waiting for a pet pack sale. (154 gold, 77million) and by browsing around cat shops looking for cheap SoF. (Like the guy up-thread who was selling them - at a profit - for 2.8k back in the day!)
And then you need to hatch it (50k) and feed it meat (lots, or buy a tome, lots more...)
Edit:
In case you'd not noticed - the date on the guy posting saying he was selling for under 3k each? That was back before gold cost 500k a time. Do the calculations with gold costing 100-130k to see where that number came from.0 -
Thank you very much for the detailed answer!0

7k in Dreamweaver now.
Oh and, hello necro. There once a time when I cared about getting to the top quickly as possible to help others. Now, I take it slow, and don't worry about having nothing to do. There's always something to do in an MMORPG, especially if you are high level. PK'ing is for those who desire to inflate their egos. True friendship comes from helping one-another, rather than to start rivalries.
It takes 315300 Mysterious Chips to make one warsoul weapon, if you have a 100% success rate.0 -

something you obviously don't have.____________
I have as much authority as the Pope, I just don't have as many people who believe it.

If people are so bothered by necroing (nvm the fact that it is against the rules of the forums), then why do they contribute to the necro by commenting further?Demon_Troll: "takes on the appearance of an innocent archer but turns into a mindless idiot once you hear him speak"

Because they know that the necro gets locked and sent to Dante's Hell, so they flash step right in and get an easy post before the thing burns to ashes. b:cuteIf you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.
Everyone wants to be different, but when you're different you wish you were normal.0 -
