You already did it by choosing to not open a PvE server to begin with. Are you not even aware that a good portion of your PvE players did not even bothered to play in clopsed beta to begin with?

If you want to be fair with this event with PvE players, turn off PvP on both servers for the remaining days of closed beta. Or reduce the level requirement to 30. You know very well that gankers will now have a lot of fun killing everyone around to prevent them from reaching level 40.

Karm, you didnt get one thing, the true is that, they count on pk to reduce the number of winers(business is business). They say that they care about players feelings, but really i wonder...
And xarfox said it by himself:

There is no limit regarding the number of people who can attain the prize. We could have announced this contest at the beginning of Closed Beta, but if we did we would of have had to set the bar much higher than level 40.

I agree on something you say, others I dont.
The Mod thing is random that doesnt matter, I mean in 2moons they had VGM = Volunteer Game Master or something like that, just imagine some GM/Admin with nothing to do with the company running around ingame banning everyone.

And well the name and stuff, like venomancer/barbarian should be changed.

The PvE server was a big turn off to all those who wanted to play there (I didnt but for those who did)

Oh well anyways, when GM's make stuff like change name or deicide not to add a PvE server, should consult with the community firts.

    OMG another "echoer"

GM didnt "change name" or whatever, the name never even existed because the game didn't exist, this is INTERNATIONAL!
    Consulting the community? LOL!!
Does a surgeon consult the patient on what equip they have available for surgery? does a pharmacist consult a patient on what would be a toxic dosing?

We can not make any decision on servers, we dont' even know what hardware they have. They can not consult the community because the characteristic of the "representable" community does not even exist yet, nor can it exist before the game is released! Believe me they really want to know about the community (from a marketing point of view), but the fact is they are as scared as us!!

I agree on a lot of issues where Perfect World International could have handled their release better. On the other hand, I am really happy with all these events that they are releasing halfway through closed beta. What it shows to me, is that they are really dedicated to try and make the game work. The events are meant to reward, as they could just have easily given no events. It a glass half full/empty perspective. I had stopped leveling really too, and was wandering the map and helping people in game, so I won't be anywhere close to lvl 40. I can see where others would have done the same, and feel that it's not fair.

I am really unhappy of there not having been a PVE server for closed beta when there was an implication that there would be one. While there are testing purposes for having 2 PVP servers, statistics were not capable of being taken to predict the server load would be like on the PVE server, and assumptions would have to be made from the PVP server data. If you view World of Warcraft data, a higher percentage of players play on the PVE realms, contrary to what some may think of the United States.
    http://www.warcraftrealms.com/realmstats.php?sort=ServerType
(Edited: 2,382,108 PVE players to 1,651,982 PVP players, or 59.05% to 40.95% respectively, which means for every 7 PVP players, there are 10 PVE players on World of Warcraft.)
(Generalization: PVP players seem to be a lot more vocal on the forums, which may be for the obvious fact that a PVE type player may see that type of confrontation as needless in the first place, and will get disgusted and move on to something else.)

In a closed beta with private paid testers, those paid testers would have no final say and would only be able to suggest. This is an open closed beta and we're not employees, but future customers, and so in a way, we should be treated like customers. It's a really difficult balance for the administrators, because they have an NDA, and we have a need to know as beta testers, except that we're outside the NDA, and completely not privy to decisions until they're ready for public release. Perhaps, the game could have used another beta cycle with few testers with a signed NDA, but I can see that time was definitely a constraint.

The only issue I have to disagree on, is translation. I may have spoken my shock at seeing the strange unfamiliar translations a little on the forum, but except for the mistranslation and inconsistencies (like where the map calls a place one thing and a quest another, which would be totally confusing to a new player, or the guild hierarchy naming convention, which is like a mishmash that did not exist in the Chinese version), Perfect World reserves the right to whatever naming conventions they choose. They should correct the mistranslated ones, and hopefully follow through on our suggestions that make sense to them.

One example where they should keep the name, is "Archosaur." "Archosaur" seems to be the original name intended for "祖龙城" zu long cheng or what many of us know as ADC, but in Chinese. What some may not know is the original Perfect World Co. Ltd was called "祖龙" and the founders chosen English name for the company was "Archosaur". "Archosaur" is like a tribute to the original smaller company that had an idea for one big, big game.

I posted a screenshot of the original company logo on the screenshot forums, also with additional explanation.
    http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=30931
So, if the developers already had a different name in mind for ADC, then the same could be said for the others. The final point is that they are not the same company as the other that used ADC. (I feel so weird talking about this, because to a new person playing Perfect World, Archosaur would be Archosaur and not anything else.)

No problem. Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

Yes. It does make it interesting. I'm still not exactly thrilled, and think it's a funny name, but there's lots of people with funny names out there (and my Chinese name is weird to people who don't know Chinese), and if they can live with it so can we. :p (Wah, I want to change my name T_T , j/k)

People seem to forget this is supposed to be a CHALLENGE! Its not made so that everyone gets it, or they might as well just hand it for free dont you think? Its supposed to be hard (well, for people with not so much time)

My bm is already 35 so I got lucky there :P but on random pking etc, thats not true at all... I havent been pked once yet, and yesterday I was even doing the pterodactyl quest on tears of heaven, with some RQ guys standing on mirror lake... Thats known as the most popular PK spot, yet no one came after me, so that says alot

I think most just dont care, theyre more like "bring on the open beta", so if you truly want to get 40, go and get it, no one will stop you, I know I will

*Now you tell us there is a prize for getting level 40 in closed beta. Don't you think it would have been better to tell us that before closed beta began? People didn't even bother with the closed beta because you offered no reward. Now, to get this reward we have to level to 40 on a pvp server with people already close to 40 that will just grief anyone trying to get the zen prize.

*There were four servers that were announced. The only two you bring up for closed beta are pvp servers with half of the community wanting a pve server. Then you announce that only two servers will be up at the start of closed beta.

*This horrible website. This isn't just me I've asked other people; the site is having problems with loading. Avatars aren't functional, images can't be displayed, you had the newbie section labeled n00b discussion, guild section isn't split between servers or pve/pvp.

I got sucked into the hype, but I believe thats all this ever was. You show a lack of professionalism, you show lack of talent, you show favoritism, and you show a general ignorance of knowing what you are doing. As it stands, I'm just waiting on the open beta cash shop to be released so I can laugh at it and uninstall this game.

To respond to this in a logical standpoint.

    Closed Beta,

You claim that the reason you didn't try to get into the Closed beta was cuz there was no reward for it. My responce, It's to test the system and programs that go with it. To play the game is it's own reward. Not only because you could possbily find a bug that wasn't caught but to test on the possibility of new features. You are lucky they would let people come in for closed beta they could of just said wait for open beta to play but they didn't.

I think that the award to level up was something they wanted to do for the people that are dedicated to helping out the dev's and programers just to say thank you.

    Limited servers

The reason for this is mainly to see how many people can the server hold with out crashing. That's why they only have the two servers. Another reason maybe that there's not enough testers to allow more that. They can't test the stability if there's barely anyone on the server.

    Website.

You do realize that the website is always a work in progress, not everything will work right away. As they put the html or php into the site it will update. Programaming takes a while to do. Perhaps they are trying to save some space for more details on the games.

*The ridiculous names of classes, factions, guild titles, cities, etc. I can understand the desire to have your own names, but something a little less hideous than archosaur and squad would have been nice.

*There were four servers that were announced. The only two you bring up for closed beta are pvp servers with half of the community wanting a pve server. Then you announce that only two servers will be up at the start of closed beta.

*Administrator approved moderators. This is a bad decision. Not only does it show you don't want to pay someone for a job and expect free labor, it also shows favoritism. I don't doubt you will show favoritism in game, either. This has been done before, and it doesn't work.

*The restriction of acceptable modified characters. Seriously, what is wrong with fat pandas? Is fat panda hurting you or does fat panda have any kind of in game advantage? Pw-my has even stated they allow fat characters. You do realize some people are actually fat, or some women are flat chested? This is nothing more than discrimination on looks.

*Administrators and moderators treating the community like kids. I'm 30 years old, and I know plenty of adults that play this game. Being a little more professional would be nice, besides making me feel like I'm in some video arcade at the mall.

I got sucked into the hype, but I believe thats all this ever was. I really don't see anything wrong about calling parties in this game "Squad", it actually sounds cooler, who are you to say what they can or cannot name parties in this game man?

But I have to agree on some of the things you said....like favoritism, I see that in a lot of games, well I wouldn't call it favoritism actually, I don't know what to call it, just seems like they pick people who help out, when there's alot of people that help out actually, and then those people who can be an admin/mod or whatever on the fourms, have too much authority like you said, and if they dont like what you type, you know what happens? your thread gets closed, plain and simple, it's actually ridiculous, they have too much power in my opionon.

I didn't read all four pages but IMO this was a great decision. Players that didn't even try in Closed Beta should'nt even been rewarded. If they say "**** it" then they deserve not to get Zen to be honest. It was a good choice to announcing it at this time.

What I don't get is the tone in which the OP wrote. Did you just get off the freeway after enduring bumper to bumper traffic for 8 hours? Missed an anger management session?

Most ppl, especially the admins took extra care to post sensible responses that wasnt written to sound like a angry little kid about to burn some ants. Sure the game has some issues like the trnalations and the guild structure names etc etc. But jeez man its not really the end of the world and asking nicely would really get you a lot further.

Ah lastly the "moderators" don't have ANY power whatsoever in the game so what the heck is the fuss about?! The forums mean nothing and almost 99% of it gets ignored/flamed/trolled/etc. If you really feel soemthing was done wrong then why don't you just pm the admis? afraid the mods will **** the admin's mailbox and delete ur complaint?

Aaand very lastly there is NOTHING wrong with the word noob. I thought it was funny that there was a noob section.

I am not worried about 10 gold, it isn't about the prize, it is the principle of the fact that this was not announced to us. It is the consistent poor communication and decision making of this company. Sorry, you already rubbed us the wrong way with no pve server on closed beta, this is just salt in the wounds. How about this..announce before closed beta there will be a prize, and have a pve and a pvp server...win/win..is that too difficult?

If it isn't broke, don't fix it. The english translation was pretty good, but the names for stuff like I mentioned should have been left alone. Venomancer, Barbarian, Executor, Archosaur, Squad, Faction, etc. the list goes on.

You also said there will be four servers. My point was if there was any method to this madness, or did you go to the break room and flip a quarter twice to determine what servers you are using every phase.

Starting a game with an incomplete website seems rather unprofessional to me.

Removing, deleting, and locking peoples threads or posts is no perk? I'm sure they can get inside information as well, probably. When people come to the forums and wish for an administrator, they do not want to deal with a user moderator that has no responsibility to the company, that blocks users from attempting to speak with an administrator. These people I encountered in another game were also given in-game items. I'm not saying it's happened here or will, but it's happened in the past and I didn't like it. People do not want to see favoritism in any way, it makes them lose faith in a company's ability to run a fair and clean game. You need a moderator, go hire one.

Opening an .ini file and typing in 255 is not botting or hacking. If you are very serious about botting and hacking, then stop worrying about some fat panda and go tackle botters and hackers, which last thread I read on botters you let them continue to operate in the game. A fat panda gets banned, yet you sit back and watch bots and do not ban them...for what exactly?

Apparently, you don't understand these players are level 95-100 and some of the top players in the game. This doesn't require a fine comb, when these players have been in game since day 1 and are very active.

    Translation:
You can please some of the people some of the time.
You can not please everyone all of the time.
Some people you can never please at any time.

It is a game. The way some people are acting you would think the Devs had curly mustaches and capes stealing first borns. Thanks for reaffirming that game boards are 95% whining and 4% valid complaints. Unfortunately, there never seems to be more then 1% useful information on them.

The customization limits already exist in the other versions. The fat and horribly skinny characters and such are from people hacking the .ini file. PW-MY has the same rule about that but Cubizone jsut doesnt bother with dealing with it. I personally like that PW-IN intends to actually enforce their policies.
