It's very hard for me to choose one. I listen to and enjoy all sorts of music.

Currently listening to.
Dabin & Koda - The Takedown (electronic/trance/dub)
Duncan Sheik - Barely Breathing (90s alternative)
Epik High - Fallin (korean rap/hiphop)
Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe (60s rock)
Tristam - Truth (Dabin Remix) (electronic/trance/dub)

If I were to vote Id had to choose; rap (actual rap, 90s rap, not this modern commercialized club stuff), electronic/trance, classical, and 60s/70s rock as my favorites.

Fox Stevenson - Sandblast
Oh Wonder - Without You

I like mostly acoustic mellow music, but lean heavily towards alternative and folk.

Most of the artists I like best don't even fit into a single genre. Strumslinger should check out Patrick Wolf.

I listen to all music which is singing or has no vocals.

This means no screaming (some people call that metal for some unknown reason). No fast talking (rap). No Country just because I find it boring even though I will count it as music unlike the first two.

This means there's no limit on Time Period. Chopin is awesome.
I will listen to Frank Sinatra and yes I am indeed an Yankee Fan.
I will listen to the newer stuff such as Muse.
Here's my phone's ring tone.
There's nothing wrong with German music.
I'm also one of those weird people who like the music intro's to anime shows.
The sountracks can be pretty beyond sad or inspiring.

And I have a thing for organs.

But still, after many years, Floyd is my favorite band.

...And my friend of many years says I am picky. I think that's a pretty darn wide variety with no favorite genre to be found. :)

Minor off topic reference, seeing the My Way commercial in person on the big screen on Yankee Stadium on Jeter's last day playing in Yankee Stadium was one of the most electrifying moments I have ever experienced. Everybody should experienced how thousands of people hearing the same music with feeling the same emotion plays on the soul at least once in their life.

I don't really adhere to a specific genre. I'm keen to listening to anything that has a nice rhythm to it.

If I did have to choose i'd say classical. I have a speaker system going through my home and back patio and I almost always have piano or violin playing on it at a low volume while relaxing over a cocktail or cooking a nice meal.

It most definitely has saved me from more than a few grueling days at work.

You may want to add a wider range of choices. There are very few genre that I will not listen to: Country(that new HAMSTER, not the old stuff like Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline and Carl Perkins), anything remotely Top 40 and Rap(the newer HAMSTER is not the same thing as Hip Hop).

I cut my teeth on AM radio and early FM fair... 70's rock. Discovered punk rock in the early 80's. Spent the 90's living in Chicago, grunge and bebop were my lullabies. After my divorce, in 2007, I rediscovered metal... which covers all genre of metal. In my mind... if it is created after 2000... it is most likely HAMSTER.

Interesting do this thread still active or dead? :)

Anyways, when come stuff as music, it's hard to say which genre I like. I usually tell peoples that I listen music not genre. So I don't care is it from opera, metal, or EDM or whatever.

But one thing is clear, that I like energetic music. So from EDM usually I prefer So called trance Hands up. And totaly don't like house, too slow and make me sleepy.

Also I like rock/metal like nightwish, Epica, WhithinTemptation..

Also Songs from opera, like singer Sarah Brightman,
And also I music from movies/games. So Two Steps from hell, Audiomashine, x-ray dog, epica or other studios are also in my playlist.

My favorire genre is the one who brings a lot of power. Euro trance (now known as Techno hands up) or game background music, or symphonic metal as Nightwish, withing temptation does.
But Sometimes its good to lay in bed and listen something new. :)

Try Virtual Diva. Hatsune Miku.
