I wasn't trying to offend you or anything, but I indeed, have been stating simple facts: Being the old, number-chrunching DM that I am, I took a good, long look at the systems at work behind the scenes of that game last weekend, and what I found was rather disheartening. Attributes and feats only have a very slight impact…
Exactly... almost all real control spells in 4E do damage and have very short lived control effects (sleep, daze, confusion)... the only difference being that most of them effect a group of targets... that's what a control wizard does: He controls groups. Besides, there are no "minute long sleeping" spells in 4E, they all…
That's your opinion... Given, there have been many games over the years that ran under the D&D label and not really used the actual rule set... BUT, all those games at least tried to adopt the rules in a meaningful way, when they did adopt them at all... What ticks me of a little is this: Cryptic took a basic, run down the…
While I never really cared much for the 4E rules, I can only say... THIS! Seriously, there are already more then enough PvP centered games out there, and the D&D theme is neither befitting one, nor are it's rules useable for such a game.
Sorry, but the game will never follow anything resembling the d20 system... if anything, it's a lose adaptation of the 4E rules... and even though these also use a d20 as core die, they are nothing like that actual d20 system. ...if you want d20, then you'll have to a) play DDO or b) wait for Pathfinder Online.
Even if they are making an action MMO, it still is a D&D flavored one... that's what it's advertised as... why departing so much from a perfectly usable toolset (the 4E rules)? I think nobody is asking them to use the whole rules, that wouldn't be practical for a MMO... especially an action oriented one... but deliberately…
1) New Spells in addition to what we've got (see below) 2) New/fixed animations, especially for idle stance and casting 3) Casting At-Will spells on the move 4) More implements (wands, staffs) 5) More/better robes... New/much needed spells: At-Will: Cloud of Daggers, Thunder Wave Encounter: Color Spray, Mesmeric Hold,…
The Control Wizard in the 4E rules uses a combination of arcane, air and ice spells (Stinking Cloud, Thunderwave, Icy Terrain), so I think the fire spells will come with the War Wizard... in combination with the wand implement.
