  • @adinosii As a complementary pre-cursor build to my hybrid archery build, I just published a pure archery build today. This is actually a second edition, but wanted to work out the kinks a bit more before posting. My co-author and I decided today to share it. It is mainly for early to midgame level-70 HRs.…
  • A few words on Combatant's Maneuver... As of Mod 15, this mount insignia power no longer procs on bosses via Disruptive Shot. The only HR power that remains which seems capable of reliably procing this power against bosses is Cordon of Arrows. Combat HRs seem resigned to removing Combatant's Maneuver because Cordon is a…
  • Been a while since I shared a video. Here is a hybrid archery run thru Fane of the Night Serpent, from earlier this week. People know archery has powerful ranged attacks, like Aimed Shot, but here I show the AoEs are quite potent too. Archers are also sometimes thought of as fairly squishy, but this is a smooth run. I do…
  • Problem resolved. I'm not sure what the issue was exactly, except to say yesterday evening when I took a look to see if anything had changed, I noticed I was able to move forward on the workshop quests, including ranking up the Workshop.
  • I was thinking, other potential options for Buff HRs could include: Stormwarden Combat HRs can slot in LSS + Hawkeye + PG and run Aspect of the Pack and Stormstep Action with Forest Ghost. This might not have the advantage of Primal Instincts and you might have to run thru more of rotation (i.e. GW), but the upside would…
  • @"ashbury#6333" A few things to keep in mind... It's going to be easier to achieve 100% uptime when you are in a party, due to how the tank and DC can help your cooldowns. When practicing at the dummies, mostly you want to focus on becoming more fluid with the rotations. By yourself at the dummies, you may or may not be…
  • I have updated my archery build with a significant change. As of Mod 15, HRs appear to no longer have the means to proc Combatant's Maneuver on bosses. So I have removed this mount insignia power from the build. Instead, for the time being, I'm recommending Artificer's Influence (2 insignia power) to complement Artificer's…
  • @wdj40 It has been discussed extensively in the HR discussion groups on Facebook and Discord. As I said, it might have been console only. There were a number of other console specific bugs recently. Anyway, it really was broken and this is honestly not up for debate. Quite a few HRs were discussing it and I assure you it…
  • It is actually a topic of wide spread discussion across multiple HR forums. I am hardly the first person to talk about it. It's possible it is only specific to the console release of Mod 15. It's also possible it was ninja fixed with the patch. The patch notes do not mention a fix, but wouldn't be the first time a fix was…
  • BTW, it seems Aspect of the Pack is broken in Mod 15. The passive is now no longer providing Combat Advantage. DPS roles should still run Aspect of the Pack with the Offhand Artifact Power because it still provides a consistent up to +8% damage bonus. But for a Buff HR, CA would be the reason to use the passive and, since…
  • @wdj40 It's not the greatest video I know. I think the player was just trying out the build and perhaps had not fully mastered the rotation. It does take some practice. But that group was impressed with the performance, none the less. Ultimately, regardless of how a buff HR does it, I think Buff HRs are the real deal. And…
  • I'm still going to record something, but just saw this today. It is a recording posted Jan. 22nd showing a hybrid buff HR in an Orcus 1-phase run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H9RT_eBL54
  • @wdj40 I was planning to make a video, but had been so far getting feedback and making refinements first before taking that next step. I should be able to do a basic concept demo at the dummies though. I'll follow-up on that. But I do want to show this in a dungeon run as well. One of the challenges is perfecting the…
  • In general, one thing I do frequently mention is that all HRs can buff. We all have access to the same powers and I think Trappers in particular are well suited to the task as a buffer. In fact with high enough recovery, Trappers can maintain constant buffs. But where these hybrid builds shine is that lower item level HRs…
  • This is really a great discussion. WDJ40 brings up a common question. He is not the first to ask "why not a Trapper," so it is a very good question that he has asked. I recall him raising some good points in the past with my other builds that lead me to make updates based on his input. So it is all good! :)
  • @wdj40 LSS has a duration of 4 seconds and the video looks to me like your rotating thru at about 6 to 8 seconds. That is good. But there is a gap. Here is what I was seeing you do in terms of rotation speed in that video:* 7 seconds * 7 seconds * 8 seconds * 7 seconds * 6 seconds * 7 seconds * 8 seconds * 7 seconds * 8…
  • @wdj40 The rotation you describe is not something I would personally recommend for a buffer because you cannot maintain 100% uptime of LSS doing that. Hawk Shot in particular is a slow power and won't make much difference and Rapid Strike twice into the air is just lost time. If you were to actually run the recommended…
  • I agree with you. This type of build is super simple and works with minimal gear. You almost have to restrain oneself about the gear. I make suggestions, but to use your analogy about icing on the cake, all those little suggestions are like colorful sprinkles on top of the icing on top of cake. The underlying build is…
  • I updated my version of the build just this weekend, in part because console is now at Mod 15. No fundamental changes to the feats or other core aspects, but I did add some clarifications and options here and there, some of which were influenced by Jonkoca. There are a number of additional companion options listed,…
  • @hastur905 shares his Mod 15 archery-combat hybrid build in a new video. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8IBEjTvJ1Q
  • @xmarik69x Hopefully I didn't discourage you or anything from that last comment. Anyway, here is something you might find helpful. Since there are not just a lot of pure PVE archery builds out there, I decided to write up a pure archery build. It is up to date with mod 15 and it's a complete build with all the things…
  • For ease of reference, I'm just adding a comment here with all the HR changes from Mod 15. Hunter Ranger Changes The Stormwarden and Pathfinder Paragon Paths have been differentiated a bit more; Pathfinder should now be more effective in a party support role, while Stormwarden is more solidly in a damage-dealing role. The…
  • I do agree that the Archery path needs additional work. One simple change might be: Stillness of the Forest should be adjusted to greatly increase the damage by standing still. While the current damage of this feat is similar to damage stacks of the other two HR paths, neither of those paths have a penalty in which they…
  • Beyond single target, Archery does also have powerful AoE damage for mobs. Rain of Arrows and Cordon of Areas are two examples and are among an archer's most powerful attacks. This particular build maximizes that damage potential as well, to where an archer can solo even the Chult and Ravenloft campaign areas with ease.…
  • FYI to the Archers, I just updated my hybrid archery build to Mod 15. Not a lot of changes really. Mostly I simply added the new boons, adjusted the introduction section, and made a few other small changes. http://bit.ly/Yarrows-Hybrid-Archery-Build
  • This really is a great opportunity for any NW Xbox players, regardless of being in Poison Clan, some another alliance, or in no guild at all, to be able to get runs in these endgame dungeons. :)
  • @xmarik69x Having a melee loadout is great. So then my feedback above still would apply for the feats you listed in terms of solo range playing. You can just ignore the parts that mention what-ifs about being in a party. And the feats from Bloodtalen's build would be good too for a pure archer. When loadouts were…
  • @artifleur I do understand damage buffs being multiplicative is not new information, however given the rather extensive changes to HR feats and powers, as well as the complaints about bugs during preview, it just seemed prudent to perform the testing and validate these basic assumptions, especially since the build is…
  • @xmarik69x Since you appear to want to play ranged only and solo only, I will recommend the following: First, since you do not seem to like melee, then if you really want to fight from range only, you will need to have a defender companion that will be able to hold aggro like a tank while you fire from a stand off…
