Times have changed and the pool of MMO players has vastly increased since back then. As many others have stated, there were fewer options for players then, purchase price for game and ongoing subscription cost so we tended to stick with one game longer. Another important factor to consider was in games like EQ people were…
I like the game, but it needs improvement and I will continue giving feedback. While some people might go about in a less than tactful manner, they are generally only posting because they care and want to see this game improve, for everyone's benefit. Don't be so quick to label them all "whiners".
I've seen on other gaming forums moderators or admins help bring things like this to the attention of the appropriate party and get it resolved. Hopefully someone can help you OP, I'm sure that's very frustrating. :(
They fixed the memory leak that was causing massive lag with the most recent patch, no more lagging here either although I do still get the occasional rubber banding, something they need to continue improving.
Indeed, the foundry is really the key to this game. It needs work, and it also needs to be made rewarding. The seal system I suggested earlier would work well with this and a robust and rewarding foundry would help solve one of themepark type MMOs biggest issues: developers not being able to make content as fast as players…
The problem is people need a way to make AD. Farming gear to sell on AH is what is keeping many people here. There needs to be a viable way to obtain AD if they want to change this, just look at the cost of most things in-game, let alone the zen store.
IMO the first step is to take a look at AD costs of everything in the game and make adjustments (mostly downwards, some need massive drops to even be remotely an attractive or realistic option). Then you could always implement a token system for end game gear, the foundation is there with seals already, just expand it.…
Here is where the problem really lies, they set the game up to work as it was (is until the patch hits) and with the changes are essentially trying to jam a square peg into a round hole. Had they designed the game to work around bop from the start it wouldn't be a problem. The way it's designed players need boatloads of AD…
I much prefer subscription as I get everything the game has to offer with an upfront cost and no nickle and dime nonsense. 2nd preference would be b2p with a reasonable cash shop that only sells cosmetics or fluff.
Easy enough to work around if they implemented a seal system with loot rewards for the foundry, and put a cap on how many seals you can obtain daily/weekly. Edit: threads like this, which are feedback threads can help devs understand why some people find the game lacking and improve it for everyone's benefit. They are…
It's a pretty huge assumption that those who don't visit forums feel one way or another on any given topic. Look at the last several years and releases of AAA MMOs, history has shown that forum "whiners" (such a nice term to try and belittle or diminish opinions one doesn't agree with) aren't such a minority after all.…
I wonder how people for this change would feel if they did a wipe to put everyone on equal footing (more or less, founders would still have an advantage but they paid for it so that's as it should be). It's never a good idea to completely change the way your game works after people have become used to the way things work,…
6 Pros: Fun, fast paced combat Fun leveling Beautiful (instanced) world Someone finally made a tank class that I enjoy :) Crafting offline (gateway) Foundry, although limited ATM has great potential Cons: Cash shop prices, even post reductions MMO staples such as re-specs being in the cash shop Bland, unimaginative boss…
^This. Also, those with the big money needed to back a AAA MMO would have to be willing to take risks on unproven designs. You can have the most brilliant designers in the world, but if their creativity is stifled by the money men, we will just keep getting more of the same.
Why would hardcore gamers need to p2w? They generally are the ones completing content first and in the case of NW, selling gear they farm to "casuals" and those who, for whatever reason, cannot earn the gear themselves.
Maybe announcing the new class /shrug If they really want to surprise and shock people, they'd announce a huge drop in cash shop prices and remove re-specs from the shop and put them in game (not just a free re-spec when they make big changes), I won't hold my breath though ;)
An excellent point. I can't think of another character that I felt as much attachment to as my little gnome enchanter in EQ. Nowadays I'm at level cap in a matter of days, or weeks at most of casual play.
