They posted a message on Facebook about the launcher bypassing: "Please note that if you've tried to bypass the Launcher with gameclient.exe, you'll receive an Account Error timeout. But we'll have a fix for the Launcher soon!"

Ditto. I patched two hours prior as well. I have a couple friends who did too and are playing now because they never closed the launcher window...I did.
