Sorry I have been away for a while. Got sick and stuff and needed time to recuperate. To go over the basics, I do believe the Valhalla Set is worth a gander at as well as using a Champion's Banner. The beauty in my opinion of this build is the flexibility. If you want the debuff route, then you can. If you just want to…
@swapilot Thank you for trying it out. Its not exactly a "one size fits all" but I am working on expanding the build to various styles (pure tanking, DPS, and maybe even moving it into the Devo Spec).
@trzebiat#2067 as far as the crit vs hp, it really comes down to what the player wants. I think there is an argument for both cases. More hp = more hp bonus for power/AoC (overall constant), but more crit = potential higher damage = more temp hp. To each their own. @swapilot I recently finished the Maze engine. Had to take…
I believe what this really comes down to is what do you have currently and what can you get in the meantime. Gear now days is considerably easier to get, at least on the PC side. With the existing guilds and strongholds, many are able to run DF without the effort that it took when Strongholds first came out. I used to use…
Thank you for your comment. For non-humans, I would not take Force of Will. The bonus crit is nice, but not a necessity for the tanking aspect of the build. If you absolutely could not do without Force of will, perhaps a point or two from Steadfast (you'd be sacrificing HP for crit) could work as well.
Added a section called Loadouts. If you would like to know more about the class features, dailies and others, please let me know and i'll be more than happy to update.
I have tested only a few and am waiting to test a T.Feytouched. With that being said, I personally liked Lightning as it is per hit, not per encounter. In testing, it is not what I personally consider a good DPS (every bit helps though), but it provides two really amazing things for tanks. First being it lowers the cool…
I tested Orcus last night with higher debuff values and had some very successful results. Below is the math that I only can conclude on why it is possible to face tank him without heals. Debuff - 10% from Martyr's, 15% max from Rust Monster, 30% from Bane, 12.5% from Aura of Truth = 67.5% DR Stuff = 64% Base, 10% from…
As a prot, I am stacking HP as much as possible. I am using The OP sig, Valhalla horn, Wheel and DC sig for AP gain. I am looking to move the DC sigal for another hp boost. Potentially looking at gwf sig, champions banner, manticore talon or symbol of earth for the bonus hp.
While everyone is concerned about the absolute highest DR, I believe that there are missing mechanics that are long forgotten about. As an OP, you are also able to debuff damage. Within a few encounters and feats, you are able to reduce damage by 50%+ without thinking much. I am not here to say DR is not important, because…
It comes down to a few factors. Gear/Item Level does play a role, but it is also how you play, which class feats you use, which encounters you rotate through and what works best for you. It will take time to find your groove.
From my testing, Temp HP does not affect the enchants. However, I believe damage increases do (archon's, feytouched, young yeti, etc). I will need to breakdown on how these get the additional damage (seen some hits for 14k+ for the 5% enchant with base hp of 200k).
As @hrunting1#2425 said, it depends on your playing style and what you like. The Justice capstone is indeed good for multiple reasons, but mainly for the cool down reducing and increased damage. The Divine Call action ends up doing two things. As Devo you'll cast an AoE heal, and as Prot you will gain 10% DR and taunt all…
As a protection OP, I like the feeling of having a ton of HP for the sole purpose of being "that" tank who can take the hit, Much like @rubytrue, I enjoy playing the dark side. It's the playable tank part that is missing IMO. The "sacrifice" for protections could be seen in Binding Oath. You take all damage (if you use…
Agreed, it is a nice feat.. That is something that I did evaluate before going into the Bulwark tree instead. The deciding factor was this. I can take 10% more defense (currently an extra 1500-1700 or 7-8ish percent) or take 10% Control resist, sometimes having 5% DR and Deflect and 10% damage reduced on target when taking…
There might be some confusion on what Gifts of Light does. Is it considered Outgoing or Incoming Healing? I think it is Outgoing, but willing to really dive into to have an answer on this. If it is incoming, then of course it would make some sense (if focus was maximizing your incoming healing). If it is outgoing, for this…
It's not that I am under-estimating, I understand and value those who run Aura Gifts and share their power. The primary focus of this build is to tank the big guys. The DPS is a bonus for aggro gain. A good DPS can't do anything if they are laying on the ground because the tank can't pull the boss off them. The self…
Thank you guys for your wonderful comments! @rubytrue Some things that I am enjoying with this is the debuff numbers against Orcus. With ease, I am reducing him down by 52% and increasing damage to him by 30% (using just Bane, AoT and Martyr's Blood, it is possible to go even more with Rust Monster (15%) and perhaps a…
Updated the guide with the two corrections and screenshots of certain areas. Was going off memory and as I age, the memory isn't as good as it used to. To go through your series of questions. This is a Protection build, as per the title of the post. I am not sure what actually showed up on NWCalc, but I am focusing some on…
Companions There is much arguement in this area as well. Augment versus Combat Companions with Bonding. I can see both views and when it comes down to it, its how comfortable you feel and how deep your pockets are to get the bonding runestones needed. I will give the Augment side of this for this build. I would love to…
One thing looking back is to increase your HP. You're defense is nice, but perhaps replacing a few of the rank 8 azures with even rank 8 radiant might make a change. 5k hp is a difference once you stack TW + BO. Also, I am not sure if consoles have it yet, but get an Energon companion for the bonus if they are available.…
As a prot pally, here is what I usually run. This has been a very viable build in 10.5 and able to do some decent damage. Dailies: Divine Judgement (when nothing else is needed) and Divine Protector (usually run this while tanking, helps not only keep your team alive, but also helps with BO). Encounters: Templars Wrath…
The standard Healadin build is fine even with the changes to vow (and yes, it is definitely welcomed). I personally use Divine Touch as my main healing (seen up to 500k+ heals from it). If you're using the Justice spec (with capstone), keep in mind that your Divine Call also a reduce all timers by 35%. Here is a list of…
I find using TW and BO together is rather amazing and provides a good shield to your temp hp. BO can also be used for a nice massive DPS boost as a Prot. I usually pair with Absolution or Blinding Light depending if I am tanking more or just killing stuff. I usually start off with BO, then TW and follow up with BL to keep…
