I'm not sure why you feel it's necessary to be rude. I'm not disputing that you can be chatbanned by being /ignored. I am disputing that it takes only 4-5 /ignores to do it. This is a widespread belief, but I'm not aware of any evidence supporting it. The evidence I have seen indicates that it takes more than 14 /ignores…
The claim that you can be banned by five people putting you on "ignore" is widespread, but is not supported by the evidence. The little bit of testing that has actually been done on this indicates that it requires much more than 5 people. IMO, if you're annoying that many people, you deserve to be chatbanned.
I'm not sure if it matters what address you use. To give yourself the best shot of it working, though, I'd put in the same name and address you used when you created your Neverwinter account.
I know. I think maybe regular credit cards automatically transmit this sort of info, and I think maybe prepaid cards don't transmit it unless they're registered. I may have gotten the technical details wrong, but what I can tell you is that registering the card worked for me when I had to use a prepaid card in a different…
It might be because the system is looking for a zip code. Most pre-paid cards have a way to register the card online. This will allow you to attach a zip code to your card. Sometimes that works.
Calling their launch an "open beta" was a great idea on PWE's part. It pretty much blunts any criticism about the game. I wonder if it will just permanently remain in "open beta" status?
I understand your point and I respect your position. I hope you won't be offended that I'm not entirely convinced that policing in a game must always be done by a GM. That would certainly be the ideal, but it may not be financially feasible. Perhaps the chat ban system could work if the threshold were higher, i.e., if it…
Please understand, I'm only asking questions, not making accusations. The idea that a company interested in making profit would intentionally create and leave a system in place that is as flawed as described here is difficult to believe. I'm trying to make sense of this.
How do you know that's the guy who banned you? Also -- again, with all due respect -- how do we know you're not stretching the truth or leaving something out?
With all due respect, we don't actually know there isn't more to the story in the cases you cite. People who are banned in games often don't tell the truth about the reason they were banned.
I like the chat-ban system. If somebody is so obnoxious that five people all put him on ignore, zone chat is probably better off without that person for the next 24 hours. I agree this could be used for griefing, but the appropriate remedy is to punish the griefers, not scrap the system.
