  • Again you fail to comprehend what i said just to make an argument. I never said the story was bad in fact it was quite decent. Also never said that story isn't important, in fact i said it actually was if you read my post. So thank you for agreeing with me that ToR failed not because of its story but because it based it's…
  • Thank you, yes that is exactly what i meant which was cleared up in a rebuttal. But you say it much better than i did. Story is awsome and something that mmo's have lost in the RPG world over the years. But at the end of the day, story only lasts for so long and if there is nothing else that is worth staying around, then…
  • I agree with everything you said accept for the d20 ruleset not working in an action oriented environment. Not saying that DDO is perfect in any way but it is damn good, on top of the list of the most successful F2P mmo's (once it went f2p) and is also one of the highest grossing. It uses a dnd ruleset ( not a perfect…
  • Every MMO that sells story this story that, has failed. I'm not saying story isn't important because it is. But story doesn't make mmo's. Ask SW:ToR. They have already stated that this won't be a literal dnd ruleset. Pretty much the only thing that is dnd in this game is some names of things, and the story which tbh isn't…
  • Yay!!! I can be the same exact cleric or wizard as everyone else WOO HOOO!!!. So glad DnD is focused on playing a class one particular way and not having any freedom to play the game/class the way you want to play it...... Oh wait... /endsarcasm
  • It actually has worked very well for many games
  • This was kind of the point i was trying to make. By them saying to not take the dnd rule set literal, they "might" be saying that we will get a wow style of class gameplay. You get what cryptic gives you. I have a feeling you wont get to pick your feats and such as you could in dnd. Ofcourse they can't comment on that as…
  • I wasn't aware i did any such thing lol. Nore did i say there shouldn't be accurate story telling. My point was, why call it dnd if its not dnd. You keep talking story this and story that. Which is great. I love the "forgotten realms" story. Its one of my favorites and one of the things i look forward to the most. However…
  • Except dnd ruleset isn't designed for min/maxing. Thats my whole point. By not having the freedom to make your character the way you want to play it, it becomes a min max game. Once you lock classes into a specific role it becomes min/max. I'm not trying to say that the story shouldn't be a big part of an RPG because it…
  • This more and more feels like the experience i had with SW:TOR. Expecting a Kotor dnd experience and then realized that it was just another wow with lightbats. I really hope that doesn't happen with this game but id be lying if i said it didn't have that same stink to it. Wish you guys the best and hope it works out. By…
  • So basically what you are saying, in a very confusing and long drawn out way, is that it wont be dnd so dont expect that lol. Im sorry but if you take away the ruleset, you don't have dnd. Most people that play/played dnd in the past didn't play a premade campaign, because, well as cryptic has said so far with the foundry,…
  • I was talking more about the dungeons and dragons in the title. Nothing less nothing more. And i know a lot about the game hasn't been released yet. This was just in reply to things that were said at the beginning of this thread. Also there have been plenty of preview interviews all stating that this game "is definately…
  • I wasn't really meaning for this thread to get off topic, so my appologies to the OP. I have just been lied to, and smoke blown up my bum so many times over the past few years of mmo's claiming to be something that they clearly are not. I just don't want to see this game claim to be Dungeons and Dragons, but to come out…
  • To the letter no. But it was very close. Close as you can pretty much get for a video game. But it was also more than just "inspiration".
  • That is quite unfortunate. So the Dungeons and Dragons portion of the name is primarily for marketing. Good to know. Take away the DnD ruleset and you aren't playing DnD. Guess ill stop posting on this forum and helping people then cause its likely that this will turn out to be just another mmo. Thank you.
  • I think you were joking, but in actuallity, rangers and rogues wear the same class of armor.
  • Probably a rogue as they can use bows as well. Rangers were never really known to dual dagger. Usually dual swords.
  • Being that they are staying true to the DnD ruleset, there wont be class locked items. It is based on what your class can use/wear. This can also be modified via traits. IE: If you are a fighter, you do not get a scimitar for your class. However you may pick up the trait for scimitar proficiancy, using one of your trait…
