Best healer companion

I was comparing the healer companions and to my surprise, it looks like the old "free" (the one you can get from the companion intro quest) female Cleric Disciple has the best heal.

Old free white female Cleric Disciple : 20% max hp over 10 secs
New free white male Apprentice Healer : sunburst (doesn't say how much is healed)
Green Fawn of Shalia : healing spring (doesn't say how much is healed)
Blue Dedicated Squire : heal 15% of health over 6 secs <--- is heath = current hp or max hp?
Purple Lillend : has 2 heals - (1) heal 1.6% of max hp , (2) heal 7% of health over 5 secs <--- is heath = current hp or max hp?
Purple 360 coin Angel of Protection : heal 6% max hp

Anyways, looking at this, it looks like the free female healer companion may be the best (will cost a lot to upgrade though).

Angle of Protection. Every 2,5 seconds 6% healing of max hp + 10 second shield (half damage) and if it rank 30 you get 5% less damage.

to that id add that angel gives a bubble whenever you are brought back from defeat, which works GREAT if you use soulforged armour enchant.

You have to take the cooldown of the powers into account, when considered which companion is the "best". It is annoying that the tooltips are not consistent in listing how much, exactly, they heal for. Also keep in mind that some companions heal 1 target, while others heal in an AoE, and some heal centered around an enemy.

I've had good experiences with the Lillend, the Alchemist Experimenter, and Dedicated Squire.

For reference, healing word on the Cleric_Disciple has a 30 second cooldown, and the similar power on the Apprentice Healer has a 25 second cooldown.

The Lillend's powers have a 2 second and 7 second cooldown, the Alchemist's heal is 6 seconds between casts, and the Squire's are 5 and 14 seconds...

So far the companions seem to get the same buff to DR that the reds get. Have had it a few times that I managed to get myself killed, and until the timer ticked off, I could hear my companion defending my corpse...

I concur with this. Though the Angel of Protection seems the strongest, fastest, most consistent. I would have to call this one the "best" among all of them for this reason. And there's a reason it costs so much to acquire (in terms of time, AH notwithstanding).

I just remembered also to check my Ardent Coin count on all my toons; just claimed 7 AoP companions and threw them into the bank because I feel the AH selling price for them is massively undervalued.

In Mod 5 I was finally able to acquire the Battlefield Medic on my GF and I haven't looked back since. Never needed to drink one HP pot although this was all before Mod 6 arrived. May end up using Angel of Protection on my Combat HR when I lvl her.

I was not aware of such huge differences in cooldowns, thanks for pointing this out.

If the 6% heal has a cooldown of 2.5 secs, then it's prob the best healer I've seen mentioned in this thread (from a pure heaing perspective). Does it really heal every 2.5 secs until you're topped off? Or does it only do it sometimes? (I'm asking cause some of my battle companions just stand around sometimes.)

Best healer imo is the Angel if you have it or can afford it. I've used a lvl 20 white cleric (the old one) while leveling my CW and that worked fine too, barely used any potions while leveling thanks to her.

I got an Angel with my coins and I am well impressed with her.

At level 35, whenever she is active she reduces incoming damage by 5%. That is a reduction in damage any other healing compaion would have to heal. Then aside from her heal and the permanent damage reduction, one of her powers intercepts half of all incoming damage for 10 seconds. Then her active power which shields you whenever you are revived. If you have Soulforged that is magic. And even better; when she isn't summoned this bonus is still activated. I think only the Battlefield Medic's active bonus is comparable.

The way I see it, the Angel prevents a lot of the damage the others would have to heal. Sure, she doesn't help with killing anything, but she keeps you safe.

Actually, now that I think of it, the Angel is a must if you can get one. Even if it isn't your summoned companion, her active bonus is one of the best around and she will synergise well with any of the other healers. I myself am considering getting a Battlefield Medic as well, as I believe it has an equally impressive active bonus.
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

This is a good thread, I was just wondering the same thing :D!

I'm curious on which companion would be the best in terms getting the most heals out to my party, not so focused on just me. The Liz Shaman seems, so far, to have the most powerful heals of all the healers I've tried. Though it only heals up to 3 players at time the heals very frequent (lol idk the CD).
I'm keen for any suggestions along the likes of the Liz Shamans strong, quick party heals if anyone has any :D

"beckylunatic" Gateway AH should have column headers to sort by buyout, bid, end time, quantity, etc. These disappeared iirc with the module launch. It's obnoxious.

I have seen from her at lvl 35 60k-70k heals.

Marsh Blessing heals you and up to 3 allies for an amount based on your companion's level and your total Hit points.
Marsh Blessing has a 15s cooldown.

I agree but they'll likely get even more undervalued because everyone now has the potential to earn Ardent Coin twice as fast due to recent changes in invocation. I have no crystal ball and general game price inflation may or may not overwhelm any increase in supply.

No, the invocation changes didn't double the number of Ardent coins per day. You are still limited to one a day, no matter how many times you invoke. You can earn two Celestial coins per day, but you cant use those to buy the Angel. And I suspect the number of people willing and able to earn two Celestials per day is fairly low.

The Alchemist is the only companion I've witnessed that actively seeks out and heals your teammates, even when not in combat. His heals *can* affect multiple targets, though that's only by chance.

The battlefield Medic also has an AoE heal.

Now I'm wondering between the Alchemist and the Liz which of the 2 most people most favor for party wide heals? :D

So the Alchemist's heal is 6 seconds between casts & the Liz casts every 15 seconds. The Liz heal is beast mode heals from a companion imo. What kinda #s do people see coming up when the Alchemist is healing?

Only bad thing about the battlefield medic is that he can get separated from you and becomes useless. Very poor choice for a class that's all over the place.

Can you still get the old female 'free' healer companion? I really don't like the male one. "You're as good as new! Well... New." WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?

I hated using the old cleric disciple companion. She didn't have the good sense to stay back out of harm's way. Instead she would always rush forward into combat, often pulling in adds you didn't want to fight yet, and generally just getting killed. I prefer a healer that stays alive long enough to heal me.

Dont forget he also attacks quite frequently unlike most healer companions which allows him to proc bonding runestones ALOT more then the other less uber healers ;)
