I believe you need professions packs.

You can't upgrade profession assets to the next rarity (white -> green -> blue etc) but you can find new assets in professions packs like mrkreepz said. That being said you can upgrade 4 assets of a lower rank to the next rank, for example 4 white Rank 1 Mercenaries from the Leadership profession can be upgraded to 1 Rank 2 Guard, but that doesn't increase the rarity (% speed) of the asset, it only allows you to undertake higher level profession tasks.

Yeah, I'm disappointed with how the professions are designed. They basically restrict you from being able to create/upgrade your own assets and force you to buy booster packs and hope for the best. I don't entirely hate the design, but there is so little in each pack that the chance of you getting anything you need or want to work on is slim to none. The packs are just too expensive for what you get. Now, if you could buy alchemy packs, or jeweler packs, or packs for whatever profession/task you're working on... or if there was a way to grind it out for that stuff (longer tasks or rare loot drops), that would be better... but no.

I'm not sure yet if the system design stops you from maxing the profession without gambling with Zen and booster packs, but it definitely limits your task options at levels 4-6. For example, I've yet to see a bag of gems after over 100 hours in the game. As it is, my only hope of getting rare (or better) profession assets or resources is the AH. Unfortunately, people are charging way more than I'm willing (or able) to pay to get my stuff up to level 20.

You can work and accomplish everything with the basic white assets, it just takes longer. (just quietly wait for AH prices to go down) The only 2 exceptions to the rule is the speed run and the lvl 3 reward, they require higher level stuff, at least rare quality (blue). I suggest just watching the AH for the right time to buy. Sometimes it is more economical to buy greens and upgrade them and sometimes it is better to buy blue, but never beneficial to buy very rare (not that I've seen)... and please don't out bid me... lol

Good to know I can eventually max out.

I still think the profession boosters need an overhaul though. They either need more random stuff per pack, single discipline focus, or the price needs to come down to about US$1.00 per pack. I don't mind spending money for content, but I don't want to gamble. If they let me buy what I need directly, I'd buy it.

Hey guys I have a question for the leadership profession. I need district maps for the task collecting taxes, I see there are some tasks the offer them as rewards but they take rather long. I was wondering if there was a more effective way of obtaining them. Also, I read on the wiki that you can merge local maps in order to make district maps but it doesn't say how you go about doing this. I've tried looking online for more info about this but I can't find anything. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Wait, so if I upgrade 4 of the basic assets to the next level of asset, he doesn't get the % increase? Ouch. Well, that does make the greens and blues in the packs a bit more valuable. I guess I should have done some more research on it before trying to upgrade my 4 basic guys. I just assumed they would turn into the green version that I already had with the higher %.

okay...I am not looking at something somewhere. Are you upgrading the "Mercenary's"? I have Leadership and like 8 merc's. I do not see how to "upgrade" them? I am level 6 Leadership. I cannot get the "Train an Adventurer" mission because it says that I need a Man-At-Arms. I guess I thought I got the man at arms by upgrading the merc's?

I am not sure why, but I am really confused. I have trying reading the Wiki's and the details on this are very slim.

It would be nice to see some detailed progression instructions on how this crafting system works.

    Thanks,
    JB

White items upgrade Merc > Guard (Level 7 task)> Footman (Level 13 or 14) I forget. Takes 4 of the previous level to upgrade.

If the practice has continued from the PC, There is a very very very small chance when upgrading the final option, in this case Guard to Footman to get a green (man-at-arms). I never have in leadership, but got 2 in Jewelrycrafting on PC.

If you remove all filters in your crafting window it will show all the possible tasks up to level 20, except the rare tasks.

They are relatively inexpensive on the AH (assuming the XBox has one) - some professions are just used for levelling and then people get rid of them, or their booster pack didn't come with what they wanted.

Also - the Clockwork dungeon quest reward gives you a profession pack, which is another source for the AH (and yourself). I can't imagine it would be worth it to farm that quest by re-creating chars tho :)

Clockwork dungeon gives a 12 slot bag. It is one of the Doomguide series of quests that gives the profession pack.

Its REALLY rare, like REALLY FRICKEN rare. But each time you turn 4 white T2 assets into a T3 asset. There is a rare chance that you can sometimes get a green asset instead.

Also watch the lockboxes, I don't recommend opening them. But different boxes will often have special profession packs inside as rewards. These packs often focus on one type of profession. When these come around prices for assets on those professions will plummet, due to sudden oversupply. Those are the times to scoop up assets cheap.

I messsed that up. I thought that I needed 4 Mercs to upgrade but the one I have unlocked is to upgrade Man-At-Arms to Adventurer. I got lucky to pull my one MAA out of something.

Hopefully the auction prices come down soon so some of these profession assets are more affordable.

You absolutely DO NOT have to spend any money to level any profession to 20 - you only require rank 3 'white' crafters (which you can upgrade by using 4 of the next lowest rank at levels 7 and 13 in most cases) and using resources bought using in-game copper/silver/gold from the professions merchant.

The 'green, blue and purple' crafters only provide speed bonuses (useful only for unlocking one of the nine profession slots) and the resources of the same colour only provide 'quality' bonuses (for unlocking another of the profession slots and enabling higher value crafted gear)

You're best off concentrating on Leadership to start with to generate AD and getting rare resources from the Celestial coin trade-ins (6 out of the current possible 7 on Xbox One at the moment, and occasionally you can get green or blue crafters that way too).

That way, if you really want to buy profession packs, you can use AD to get them from the auction house, or trade it for Zen in the Exchange (I made around 2000 Zen doing that last week, so definitely do-able) if you want to buy packs directly.

All it costs you is time (and quite a bit of it). If you REALLY want to spend out on something, buy a couple of character slots so you can turn a couple of toons at a time into a production line to speed up some of the crafting duties.
