Hello Everyone,

I'm a bit lost on where to go with my equipment. I'm a very casual player.. so the AH is my primary source of equipment.. your are welcome players with more playing time... :) On most days I only have time to log in and do my Invoking and Professions.. maybe run some Boon Dailies.. on Weekends.. I am able to PUG a dungeon or two...

Life of a working.. married guy.. with kids :) For those of you who aren't.. lots to look forward to :)

I'm currently speced Conqueror

My current Equipment consists of: 15kish Gear Score

4 Piece Timeless (Armor Enchant (Soulforged))
CN - Sword + Shield (Weapon Enchant (Plaguefire))
Thayan Zealot Cloak + Rings
Ancient Priest's Burning Light Belt
Epic Gemmed Shirt and Pants.

Artifacts are: (All Blue.. slowing working on epic)

Lantern
Sigil of Great Weapon
Sigil of the Devoted (If I get lucky some day.. replaced with Eye of Lathander)

Base Line Stats:

4.5k Power
2k Crit
1.6k AP
2k Recovery

3.4k Defense
2k Deflection
600 Regen
1.7k LifeSteal

Companions and Active Bonuses:

1. Vicious Dire Wolf (5% to interrupt)
2. Rebel Mercenary (+55 to Power / AP)
3. Ioun Stone of Allure (7% Chance to Slow)
4. Panther (10% damage to prone targets)
5. Mercenary (+55 Power / Crit)

ATM....

I see these being my main options:

1. Save.. and get Weapon Enchant upgraded to Greater Plaguefire.. or Switch to Vorpal.
2. Get Artifacts upgraded to Epic.. (long road to Legendary)
3. Improve Enchantments (most are Rank 7 currently)

So Questions:

1. Is there a better purchasable Armor Set?
2. Should I switch to Vorpal? If so.. what is crit rating should I be going for?

I don't have 50 million AD to spend... I probably generate 1.5-2 million monthly via Leadership and Invoking... and have about 3-4 million currently on hand.

Thanks in Advance.

For PVE purposes, Timeless is decent forsure.

Really some of the better sets are ones with overload slots, so I would look into the Draconic gear, or if you can, farm the blackice gear - which IMO is the BIS gear.

You cant BUY BlackIce gear, it requires some daily grinding and HE grinding but if you can get it - or even just 2 pieces of BlackIce 2 Pieces of Draconic that would prob be best.

Also, the draconic weapons have better top end - or try and get the artifact weapon as well.

Nothing to offer really, your setup is very close to my first GF. It's pretty well done, IMO. You can get better gear, I guess, but I haven't really felt the need.

You didn't mention pets. So maybe you can do some tweaking there (active bonuses?)

How is that Thayan Neck and Ring set doing for you? I always thought those would be somewhat decent, but I thought only with the entire set.

Oh, and unless you somehow got a very high crit chance.. I could only get to about 23%.. I wouldn't go Vorpal. The PF is probably better. I use Lighting on my CONQ, PF on my TACT. I will likely switch them, though.

If you are looking for upgrades froim AH only, you could buy the new "shores" jewellery, or go with the "hrimnir" set which is also very good, since GF make use of every stat.

if you want to improve your weapon you can buy the draconic one, but you will have to do the new skirmish (drop rate is maybe 1/40 for offhand rough guess based off 1 chest only.)

As for enchantment, vorpal would squeeze out more damage with your crit rate. But you wont noticed a huge different between GPF and greater vorpal. So you might as well stick to plaguefire, unless you can get hold of a perfect one.

Timeless is your best bet and more than adequate, if you want to change you can switch to regent which would benefit your stats quite well (since you have low regen, and high crit) and the bonus does not require any busywork.

    Those actives are good.

Not sure about the Direwolf though. Chance to interrupt when WHAT is done? Could be great, could be a waste. It would be awesome if it had a chance to interrupt on Tab-Mark. XD If it is on dealing damage, it is pretty darned good, provided it works!

Also the Panther. Only good if you are using FLS often and rushing to take advantage of it when you use it. I try to avoid situationals, but I am lazy (translation, I am old and had too much fun when I wasn't old. I forget things.) Like weapon damage, I like things that are always on. Probably good for soloing though, since it prones as one of its attacks.

Only thing id consider is dropping some Crit for some armor pen (make sure ARP + Dex puts you at 24% TOTAL for PVE)

If you are already there, drop your 2k for more Power. With Timeless your getting a boost to crit, so id probably not go over about 1400. Otherwise the timeless set does nothing for you.

    Great advice here.

    Thanks again guys.

I think I'm going to drop a bit of Crit and look to upgrade to a Greater PF.

The Dire Wolf procs on any attack. It's also apparently not a control effect as it can interrupt immune stuff like Maws in Spellplague. I ditched it from my TR for that reason as it makes the mobs less predictable - you end up dodging attacks that don't happen and then not being able to dodge the next attack that started nearly instantly afterward. For the GF it works great though, since you don't use that much stamina to block, it's not even noticeable.

Thanks for sharing that information, Pitshade. Was actually curious about it. And it is probably really good info for the OP since he has one.. =)

Specifically for conq and they are phasing them out, blue belt with offense slot. It will likely be expensive but outside of an artifact belt it is BiS for conq.

Lots of blue gear is better than Ancient whatever in the right application. I mean.. apart from 2/4 and 4/4 bonuses, the blues are better than the purples anyway. But those obviously have to be considered.

Example- Way back when... I could not believe how my primary GWF went from awesome, oh wow, to ... what the hell is this?- when I went from all blues to the full avatar set with same everything else. It cut his survivability and damage in half.

I later rebuilt, and got much better enchants, and it is fine. But honestly.. if I could go back... hahaha

Sure but that offense slot is not replaceable with anything else in the game and soon enough they will all be bound...

for pets, i would suggest buying an evoker -when crit it does damage up to 5 enemies (since gf is always at the thick of things) you will get a lot of milleage for this one especially in PVE

    Basically it's

    Blacksmith
    Evoker
    Stone

and any other active bonus you would prefer.

For accesorry hrimir is a very good set as it's well distributed stats or shores - that way you won't hit those heavy Diminishing returns.

for PVE - i'm still using the knights captain set whenever i group or not :) Party buff. (knights valor+Into the fray+ knights captain set) you will always have a slot in any party if your a tactician then you are a buff slave lol

The direwolf's knockdown will proc everytime when you mark the target. This makes it a natural companion to the GF.

Well that would make it broken since it is only supposed to proc a small percentage of the time. I guess maybe you mean it procs on mark and it occasionally works? Cool that it does though. Now I want one. But alas...

The third ability of the direwolf is takedown, and it procs when it has Combat Advantage. Guardian Fighter Mark applies Combat Advantage, meaning each time that attack cycles..it knocks the target down.

Aaah. You are talking about a SUMMONED companion. We were talking about active bonuses. I get it now.

That attack does not apply when you have an augment summoned.

The new draconic weapon set will be great for your build. The sword offers lifesteal and you make use of that. The bonus is a nice, fat 1800 hp which is kinda rare on GF gear.

Actually, you CAN buy some of the Black Ice Gear -Helm, Armor, Boots & Off Hand in Caer Konig - these, as well as the dropped Bracers and Main Hand can be Purified or Corrupted through crafting as well as Enchants (lesser and Greater) crafted through Black Ice crafting.
