So I logged out of Neverwinter, closed Arc and tried launching directly from the Neverwinter.exe application and it crashed at the same loading point.
Signed into Arc again and launched it from Arc - works!
I wonder what this means? ;)

I cant launch game trough Arc, its just intializing Neverwinter please wait, and nothing happens><
Well I had the same problem, crashing at the Cryptic logo screen.
Logged in via Arc, launched the game launcher and force verfied. After that, everything seemed to work. Got a message that my graphics settings had been reset to default, but it's all good
Yeah tried that a number of times still winds up crashing after the cryptic splashscreen finishes loading....for pete's sake not one offical response from this shoestring company regarding this issue are you serious.
Okay uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling from scratch seems to have worked for me. Yes, graphics settings were reset, but at least now I've gotten to the character select screen. I'll update if the game crashes again but I'm pretty happy that I got past the Cryptic load screen!
did this worked for anyone else?i dont want to reinstal game for nothing
Found a file "Arc On Demand", that was not responding. It wouldn't shut down via Task Manager or by manually locating the file. It was stopping the whole Arc/Neverwinter programs from being uninstalled too. I eventually got it deleted. Rebooted, reinstalled Arc and finally managed to get 'in game'.
"Here's a circle... I'm not sure it's a real circle, so don't trust it too much!" Idril (AoGlyph)
I wasn't previously, but other people in the thread reported the same crashing problem even when using arc.
It's worth noting that there's a process somewhere staying in memory after the crash. Each time I crashed, I could open the launcher, but it would never do anything. (It would say it was patching, but never do anything.) I had to reboot my computer to clear the memory in order to get the launcher to actually patch/verify and launch the game. It would still crash on the Cryptic screen. After uninstalling, rebooting to clear everything from memory, and downloading a fresh set of files, I seem to be okay. It does sound like an old file somewhere got corrupted with this patch, and needs to be freshly loaded. I'm not crazy about having to use Arc now, but just happy the game works again.

I whacked the entire contents of my /live folder and the launcher is re-downloading it. It's at 19.7% so far. Will post the results as soon as I can.
FWIW, i'm not running Linux nor do I have an 8-core machine. I think this goes deeper than that.
DEVS: Can we get a dump of what the error reporter is gathering?
Not sure it's gathering anything.. every time I crashed the error reporter would stall at the data collection phase and never go anywhere. i also couldn't submit an error report, it just sat there unresponsive. Cryptic may not be getting much data around this crash.

Time to fire up Ida Pro and start digging.
Re-downloading everything didn't help either. I've got Ida analyzing the executable (GameClient is huge, so it takes a while). Once it's loaded I'll go to that location and start backtracking. I'm guessing that the client has some new code that isn't checking the result of an API call and isn't handling a null-result case. I've been suspecting this for a few hours, but now I can try to verify it.

Yes i having same problem not loading game.I did a complete uninstall/reinstall. Changed graphic cards, did all the options listed in this thread.Still crashing.Oh well back too DDO.Wonder if this has anything too do with the recent AD theft that just acurred prior?
- Setting up your RawInputBackgroundThread is failing
- The call to DirectInput8Create is succeeding
- After succeeding in the call to DirectInputCreate(), in your if() statement where you check if you created the raw input background thread, the first method call fails and the second one succeeds.
The result is that the overall result is a failure status, and the input device doesn't get created. I don't know what should happen here, as I don't have access to your source code, but this is where you need to look.
Edit: it looks like it's failing on CreateDevice(GUID_SysKeyboard) but succeeding on CreateDevice(GUID_SysMouse). FWIW.
Edit: I noticed the mods shortened this post. That's okay. Just one other tidbit: since the mouse routine returns success and the keyboard routine returns failure, it doesn't matter why -- the fact that there is no raw input thread and a pass on *either* the mouse or keyboard routine is the problem. Both of those routines do the same thing: set the data format, the cooperative level, and a property, but ultimately I think it's due to the fact that the raw input thread isn't getting set up. What if a user has no raw input devices? I strongly suspect that this is the problem.
Okay. I'm starving. Time to order a pizza while you on the left coast chew on it (hopefully!!!)

Ok, time to go back to WoW, although it kinda sux now il gladly pay the subscription to a game i dont even liek that much anymore then waste my time tryng to play a broken game made by a greedy gaming corp.Had to say it, just had to, been waiting for DD chest bugg to get fixed for 1 month and nothing and now i cant even logg in, im done.
I tried everything on this post but nothing works...
I searched on web and i solved my problem.
1- Run game in windows mode
2- Add this string on command line: "-d3d11Enable 0"
This works fine for me. First, on full screen, i've got a problem. After putting it on windows mode i can enter the game.
(Sorry bad english, im not a native).
I hope it helps!
Not only crashing, but actually getting a Blue Screen of Death and the computer is resetting! Did manage to log in on the second attempt yesterday, but back to the BSOD again today...
I go years without a BSOD and suddenly I get two in two days... Congrats, NW!
If I go through Safe mode it alows me to log on, otherwise it crashes my Video Card Driver or the GameClient.exe stops working.
FIX IT! FIX IT! FIX IT! FIX IT! FIX IT! FIX IT!

Is there a way to obtain a meaningful crashlog? It seems that CrypticError doesnt do anything...
Suggestions to improve NW:
- Dualspec
- Better rewarding foundry and foundry pvp maps
- Custom PvP leagues with leaderboards instead of the current 'matchmaking'.
- Armory
- make jumping cost stamina (to reduce hopping in pvp)
TBH I think it's just there to placate the masses as it were....hat-tip to the mods for deleting quite a few angry posts...btw did you forward to the tech guys that it might be nice for them to you know kinda officially respond to this and a host of other threads regarding this crash bug (the same one that was on preview and was complained about with no official response nor fix). Remember most of us have actually bought quite a few items off the zen merchant in the past and the probability of us doing so again that is if this issue is addressed is getting slimmer by the day.
..when the game starts up, too.. Between that and the issues setting up raw input, it could kill the game for some folks.
(I think I dodged the bullet on this one, touch wood)

Ok before the patch I logged in no problem. After the patch my game keeps crashing at the Neverwinter screen. I send report, reverify, try again, and poof same thing. I have uninstalled, re downloaded and installed, but still crash. I'm happy to hear you fixed the issues with the Dragon and caster packs. I'm looking forward to using mine as well as the 5k in zen I bought. Any ETA on when you will get around to fixing this so I can? My count shows 4 other threads listing this problem but 0 dev action. I'm so glad I spent money on this game. Who do I see about a refund?

Time to fire up Ida Pro and start digging.
Re-downloading everything didn't help either. I've got Ida analyzing the executable (GameClient is huge, so it takes a while). Once it's loaded I'll go to that location and start backtracking. I'm guessing that the client has some new code that isn't checking the result of an API call and isn't handling a null-result case. I've been suspecting this for a few hours, but now I can try to verify it.

Ahh, didn't know what process was locking up. I was looking for a neverwinter or PWE reference, silly me! :P

I go years without a BSOD and suddenly I get two in two days... Congrats, NW!

FIX IT! FIX IT!
- Dualspec
- Better rewarding foundry and foundry pvp maps
- Custom PvP leagues with leaderboards instead of the current 'matchmaking'.
- Armory
- make jumping cost stamina (to reduce hopping in pvp)
..when the game starts up, too.. Between that and the issues setting up raw input, it could kill the game for some folks.
(I think I dodged the bullet on this one, touch wood)
