Everytime i log on my alts doing leadership, i never have to click the refine AD button on them.
I know it's not automatic if we dont log on.. Is logging action alone triggers the refine ?
Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks

I don't experience that personally, what I do see is when I log in there is always a system notify that says "0 astral diamonds refined". If you are seeing that I don't think you are auto refining anything its just a system notification bug or something I think. However if you log in and your AD is already being refined for you in earnest then personally i'd consider changing passwords. Unless of course you are using gateway and may have refined your AD on there, you maybe getting a system notify when you log into the game from what you were doing via gateway.
Sorry probably no help here but just things i've observed in my months of playing.
I don't think there is an auto-refine feature in the game

Every morning I see a message that says 'You refined 0 astral diamonds.' When I have leftover diamonds from the previous day, I don't think I see it, but either way, I have never seen anything auto-refine. I'm glad of that. I don't want it.
About once a day on one of my characters, whatever RAD I have when I click refine, just disappears, never to be seen again. I have watched this very closely, over the last year. I have reported it many times, and only got a response once telling me they can't help and I should just fill out a bug report. I've done that.. but it goes on.
Anyway, I just accept it these days and refine in small increments.. So I lose 2000 AD at a time instead of 12000. Sometimes I still lose big though, like after salvaging something big or doing dailies.
So I hope auto refine never works for me.
Doesn't answer your question, but it is sort of related.

I know Old Zeb (Zebular) or another Mod can clarify, but if I remember correctly:
The limit for daily refining is 24,000. If you are in-game playing and earn 24,000 in "batches" - and say you have refined the first 18,000 or so.... earned the rest and logged out. When you login any remaining AD you earned yesterday that would have qualified for for refining yesterday (up to that 24,000 amount) is auto-refined on your first login today. I do believe this includes GATEWAY logins, too.
So basically:
Any left over AD from yesterday - up to the 24,000 Daily limit from yesterday will be auto-refined on your *first* login to that character today. But only on your first login to that character, and only yesterdays AD, up to yesterdays 24,000 limit (to complete your daily limit of refinement.
What I'm not sure about: if that auto-refinement of yesterday's AD apples to today's limit?
So, if I had 48,000 AD and refined 20,000 AD yesterday, login today and 4,000 is auto-refined to complete yesterday's 24k limit - does that 4,000 auto-refinement count against today's limit, meaning I can only refine another 20,000 and not the remainder still? I suspect it does NOT, but I'm not sure.
your AD gets refined when you log into the game. Anything you do in the Gateway stays in the un-refined pool until you do log in. I was only doing professions on the gateway on some toons and noticed their pool was not moving, the toons I played in game did not have a backlog. Now I am back to logging on every toon every days
ps. you can press "refine Diamonds" when you look at your bag in Gateway
If you log out while standing in an invoking circle, your unrefined astral diamonds will get refined for you when you log back in. That how I have always believed it has worked.

Don't quote me directly, but if you haven't refined in the previous 24 hours AND still have rAD remaining, the system will refine any rAD you have remaining automatically, up to the daily limit.

I have never had any of my rAD auto-refined, as far as I know.
Although, it has only been a moment or two in over a year that I ever hit the 24k AD mark in a day. I am a casual gamer, after all.
Me too. I have never had any AD auto-refined at all.
I play regularly and I often pass the 24k limit. The next day -when the refinement resets again- I have to manually refine it.
Maybe there is some option to auto-refine it but that I don't know.

If you're a Gateway user, the auto-refining triggers don't seem to kick in. Since you can manually refine in Gateway, I always just do that. It seems to save me the annoyances people report regarding their refined totals not increasing as well.
Don't quote me directly, but if you haven't refined in the previous 24 hours AND still have rAD remaining, the system will refine any rAD you have remaining automatically, up to the daily limit.
Aha, that must be. So if you cant refine it the next day then it refines itself the next days, if I understand it correctly, till there is nothing left to refine. Per example if I take a vacation and I left like 60k AD unrefined when I get back in a week everything will be refined, right?

No it will not be refined. Once you log in, any RAD up to the daily limit (of 24,000) will be refined. This refined AD does not count to that day's limit. (Yep, it means you can refine another 24,000 RAD. And if you do, it would leave you with 48,000 AD and 12,000 RAD.)
It has been like that ever since I started playing NWO last year (OB player here).

That's exactly how it works. You must have a remaining "balance" from the previous day. Also, if you refine through the gateway the next day prior to logging in, it will negate the potential for auto refining.

How auto-refine works:
-- At 3:00am Pacific is the daily reset for quests and AD refinement limit.
-- At 3:00am Pacific when the Refinement Limit of 24,000 AD resets, if a character has not refined their limit and has Rough Astral Diamonds still, those RAD will be auto-refined up to their limit from the previous day.
For example: Having 100,000 Rough Astral Diamonds; If I refine only 20,000 RAD today, when 3:00am Pacific comes around, 4,000 RAD will be auto-refined and my Refinement Limit is then reset to 24,000.

This very much explain why my leadership & praying alts never have to click the refine button.. as they rarely exceed 24k RAD for a day. Also explain when i did profession on gateway without logging in to the game, the RAD wont auto refine... In conclusion, only logging in to the game activates the 'daily' auto refine.
see it as an automatic daily.
it also resets at the same time as the usual dailies.
autorefine just happens 1 time a day.
the rest you have to manualy refine or wait till resets (not 24 hours ;p but till daily reset time ;p)

Sorry, I didn't see this when I first replied. That is correct.
If you use the Gateway to Refine and hadn't logged into the actual Client Game yet since 3:00am Pacific, your Auto-Refining for the previous day won't happen. This is for two reasons, one that the Gateway doesn't Auto-Refine because the Server Checks character log-in to the actual Game to check for Auto-Refine eligibility. Two, so players cannot manipulate the auto-refine system (e.g. Refining in gateway and then getting yesterday's refine limit refined when logging in. This would cause issues for newly gained AD through the Gateway prior to logging into the actual game).
As for why the Gateway and actual Game itself aren't in sync with the Auto-Refining, I do not know. Until it is, Auto-Refininging in Gateway won't happen and Manually Refining in Gateway will negate the auto-refining of the previous day's refinement limit upon login.
I always looked at this as a bonus feature for the gateway. If you have tasks running overnight and collect from them in game it goes in the CURRENT day. If however, you collect from these tasks on the gateway just before you login, the AD will be credited to the PREVIOUS day. All this works within the limits of the game, 24k limit etc, but allows you to start with 0 (assuming you a total of 24k or less ) unrefined AD after you collected on the gateway as it gets refined into the previous day when you login.

I have experienced the same thing. However when this happens look at the total you have in the zax. It should show the true total you have. Then make a bid and cancel.
