Hey Guys !
As everyone, i run again and again and again (....
) beholder and remorhaz to drop the main hand and gloves for my BI stuff. I mostly want to MH but gloves too to complete the set.
( i got the 2 items on my DC but none with my TR )
But the problems are the encounter pop every 1h30, if im right, and we only need ~10min to kill them.
Its also hard to find them or to rejoin a fight. Very random so, too much random !
And i was thinking :
"Why didnt these 2 items drop in Kessel's retreat too ? "
Ive unlocked the skirmishe but i wait guildies to run it. But i already know there are only BI belts and artifact there to drop, not very interessing.
Its almost useless for me ( except artifact maybe ). I want to try it only for fun.
BUT, it could be more interesting if we could drop BI gloves and main-hand in Kessel's retreat !
-> Run again and again a skirmishe is less random
-> Kessels's retreat would be also more interessing to run
-> Beholder/remo encounter are still good place to loot them for people who havent unlocked Kessel's retreat
-> Its possible because the skirmishe require only 2 BI item ( ie, boots and helm ) actually.
Everyone win !
What do you think about that ?? Give me your opinion !
( Sorry for my english, i could made some mistakes ! )

If they want poeple to actually run the HE's, actually UP the black ice beyond node levels.. ie, you complete a major its like 1000 black ice , minor 500.
Then poeple would run them..
Already, I see most people avoiding them, doing the ones they can do solo, or tagging on the end of one. I know Im sick of them.. and sick of not getting the drops, plenty of top tier brackets.. still looking for many items for 3 of my 60s.
I still have not gotten the bracers and am really frustrated with it. When you work hard to get the other 3 armor pieces and purify/corrupt them, it natural to want that 4th piece and see how they actually work as a set. I've been wearing 2/2 while looking for the bracers. I've participated in lots of the high end HEs and have done everything I can think of to increase my chances, based on people's educated guesses as to what is factored in. I've done all the steps, increased my damage as much as I can, hit as many mobs as I could, revived people, etc. and sometimes for all of that I get only an enchant and a small amount of ice. Yet other times I do the same work and get even two blue crafting parts..not just one...but never any gear or bracers. I honestly don't mind doing this for the weapon set. It's like it is with the other high end weapons in the game from MC, CN, VT, etc. You get the offhand and have to work like crazy for the main. I did that and didn't mind. The armor set is different, in my view. When you work hard to get the set it's very frustrating not to have any control over getting that forth piece. No amount of work seems to make any difference, and no one is even sure how the drop works. I've heard that if too many people are involved then the drops are lowered. That makes it even more frustrating, if true, because the events pop slowly and tons of people usually show up at the events known to drop the bracers and main weapon. Since it's such a HAMSTER shoot, I'd at least appreciate it if we knew for sure if it was a totally random drop or if actual factors were involved ..what are those, so we can try to meet those requirements.
I love the game and am usually very positive. This particular thing just has me very frustrated and I wish we had more information.
I agree.
We avoid useless HE except epic ones for the loot but the system dont work well for many of us.
I dont think they'll put MH and gloves in shop. They want we farm them. Its ok for me but not in the actual condition. That's why
i thought we could to loot them in Kessel's retreat. Or improvise the loot rate in HE ..
You don't have to do those. ANY epic encounter have the same chance of dropping MH/Gloves.
* a blue event with "great success"
* a purple event with "encounter completed" (or better)
anyone disagree with these observations?
1,000 black ice is meaningless to me. IMO, the only good things that come from HE's are refining points from BI enchants. Those are the only reason I do them at all. I don't even see a reason to get to rank 3 BI shaping. I'll probably get the last boon and be done with the campaign.
It would also be better to have chance to get something more useful from Kessel than Lesser purif/corrupt enchant that can be only sold or put into BI slot...
I'd have to agree, personally,
I already have a good 60k Refined Black Ice, BUT... my artifacts are hungy...
I still run these HEs even though I have all the gear, the Enchants you can get to feed your artifacts are huge. I actually am wishing they'd improve the drop rate of them a little more. I think they may have overdone the lesser drop rate for visual purposes a little too much.
While larger Black Ice rewards are nice, more enchants... like the amount that used to drop coming from the reward menu would be very nice.
And you're right
I finnaly drop my gloves from the Remorhaz's hunt encounter that i could almost solo with my TR. I was easier to get the damages needed also ^^
Initially, i thought only raiders/remo/beholder could drop these items. I was wrong but it could still be a good idea to made Kessel's retreat more interesting to run a lot.
Have all HEs give a chance at dropping a "Black Ice Gauntlet Fragment" - now add a task to the Black Ice profession to combine 3 such fragments to create the gauntlets. Now all HEs become a potential source for the gauntlets...

Make Dwarven Valley HE drop main hand weapon fragments. Follow similar criteria for making weapons from MC/VT in weaponsmithing.
Only drop fragments of the class to the class participating, ie a TR will only get TR frags, etc. Otherwise the RNG will make completing a weapon/arm an act of frustration.
Make Kessel's Retreat have a normal chance of drop arm or weapon fragments, with a low chance of dropping completed arm or main hand components. Possibly make theses a reward for completing Kessel's during Skirmish hour.
Allow current HE design to remain in place, allowing the drops of full Arms and Main Hands to the top scorers in the HE.
You could add a 4th Black Ice Shaping Tier to accommodate the new creation tasks and add whatever time sink you think would be valid, another 10-15 days would probably be acceptable.
This gives players options to try and farm for pieces or item itself. Options are always good. You may have to farm 50-100 HE's but you will eventually obtain a piece if you work hard, something that is not the case currently. Now it is all luck based and you could farm heroics until you collapse and still not receive a thing.
Developers need to come to understand, endless or repetitive grinds and luck based frustration will eventually drive away the players once the players become disenfranchised. You may retain the diehards and the gambling addicts but the normal players will eventually succumb to the pent up frustration your games creates. There is a fine line for this balance and good games succeed with this type of balance.
