Arc Beta Renegade Illusionist - useful for HRs?

Just started a HR today, and must have had some stars in my favor because I noticed the announcement of the Arc Beta Gift with the Renegade Illusionist account-wide companion.

Since this companion has both deflect and lifesteal, was thinking of using him instead of a cleric companion (or at least kept as an active companion) - any thoughts on if this is a good idea?

Well considering you can have 3 Companions Active (you get the Boost form all 3), it doesn't really matter. Cleric for Heals first in the game is good though.

Actually you can have 5 Active Companions.
    Obsidian Moonlight - Paladin
    Obsidian Oath - Warlock
A whole lot of other Obsidian toons as well.

Are the http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/ links working for you?

Deflect and Life Steal are always useful, especially for a dps. That said it depends on your build. Figure you really only need about 4% Life Steal max to give yourself effective hp recovery. Whatever you get from your gear usually covers this very well. As for the deflect it depends on your preference. I like defense from my companions since my gear has a lot of deflect, but that might change later when the new PvP update goes live.

    Aha, new players start with 3 :) then 4 then 5 !!!

I actually started a new HR after this thread and the Renegade Illusionist is a great pet - would love to have it as a lv 30 Companion if only it was not so $$$

what I'd like to know is how his Mirror Image attack synergizes with Archery rangers.

does it do a good job of helping to keep mobs at a distance?

Yeah. It attracts them, so a good way to have a tank! It also spins them around so that their back shows to you.

Another Plus is, that the actual Companion is not hit - so more survivable - that is unless swarmed with mobs and he is targeted directly.

I also like the Blue Light's - IT looks Pretty!!!!
