Blue gear better than Epic T1 ?!

I've reach lvl 60 with a HR and bought some blue gears at the AH so I could start doing Dungeon Delves and PVP to grab some Epic gears.
These blue gears cost me no more than 30k AD.
I've done PVP and bought the full T1 pvp set.
I've done some T2 and bought the Drake Seal Bow, which gives more dmg... but when I equip it, it actually lower my damage in almost 1000 compared to the blue bow I was using.

Same thing to the pvp set... it gives around 1500 GS less then the blue ones.

I've tested the dmg output on pvp dummies and the blue gears indeed gives more dmg and crit more times while keeping a solid defense/deflection stats.

So i'm wondering whats wrong with the T1 sets... they are harder to get, more expensive and way worst than blue gears

A lot of blue gear has T2 stats (exception of weapons, which for classes other than HR at least are always worse than the worst purple), but simply lacks the set bonus.

Blue gear just happens to be cheap because you get it so often these days. Pre Feywild, blue gear used to actually cost nearly as much as Purple gear. That, and purple gear can be salvaged, so it always has a minimum price

Yup, with blue gear you can achieve very balanced and/or concentrated stats specifically matching your playstyle and build needs.

Quite often it is not until you get a T2 set for its bonus(es) that you can achieve an actual improvement in your gear.

I actually successfully farmed/dps/tanked all T2s and MC while wearing mostly blue gear on my GWF, because it was not worth slotting single pieces or even two pieces for the set bonus without the full set.

Thank you for your replies guys
Since almost every hero I inspect is using epic gear, I felt like something was wrong about the gear stat math.
    Really appreciated
Ill go straight to T2 weapons

I have to say this seriously diminishes the fun factor in the game for me. Epic gear which is so much harder to attain should be better than the blue drops I get randomly for free. It doesn't make any sense. The only way to "level" your character after reaching 60 is to improve your gear. It's a serious letdown to get a piece of epic gear only to find out that it's actually worse than the blue you are already using.

Anyone else think this is really weak?

In theory yes, but in practice given that the supple of Epic gear has diminished and prices increases, if it wasn't for the possibility of newer players using Blues ewer or inexperienced players would have a much harder time getting decent enough equipment to run Tier 1s. And even now, with Blue gear and rank 4 enchants certain Tier 1s aren't that easy. So I would hate things to be changed unless there was a general dungeon difficulty revamp at the same time.

Although perhaps they could boost Tier 1 gear a bit so it is better than the Blues whilst still inferior to Tier 2 purples. This would be much preferable to nerfing the Blues which would just pointlessly increase the grind for newer and less experienced players.
