Thanks for the adorable Fawn!

Got it late last night. Cutest thing ever, especially prancing around on the ice. Bonus: seems like a useful/good healing and regen. companion and, of course, he goes along perfectly with my rare spotted deer mount, too! Maybe they're related.... ;)

This is a short video of him having fun on the ice - before he acquired the green glow at Lvl10 (sorry if it's fuzzyish on YouTube's lower resolution settings :( - try it at 720 or 1080)

I'm having a ball with the Winter Festival, just like I did with the Mid-Summer. It's not just the items - I love the separate area for these festivals, the silly chat while everyone's doing it, and the snowy decor. Will be farming for more than one of these adorable companions. Thanks for making my Winter a little brighter!

Any tips on how to farm for the Lights? I only just started looking at the Festival and the price seemed really high for you to have gotten it so fast.

Biggest thing is time and patience. ;)

Get the temporary Festival profession (after you do the starter quests the Mayor introduces you to it), then do enough of the other contests (race and monsters on the ice) to get the rings of light and the, uh, forget the name, looks like a shield to level it to 3. Shouldn't take too long. Then craft the purple/epic fishing pole. That make a huge difference in fishing.

Then go fish. And fish. And fish. Stick to one fishing hole, don't go chasing after the different colors, just wait the few seconds when the hole "closes" for it to open again. Or you can bounce back and forth between two close holes. After a while you'll get a ton of those light pods from the fished pouches and bags to craft bait (as well as get some bait from the bags). Using those helps fishing even more. Winning the fishing contest or at least coming in 5th place or so gets you 45 or 25 Lights each time too. Can do maybe 150-200 or more an hour, depending on luck/dedication. I was doing more than that (closer to 300) when the colors/skeletons weren't working but those slowed me down a bit.

Do a race now and then etc. to break up the monotony.

Does it aggro mobs like the other healing companions?

Well, only his aoe heal does, but because it heals for a small amount, mobs wont attack it until all party is dead...and if they do,fawn avoids red zones and runs from mobs quite nicely.I think he got the best ai out of all companions...

His aoe heal is bad anyways,it ticks for 300-400/0.5sec and has an area slightly smaller than cleric's astral shield(its duration isnt that bad tho),the only real healing fawn does is by adding lots of(im planning to get it to 5-6k when he is 30,right now without ring slot and with tier 5 runes its +/- 3k)regen.

Awww... I would love a companion like that. Unfortunately some of us are stuck going on vacation, so I won't be able to farm up the stuff needed for it. Not that I would anyway, as I tried it once, and are bored already. And even if I did get the fawn, there's no way I would bring it into combat. I'd rather sit in a corner in PE and hug it all day long. But other than that, awesome companion. :)

As much as I love the Fawn I don't think I'd spend to upgrade it (yes I could easily afford the AD cost). At least not for a long time. I haven't upgraded any companion yet ... well, except for one Cleric, because I accidentally hit the button and for some reason had no confirmation screen (glitch or something) so it upgraded the darn gal instantly.

I have the diamonds, but so far nothing has seemed worth upgrading to me. Not that I haven't been tempted a couple times. Still...the fawn is definitely one to consider upgrading if one is close to wanting to pull the trigger on that amount of purchase, unlike most lower level pets where I wouldn't even consider it.

How does one craft an epic fishing pole?

It's a level 3 task in the Simril Lightcrafting profession. You need a pole upgraded to blue (from other tasks) and I think 10 light clusters.

Got mine today and yes it is so cute , just wish that they didn't expect us to lay out 1.25 million AD to boost its heal and regen powers.

If I farmed anything for 200 hours, I wouldn't be happy about it, I would be bitter about it.

Is that fawn good for cleric (on lvling and high-end)? Or much better for dps classes i.e. CW?
I have 2 low-lvl toons now and can`t decide which one should get fawn (no way I will farm for 2 of them!).

My, ahem ... Sword Knot ... busting HR keeps harassing me for one of them ... Every time I use auto-run and go past either the vendor in WF or the display in PE she stops! I swear! ... I've told her NOPE, you can have the Bow and the Axes ... But she hates them apparently, because they don't go with her "Ninja" look, but then she get's all squishy and emotional about that d**m Fawn ...

I'm not sure that a Cleric 'needs' a Healer companion, so I would say it should be a reasonable choice for any of the Solo/DPS classes ... Whether it's better than the free "Generic Magnetic Cleric" (plagiarized from another member) is debatable ...
Is it finally a T5/U/T6 KDF Science Ship?
