I got a $20 card for my bday. What should I get? (I'm new)

Hello everyone.

I got a $20 card for the game for my bday and I was wondering what you recommend I get with it. Right now I have a 38 dwarf gwf. It's my only character and I'm still relatively new to the game. I would ask guildmates but I'm also not in a guild yet :/

Thanks for any suggestions

Honestly, $20 or 2000 Zen isnt that much in this game.

Id either save it and get another 1000 Zen, then buy myself a purple mount that unlocks for your whole account (and any future characters you make)

    OR

Id buy a couple extra character slots (in-game through Zen shop; not on character select window) then convert the rest into AD and spend it in the AH on decent enchants or gear.

EDIT: Also, watch for sales on things that are of interest to you. Right now the white tiger mount is 25% off, but I think the sale changes every week or so.

    welcome to neverwinter!

white tiger mounts are currently on sale. they're usually 3500z but are currently priced at 2650, so for 650z more, you could get one. zen store mounts are account wide. all of your characters can claim them. here's the link:

Would probably be a good idea to transfer the ZEN into AD as the rate is near the maximum right now and should fall. (Theoretically it could rise a bit but that is unlikely and even so would only be a small amount).

When Greater Bags of Holding are on sale (1000ZEN usually), transfer the enough AD back to ZEN and get at least one of those. Trust me it will really help and you can easily mail it to any future alts or even sell it on the AH as it is not bound.

When you hit 60, buy some cheap BLUE level 60 gear for all your slots - this barely costs anything and gives you 90% of the benefit of the far, far more expensive (low Tier) Purple Epic gear.

Purple mounts do not need training. Training is to bring white/green/and blue mounts up-to purple level. A purple mount is already at maximum and will give you slightly twice the speed (110%) of your running speed. When I buy mounts I only do purple for the "biggest bang for the buck" as it were.

Yes a purple mount is a good choice. Keep an eye at the special offers in Zen market, some weeks there is a big discount, such as the one when the purple worg was 1750 Zen.

I'd buy 2 or 4 more character slots and convert the remaining Zen to Astral Diamonds to buy green leadership Man-at-Arms. They are extremally cheap now (14K AD each) and you can use them to level up you leadership profession on all your characters.

I have 6 level 60 characters with leadership level 20 that generate 144K refined AD per day just buy doing leadership taks, praying daily and playing PvP once a week. You don't need anything more to reach the 24K cap on each. I just created by 7th, the ranger, so it will take some weeks until she can generate good amount of AD, but it worths it.

If you are playing one toon only, I would buy an Ioun stone. Either convert to AD and buy the cat from the AD store, which may be cheaper, or get the stone from the zen store.

If you are going to play many toons, the mount for 2000 zen that is purple would rock for you.

personally I'd save it until a purple mount is on sale for 50% as far as pure utility goes

OP, if you can wait, work on accumulating some astral diamonds in order to be able to buy the Stormrider Clydesdale for 2500 Zen, wait for a mount to go on sale for 2000 Zen or less, or make a compromise like getting the tier-2 horse for 1500 Zen and 2 extra character slots for 500 Zen...

I wouldn't buy any equipment. There is always better to be found out there.
Sharandar drops free good L60 Blue items. If you buy stuff, you'll outgrow it.

A purple ride makes sense because you can't outgrow or improve on it,
and it's free to any other characters you make. (Upgrading a mount
has a huge cost to it, so don't buy green and expect to upgrade later!)

I wouldn't buy enchants as they're a mess to upgrade right now, and
they don't matter til late in the game.

Companions... Currently none can handle an end game boss and live
long enough to be useful. I'd stick with the grey ones and try to
win the green during special events.

I bought the largest Bag of Holding and extra Bank Slots.
You will need the room as the game goes along!

Definitely wait for a Sale on anything you buy for Zen!

Buy some keys, trade a few for gold then trade a few for AD then use a few.

If you are into the professions thing the booster packs might be nice too ... again a gambling thing though.

I got my owl bear on my 7th key ever used. If you get a mount ... its your choice sell it for AD or use it. But the account wide mount is nice to buy as well and a sure thing.

If you are good at the AH use some AD to invest and try to make some money flipping stuff.

$20 bux would get you 20 keys if you added a little extra AD converted to Zen. 10 keys as a bundle deal would cost you 1125 zen I believe.

I wouldn't buy keys. Once you've used them, they're gone. Gold really isn't that difficult to earn enough to buy whatever you need with it, and if you want astral diamonds, just sell your Zen directly and avoid the auction house taking a cut.

The odds of getting a mount or companion using $20 of keys is astronomically low. Invest in something that will last a long time.

I would recommend getting an augmented companion such as the Ioun Stone of Allure (Max rank 25 unless upgraded to 30) or Ioun Stone of Might. (Max rank 20 unless upgraded to 30) Use the Zen to buy the companion through the Zen market because it will be cheaper. I currently just a maxed lvl 30 Ioun Stone of Allure for my 60 GWF.

Myself I would buy keys...last set of keys i used 5 of them and recieved a hunters rare bow (the one that levels as you level).... I sold it for 400k. Keys I think right now are worth around 60k in AH last i checked and there is a reason they recently raised in price from 40k each. Also they can go for 120 gold each atm. Like I said before I am not suggesting you use all your keys... of course a key would be lost after you use it, but great news once you use one you get treasure!...derp.

As a new player, I'd bet dollars to donuts you get a better drop off your first 10 keys because they want to get you hooked on it 8) Good Luck.

Also if you have gold, you can then buy trade materials or crafting tools and sell them for a AD profit in AH. This helped me get started... selling solvent in AH (bought with gold from the vendor) for AD. It was surprizing how many people were buying things like charcoal and solvent and rocksalt from AH with AD instead of going to the vendor and getting it with gold. This is why I believe people like to say gold is useless, to hide this AD making stratedgy.

Right now, 'man-at-arms' workers for leadership are pretty cheap, at about 15K ADs each. Converting some of your Zen to ADs, (while the exchange rate is kinda high), could work to your favor, and those workers can provide a great head start in generating additional ADs via Leadership tasks.

In general, though, if you plan on sticking around for a while, a mount and extra character slots are your best bet...

Go with an epic <purple> mounts like a lot of people were saying or if you hate unloading the junk you can get every few quests or go into a dungeon and you forget to make room to get even more junk it can be annoying and slow down your game play. Only get the larger bags of holding on the toons that you know you will be on a lot even when you hit 60 cuz they're not too cheap. With having at least three of them <i think> you could easily finish the entire area from start to finish before you had to empty out the junk. But the the purple mounts are the best bet. It's not only fast but you are able to take more hits as well than the other mounts.

I got $50 worth of Zen during the Charge Rewards promotion, and the first thing I bought was a purple mount (at the time, all horses were on sale) and it was the best investment I ever made. I'm playing 2 characters right now and being able to get everywhere faster on both of them is great. I'm saving most of the rest of the Zen for stuff that goes on sale in the market.

Welcome to neverwinter :) I have to agree, Purple mount for sure. It is the most functional thing you can get. Like stated before hold off until one goes on sale you can afford. I recently bought an Ioun stone of allure all with in game AD, it can be done and it only took a month. (probably would have been much less for the average player but the loot roll gods were not in my favor at all) Because I waited and saved and strategized to get it I love the **** thing and it feels very special to me and was a very rewarding achievement.

So far, a mount has been my best investment. I got it when I only had 2 characters. I now have 8, and each one has been able to claim that epic mount, with no additional cost.

OP, if you're still out there, and haven't spent your Zen yet, wait until tomorrow to see what goes on sale, and/or whether anything cool and new gets added...
