omg every single time I have to chat with an NPC, they go into a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG monologue.

A minute after accepting the quest, and I'm a half mile down the road, i'm STILL listening to the monologue. Seriously?

I got three NPC's talking to me in the Dread Ring zone. It's to the point where I turn down my speaker volume whenever I travel thru there or Sharandar. SHUT UP!!!

Here's a few ideas:
1. If you move more than ONE FOOT away from the NPC, it should shut up.
2. There should be a key press to get the NPC to shut up.
3. There should be a settings option to get all NPC's to shut up.

SSSSSSSSSSSS
HHHHHHHHHHHH
UUUUUUUUUUUU
TTTTTTTTTTTT

UUUUUUUUUUUU
PPPPPPPPPPPPPP
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't there an option to do this already? i have never actually used it but I think there was a button on the left-hand side of the screen to stop an NPC's dialogue.

Option 2 is already in game
    A world to defend
    A city to protect
    innocents to save
"Why?" They ask "they hate you"
We're heroes it's what we do.

I don't see any button to do this. What key?

tap - to make them stop if you want to hear them each time.

There's an option in audio settings to make NPCs mute after ending conversation. I turned that on and have apperciated it immensely.

Yup... it even says that you can push the - button (on your top keys, not your number pad) to make them cease speaking. This right next to their voice box when you're trying to run away from them.
    contents to be decided

Actually what we need is an option to change the accent OF EVERY DWARF IN NWO. I vomit in my mouth a little, every time I hear the "Scottish" accents on NPC's, like the guy in helms hold ... eck ... See there I go again, dry retching just thinking about it.

As far as the other dialogues go, I always listen to them, even though I've heard them all dozens of times before, but then I'm an RP'ing nut in that regard. I actually read those Lore entries, and listen to dialogues, as if it was the first time.
Is it finally a T5/U/T6 KDF Science Ship?
