CWs and Life Steal

So I was just goofing around and I thought, hey, since I have all of these Drake seals anyway, why not buy a bunch of jewelry that will give me Life Steal and see how that goes?

So I got:
3x Minor Grand Berserker Ring of Cleaving (2 for me, 1 for kitty)
1x Minor Grand Priest Belt of Burning Light
2x Demonweb Wrap, from AH (has more LS than Drake seal jewelry and didn't have defense stats) - again 1 for me, 1 for kitty
1x Blessed Belt of Restoration, for kitty, because I needed some power and recovery along with the Life Steal after changing all the jewelry out

I didn't mess with the other enchantments on my main pieces, just the jewelry. Those have 1x Rank 7 Dark in offense, 1x Rank 7 Azure in offense, and 1x Rank 7 Azure in defense.

And I enchanted the jewelry with some relatively modest Rank 5 Dark's (mainly) just to try it all out. I managed to get LS up to about 1100, which corresponded to 8.5% damage converted into healing. The tradeoff is that my Critical Strike and Defense went down as I had to enchant Darks to keep the ArPen up, when otherwise I would have been freer to enchant Azures. Even still, my Critical Chance is still right at about 30%. Also my power went down by a little bit.

So I found that while wandering around Sharandar, I didn't have to use any potions at all. Normally I would have to use potions in between battles (I don't have HV so I don't have the benefit of its regeneration stat). Fighting Celadaine was easier too. I haven't really tried it out on a dungeon yet, that is next.

Overall though I find that I'm kinda liking it, and in my implementation it was rather cheap to pull off since I already had a bunch of seals. But one downside is that it will require a *lot* of Dark enchants, which are the most expensive type. I know that if I want to go further then I should think about swapping out the robe's defensive Azure enchant with a Dark as well, for Life Steal, as well as upgrade the other Darks, but that's gonna get spendy. So, before I spend a lot more AD on this project, does anyone else have any experience with Life Steal, whether it can be made viable as a real CW strategy? If so, what is a good target to get Life Steal up to?

I've been using a bit of lifesteal for a while with very similar equipment to you on my stone (Demonweb wrap and Greater Icon of Retribution on my stone). The Ancient Berserker rings were pretty cheap too so I use a couple of those myself. I currently have a Master Slaver's ring for the stone but a plain old Nefarious Ring of Restoration for around 100 AD is looking quite tasty at the moment : 133 Power, 133 Crit and 100 LS.

Currently at 683 which gives 5.7% damage as HP, which is nice in dungeons along with a bit of Regen too. As you say, it's a pretty cheap stat to equip.

life steal is a good stat if you can get it over 1k mark. Which can be difficult considering the other stats you maybe trying to stack.

I would suggest for stone to use the icon you mentioned have undeath ring (crit/reco/arp) with dark enchantment in defensive slot. some +lifesteal neckless (demonweb maybe?)

then you would likely need power/arp/lifesteal rings on your main character. and perhaps more.

It becomes alot easier in module 2. as we will get +2000-3000 extra stats. When that comes along i will most likely be stacking lifesteal to 10% + power.

I have over 1.2k (most of which is on my stone) for my PvE set and it's amazing. Especially with my consistent damage from CoI, Icy terrain, steal time, and all the storm spell procs from those I heal back to full from 50% in a couple seconds. You are constantly topping yourself off, saving the DC some trouble (not to mention you don't even have to stand in the circle most of the time) and saving pots.

I used to have a 1800 life steal build just for fun, and it's a massive buff to survivability. Shard crits are more than a full heal at that point. Now I'm down to 800 or so, and only because I'm too cheap to completely redo my gear. But honestly, every damage dealer should have some. Especially with the massive AoE damage we put out, wizards should have at least 5% (~600).

im at 1440 life steal atm and its awesome, though about 620 is from items ill switch out when i get better, and i should get a bit more when i upgrade my pets items. i will try to stay above 1k life steal
getting some 6k heals in dungeons is easy, crit SotEA and u got yourself 10k+ heal. as long as u can cast skills u can only be killed with 10k++ hits, chain cc or a bunch of archers. i can easily kite FH last boss sustaining with just life steal, cast oppressive in a large bunch and its full heal
