What is the Fire Mage-specific class feature that is intended to replace Eye of the Storm?

EotS is a part of the current Paragon Path /: So no, you would not have it as you have to chose between the new one and the current one. There is a lot of potential in the new path, but we will have to wait until it comes out to see things like, overall damage, cooldowns, how the smoulder refresh works, etc.
But I have strong doubts that it will be better than Spellstorm Mage /:
I have been very disappointed about the new Paragon Path when I played it on the preview server yesterday. It seems like it would be VERY dot dependend and so does need a lot of crit since you are missing EOtS .. it also lacks in dmg because you won't have Storm Spell ... Imagine how powerfull this could be if at least every DoT could procc a Storm Spell

Yep /: plus you lose SotEA also, which is pretty key.
You do not lose SotEA, the encounter for Spellstorm is Sudden Storm, that gets replaced by a fire dot like ability. It seems as if the new paragon is a crit focused DoT spec, yet the daily cannot crit (from my experience at least on preview) and the smolder dot does absolutely terrible damage. The only way I could see this being good is if it was combined with appropriate armor pen (ofc) with massive amounts of crit and power AND the new 4 piece bonus. The new bonus procs a dot that does aoe damage on your target with no rate limit, meaning an aoe dot build which has a lot of little pieces of damage could proc this a lot. Only way I see this competing with the current paragon at all. Extremely disappointed >.<

Oh! Youre right. No shard loss. But still, seems worse than the current.

What is the new 4 piece bonus? Will it be something that we will have to grind the new dungeon for 10,000 times before it drops?

Good morning, dear pessimists!
What can I say... guys, if you have a doubts, why u just won't run a few ACT tests? Everyone who claimed it sucks, did you actually test it, or just tossed few hits on dummies and gave up?
Well, I tested it and I can say if you want really high single-target damage, fire renegade is for you. I tested it with perfect vorpal (I know it kinda sucks for this path - was thinking about feytouched or smth.. cant find appropriate enchantment yet, honestly) and had 30k "fanning the flame" encounter crits. Whole rotation outdamages standart stormspell renegade by around 20% without enchants, and around 5-7% with Vorpals (which, again, sucks for this this path).
Main idea behind this - 2 new passives + smolder ticks have FAR better synergy with arcane missles and arcane based damage overall, than SS/EotS.
Though, it sucks beyond bad for everything else, not using arcane missles as at-will, especially for heavy frost builds.. (which is kinda logical, you know, fire + frost xD)
Astronax could you give us an idea of what encounter rotation you found synergized best with the fire paragon. I have been thaum for so long but would be nice to go back to rene.

I used single target rotation. More like pvp one. Though, for real good pvp build it slightly lacks CC, since you almost forced to run with "fanning the flame" and RoE and actually missing CC encounters. =(
With this rotation:
And those feats:
I'm not claiming its ideal or smth - it's just set I was running with and outdamaged my own spellstorm mage's renegade.
That was just an example - new path is viable, cool and balanced.
Note: in case you want dem CC and fire coolnes both, and running arcane missles, SoEA on tab with fire path might be worthy thing to try, actually. (since SoEA has terrible bad synergy with SS/EotS)
Alright I was just wondering, I tried out something similar and made a "dot" spec for pvp, which was RoE on tab, fanning, entangling, conduit as thauma. Since this is apparently such a crit friendly build I took your advice and tried rene as well. It seemed to do respectable damage but then of course I logged onto live and hit someone with ice rays for 20k as thauma when EotS procced...
I believe that the new paragon has the potential to do better single target damage but I am worried that it will lack in pve encounters. I will have to do some testing on the aoe damage, maybe try to get a dungeon run together on the preview shard.
edit: I am optimistic that in cases where things live for a decent amount of time a thaumaturge build running the new paragon could pull good numbers in dungeons, tbd though.
I can see this maybe being better for single target rene, but there's no way it's better for single target thaum. And the loss of storm pillar for charging AP out of combat is kind of annoying (not gamebreaking by any stretch, but annoying).

Agreed. With most dungeons featuring a rather small amount of mobs that survive more than one rotation of 2-3 CWs sending in shards I'm afraid that it'll be inferior for speed oriented dungeon clears. But this is just me guesstimating.
With just a brief look and pretty much no testing, the new Paragon path seems disappointing.
Giving up EOTS...bareable. Giving up StormSpell...not really acceptable.
Picking up dots that can be spread AOE...nice but not super.
The Paragon encounter ability...sure it does great single target damage, but requires a stack of mobs around the target with smolder. Why would i want to use an encounter spot up for a single target attack in a fat group of mobs as a CW?
Only thing I really liked about it was the final daily. Looked like a good replacement for Singularity.
Now if the dots proc lightning weapon enchants.....hmmm...will have to check that.
Edit: And no, the dots do not proc Lightning Weapon. 600-700dps on 3 target dummies from smolder....naw not worth it.

I am guessing that Critical Conflagration is supposed to be the analogue of Eye of the Storm for Flame Master?
