Yep Same thing here. Load the launcher, enter password, error detected in game..... scan or no scan makes zero difference, when the play button is hit the client crashes. This then prompts the Cryptic Error screen that will disappear shortly after.
Gotta Get this worked out and soon.

Started Launcher. It recommended to check files - i accepted. After that Launcher said "game ready". Then i pressed play. Cryptic screen. Crash. Then a small window pops up telling me that there is a collection of information about this crash going on. When it finsihes it says it is an unknow error and closes.
add my name to the list of all the people getting this very same crash.
I'm kinda miffed, too, because I have several characters that are 6/7 on their invocations and about an hour or so before those go to 0. when I got up this morning to do them at my usual time, we were in maintenance, and now... CRASH! I don't suppose there's a way to keep people affected similarly from losing their progress, is there?

Ok so I can confirm the cancel then hit patch does work. Took a couple of tries though because the button changed so fast the first few I never even saw the patch button. Fourth time it did pop up and everything was good to go.
Hey all - thanks for the reports on this. Can you please provide more information, including:
-When you're seeing the crash - is it always at the Cryptic loading screen?
-What are your base system specs (at least CPU, GPU, and OS)
Thanks!
I have 2 computers both are Intel I5 CPU, Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS but the one with windows XP 32bit runs fine. My system with Windows 7 64bit crashes when I see the Cryptic loading screen. As others have stated it crashes at the cryptic loading screen a bug report windows pops up and within seconds disappears and restarting Neverwinter it wants to verify files, everything looks fine until I press the play button and it crashes again.
