It has been months now with the same foundrys in both best and new tabs. My Foundry made it to the best tab for one day. Then the patch comes out and now the best tab is only showing 4.14 or higher. Mine is 4.13 with almost 1000 plays. I have worked hard to get it to the best tab. Everyday posting my foundry in zone chat only to get a few plays. I have been working on it for months.

How will you keep the new authors interested if they cant even get on the new tab.

I am frustrated and would rather you go back to the old foundry catalog. The one that worked properly.

I agree this has been a right pain - it's hard enough to get people to play foundries, now they do not even get a choice, so those that do show up get over played - Unfair - Please FIX.

I also agree they should change the way foundries are listed in the catalog. The NEW tab should only list actually new foundries.

There should also be a shuffle button for all the tabs. This will randomize what is on the first page of each tab so it is not the same foundry with 50k-100k plays that gets all the attention every day. Some players actually believe these are the only foundries.

Indeed. I thought the quests in the "new" tab were suppose to rotate out after 21 days. That hasn't happened.

Until it's fixed, I've been using a work around. If you type a random word in the "new" tab search box (such as magic or sword or castle), you will receive a list of mostly new quests. It shouldn't have to be this way though.

    THIS.

Every time I see the old quests in 'New' tab, I feel like I get a kick in the teeth from Cryptic.

Before the change, my "Wayward child" earned almost 100 plays pretty quickly before disappearing into the void, but it was quite high on the New listing. These days the only plays I get from "Absence of light" are the ones I trade reviews for.

Once it disappears from the listings... well, let's just say I spent more than three months on just maps and the current system is not doing the new quests any justice :/

Yes, I am making quests because I like the creative process of it, but I also would like for someone to enjoy my work, without having to beg for plays, okay? If quests don't show up on the listings I feel discouraged and don't really want to invest my time in things no one will ever see.

Here's a suggestion to improve quest visibility... Get rid of the "Best" and "New" altogether. In their place, how about four tabs, sorted by number of reviews (or number of plays). Something like this:

    >500 Reviews
    <500 Reviews
    <50 Reviews
    <5 Reviews

This way, quests don't automatically disappear after a set amount of time, but gradually migrate from tab to tab. If it takes a just-published quest a month to get 5 reviews, that's fine; it just stays on the on the <5 until it moves to the next tier.

Within each tier, list from highest adjusted rating to lowest.
The Green Zone (NW-DP66H66F6): Train at a top-secret Goblin military installation.
Hive Mind (NW-DN9YKEVUS): Get inside a crashed alien ship to discover its purpose.
Absolute Zero (NW-DOVUXHT8P): Activate a massive teleportation machine to pursue an evil mastermind.

    Thought I would bump this.

Cryptic really need to take note of these basic problems. It is a travesty that the 'new' tab is full of quests that were out before the official release of the game. It's cringe worthy, a joke and until the devs can be bothered to fix it, I can't be bothered to play or make any more quests.

While I haven't been exactly rushing through building my next foundries, the fact that this is broken doesn't make me feel like working any faster.
Don't want to get them finished, only to have 5 people (on the For Review) see them in-game.

It would be nice to get some sort of acknowledgement that the devs know it's an issue...

It goes further.....even if quests rotate by what ever means when you do a search you only get a very small list to choose from-were is the next/more button to flip through the list. as to the new tag system total waste of programming time and space.
Then if you are extremely lucky to have your quest listed there is little to no incentive for anyone to play it if it's longer than 15 mins and not a daily.

Foundry is the one really good thing about this game, and they are still dropping the ball.

They need a modern, up to snuff search system.

You need to be able to easily search for stuff you want. You need to be able to get some smart matching (I rated X and Y highly, what missions did people also like who also rated X&Y highly?), to find missions friends or respected reviewers have liked, and so on.

Cryptic has _no excuse_. None. They've had several YEARS of these issues with STO Foundry, and I've frankly almost given up all hope they're ever going to get their thumb out and recognize how poor the current system is.

As was pointed out by multiple people familiar with Cryptic's handling of sto ugc, this is exactly what was going to happen. Kirksplat even still posts here once in a while on this.

Yeah, I've been fiddling with the Foundry, but don't see much point in bothering to create content. It would usually be right up my alley, but I'm not interested in creating stuff, just so that it can be quickly bumped by the same missions that have been featured and up top since I started... in Beta. I love this game, but it's stuff like this that makes me lose faith in Cryptic - it's a pretty massive failure in what should be the heart of the game.

    OK,
I am a optimistic person. I like to find solutions to problems. I bet some good authors would not mine volunteering their time to help fix this mess. I read that they dont have a dedicated foundry team. SO LETS MAKE ONE :)

You know it's funny Cryptic say the foundry is an integral part of the game, yet here we are with legitimate concerns and no, I repeat no, acknowledgment of any kind by anyone - it's as if it has been swept under the carpet. Other non important things rate a comment but not this or our continued insistence that we need a timer added -silence - why has the pic of the week stopped? instant response nuf said.

Yes this is a problem and needs some attention. It's never been able to give much of a search choice since beta.

There are hundreds of quests not shown - the new tag system is just not working as people are NOT setting it on quest completion.

A simple next button to bring up the next x number of quests in the current search would go a long way to fixing this.

These days, I get a lot of idea for maps and get excited, thinking "oh, I could do this, then make it that way" and things like that. And then I think about the fact that almost no one will ever see those maps... so why waste my time on making them? :(

Still no response or acknowledgement about this, obviously cryptic think it's working as planed - if so that spells doom for most peoples quests to be suck into to ever growing black hole of unreachable ones (without the specific sort code that is) shame.

Your foundry is also on the "new"tab. You dont see a problem with that? Clearly your foundry is not new. Just as long as your foundry is on the best tab your "OK" with this broken system....

I would like to see new authors get on the new tab. My foundry was on both best and new tabs. I still think its broke and would like other authors to come to light. Not just the same old foundrys everyday.

I find your response to be a tad bit selfish. That is just my opinion.

I'm not a Foundry Author...yet. But I do play a Foundry-only character. I have played the majority of Foundries that have shown up in Best and New. Now, if I want to play a Foundry with an actual storyline rather than being a pure grindfest, I have to do the half-done Review Foundries.

As a Foundry Purist, I also am concerned about this. I need to see more Foundries for me to choose from.

    - My other character still does the main content for the game. It's just the char mentioned above that is Foundry Purist.

Yay! (But... um... before another "complete overhaul" can you just make the New tab work like it did before? Stuff used to drop off there after X days...)

Farm foundries are currently taking over the "best: quests tab. This is an issue that I hope will be fixed at some point.
