More fun for everyone

The forum is full of posts from people complaining about this or that - but that is what the post below is about. I do like the game - I have spent a lot of time (and a bit of money) on it, and I would like to see the game survive and grow.

However, the key to long-term viability of any game is how fun it is, and what reputation it has - is this a game that people will not only continue to play, but will recommend to their friends? THe thing is, however, that the player base can be divided into multiple segments, and what one segment considers fun is completely irrelevant to others.

I believe that by putting more effort into making the game fun for all segments of the player base, the player base would grow, and we would all enjoy a better experience - and ensure the long-term viability of the game.

So, here is what I would like to ask - if you identify yourself as a member of a particular segment of the player base, what single change would make the game more fun for you and other people in that segment - and I'm not talking about things like "fix bugs".

I'll start with a few examples:

PvP players: One reason some people enjoy PvP is because they are competitive by nature, so give them more things to compete for - leaderboards or "top PvP" lists - by class, level range and overall. Also give them something to spend the Glory points on - maybe items that only work in PvP.

Achievement collectors: Make it possible for people to get all the achievement points - there are a few that are not obtainable (like the Icespire one), and if you outlevel and skip a skirmish those points are currently lost.

Spanish speakers: I speak only a little Spanish myself, but a lot of people worldwide do - with no Spanish translation, you are not attracting that segment as well as you could.

Explorers: Some people enjoy exploring everything, leaving no quest unfinished, no resource unused, no part of the map unexplored - and no foundry unfinished. The problem is that if you do "everything", you level up too fast and outlevel the areas before you really finish them. Give people the option to stop XP gain, or reduce the XP gains somehow.

Solo PvE players: Some people don't like teaming up with others, and only interact with other players through the AH. They hate the idea of 20+ man raids and even 5-man dungeons, but prefer to explore the world solo. Give those people more solo content, like the Feywild content - it is a great addition for this segment.

Crafters: Some people really enjoy crafting items, but to make them happy crafting needs to be financially viable - not just a money/time sink. If recipes require very rare components, lots of time and effort that is fine...if the rewards are worth it. Currently all we have is reinforced bracers (for your own use), and a few items that can be sold for more than the cost of materials, like dyes and gemmed shirts/pants.

"Replayers": Some people enjoy the leveling a lot more than the "end-game" content, and level up one alt after another. To make that process more fun, add more variability - race/class/gender/deity-specific quest lines for example. Right now we have only a single, short race-specific quest line.
Hoping for improvements...

People whining is a fact of life. I blame parents for not letting kids know that they don't matter and nobody cares.

However these ideas are fantastic! Seriously, this is constructive. Personally I could get behind all of these ideas (especially the pvp and solo content ideas). Thank you sir for offering constructive ideas instead of more QQing.

While bug fixes so all achievements can be obtained and ability to do skirimishes after you level them would be nice, I think the best thing they could do for achievement collectors like me is just expand them.

Right now achievements are pretty barebone. The game needs more achievements that add both depth and breadth to the system.

Depth - Add more achievements that require lot of work and give rewards. Right now only the foundry achievements have any real rewards besides title. It's not that I don't like titles as rewards, because I do, but I would like to see some other rewards like fashion items, unique mounts, and unique companions.

Breadth - Add more achievements for doing unique things in the game. These can just give achievement points or also give titles. Not looking for a lot of unique rewards here. Things like the zone specific collection and exploration perks that CO has. Maybe challenge achievements where you have to defeat a certain boss/dungeon meeting a requirement. Like for example, for the final boss in the Fardelver's Crypt, killing his mount before he can saddle back up. Also just fun little achievements like for opening 500 mimic chests. More crafting achievements besides just hitting X level. Stuff like crafting X number of greens, blues, and purples. Doing gathering missions, etc.

That is probably a bit more than you were asking for, but what can I say, I like achievement systems in MMOs and I find Neverwinter's system a bit lacking.

None of the above? Group PvE would be my choice.

You misunderstood - I did not ask people to pick one of my ideas - I asked people to suggest one thing that would make things more fun for the playerbase segment they identify with - so, if you consider yourself to belong to the "Group PvE" senment, the question is - what single addition/change would make the game more fun for you? More varied boss fights? More dungeons? Epic skirmishes? Something else ?
