How come it is possible to automatically copy ours "toon" on the preview server but not on a live server ?

Don't get me wrong, but isn't that the same mechanic ?

I don't see why we don't have a character transfer services.

We don't have character transfers because having the live server split into 3 is supposed to be temporary. Their plan is to merge the 3 into one.

Another reason is anti-cheating. It doesn't matter when you copy a character to the preview-server, but if you could copy it back too, you could start duplicating just about everything by copying characters back and forth.

as far as I could hear(in interview and stream), they are not planing on merging the shard unless the 3(shard) are underpopulated, so we might never see it happen.

what are you talking about ? I'm not speaking of copying a toon from preview server to live,

I'm only saying that they are already using a system to copy from live to preview , why not use it to copy from live to live and then delete the original one, all in a automated process like we have right now for live to preview.

You mean from one shard to another? Actually, that would be pretty nice. Probably they'd make it a revenue stream or AD sink (transfer token), but still, yeah, that'd be nice.

the tool that copies a toon from the live shard to the preview shard is only intended to allow you to test the preview material using your current toon. this can be a helpful feedback tool especially when buffs/nerfs happen. you can also test respecs on the preview.

a service that allows you to move from one shard to the next would not only need to copy your toon to the new shard, it would have to delete your toon from the current one. the only reason i can think of that you'd want to do that is if you erroneously created a toon on the wrong shard. there'd be no advantage to jumping from shard to shard. or change in game play.

ok let me put you into context. I began playing the game on one shard with some ppl, they all left the game soon after, then I find a new guild but they are on another shard... I want to switch my toons there but I can't. I'm not gonna buy extra toons slot and start over....
in practically every other mmo we can do character transfer, why not here?

And you know what, in the current guild I'm in, there are several members that are on different shard that all wish to come on the guild one.

Here another scenario. you meet wit a old friend of you. you discover that he play neverwinter on dragon server, you are on mindflayer....

And there are surely many other reason that I can't think of atm

Well, that's certainly not as promised. (Nobody needs to reply to me with snark about business models or whatever. I know. Everybody has already heard it.)

IRT why would you want to change shards
Lots of people have friends on different shards they'd like to play with, and had been told it didn't matter because they'd be merged soon(TM), which has also been the party line from the CMs. Reasons? Wanting to play with someone they already knew but they made a mistake about the shard at creation. They've encountered a person or guild that's a good fit for them on the forums but is located on a different shard. Or even they have characters on multiple shards but would like to play the one that happens to be located on Dragon with friends made on Mindflayer.

The other big reason is transferring wealth via the exchange (apparently doesn't work between shards) and items via mail (definitely doesn't work between shards).

All these concerns are supposed to be irrelevant due to eventual merging.
