Unplayable lag

For the past 3 days now I have been catching terrible terrible lag. Unplayable at that. My character will still be in the animation of fighting doing 0 damage, but taking damage at the same time. Sometimes I wont be able to even do the animation of fighting and just standing there taking damage. I thought maybe it was my internet but i have a 10 down/ 1 up (not the best by any means). Is anyone else getting lag like this or any suggestions that might fix this for me?

Forgot to mention which server you are on and your location.

I just left the Dragon server, had no issues with lag. It it the weekend though and the European and Oceanic areas always seem to suffer a bit with lag now. If you are US based, clean your cache, clear your cookies, take out the temp file trash.

Except for loading areas (if you haven't disabled patch on demand) your 10/1 speeds won't really matter much.
What matters is your geographical location, that of your party members (if applicable) and your ISP and their net policies (peering and such).

The ISP and location are the determining factors not only because of distance lag but also on how nice they play with their "net neighbors" (is their peering a horrible choke point? Have they annoyed their peers so that they only provide as little bandwidth as possible?).
Also important is their routing policy. If they do aggressive least cost routing your route probably is much longer than otherwise possible. QoS I'm not sure how much it matters these days.

And yes, I have played the top level skirmish today and all was fine except the boss fights, where things would dissolve to a slide show for me. Obviously all the AOE and huge amounts of trash (pretty high powered party, I'm sure they generated more trash in a shorter time than lower powered parties) lead to more events/time than my current connection from europe to a probably pretty heavily loaded american net could handle in a timely manner.

Edit: server load probably won't help either with more people doing the same as you are.

Did this and relogged, first run through Protectors enclave with no lag :)

If you hate the lag here, don't try Path of Exile

For me the lag is very schizophrenic. I can go for hours with no issues at all, and then I get hit with the LagHammer. I will rubberband, lose connection, freeze for 10 seconds, rubberband some more, server time out, etc. I have been unable to determine if this is zone specific but it seems to hit in all zones. I am not talking about a slight slow-down while in the Enclave surrounded by a bunch of people, but a lag-fest while in a solo dungeon.

I have a good connection, experience little or no lag in other games and have nothing else running in the background. This is not really a complaint as much as it is a statement of my situation. I hope they can get to the root of the issue.

I don't know why, but their servers have some terrible routing. At least once a week for several hours I will get constant lag spikes. And its always some router in between me and neverwinter that decides it wants to take a HAMSTER and slowly die... That may be your problem....

You could always just play like another game that has better servers.... thats what I do when its like that.
