More Friendly Encounter Types

I've been working with the foundry for a few weeks now, slowly but surely getting the hang of it and creating my first foundry quest. However one thing that remains to bother me is the lack of friendly encounter variations. There are a wide variety of enemy type encounters that vary in their tactics and appearance; but none of these variances for friendly encounters leave what I could've created limited.

All we can do is reskin the encounter NPCs to make them look like who we want and match them to a specific mob so they act that way too. But that's only if they're the enemy. That's cool, but I don't want to make an NPC follower that'll just cower in the corner as I fight or be ignored by enemies like a leper. It just breaks the immersion you may want to build if you tell the player, "This is the protagonist of the quest and he's stern and will fight to achieve his goals.", and then the guy either passes by like no f***** were given, or stands their like a kid waiting for a bully to take his lunch money until you save him. It's just odd.

There's only 1 ranged friendly encounter type and they're all archers; everything else is melee brutes. Sweet biscuits of Demonlord Zythd'k, even the Nashers had mages! Am I the only one who thinks this city's forces are extremely underdeveloped? I digress.

Anywho, what about Mages? Clerics? Rogues even?? Call me crazy, but I doubt the Neverwinter City Guard is just Wolverine'ing their way in and out of trouble. Someone has to be there healing their wounded, and someone has to be there providing the ranged support that archers can't. There were two mages in the opening cinematic. If anything, that should prove that the guards have more than just brute force and flying twigs at their disposal. Could there possibly be an adding of more friendly encounter types to the Foundry? At the very least, some basics ones that have the same powers as players(and possibly, dependent on player level, have skills to match accordingly).

I remember going on the The Cragmire Crypt Dungeon(I believe it was that one) and we fought a boss group known as "Competing Adventurer Group". Boy how fun that fight was as they had moves just like players and used them appropriately too(Curse that Control Wizard Rogue combo; almost killed me). Could we get that as a friendly encounter? I would love to make quest that have these encounters supporting you with magic, arrows, rogue trickery, and other things and not aren't escorting a timid grown man/woman to a destination. ok, I'm rambling now. Thanks for taking the time to read this though.

Hi friend. I agree with you, although I will say that we do have at least one group of friendly guards who have a mage with them. He's basically a fire mage who nukes whole groups of enemies, almost too quickly. :) I just used this group in my first work-in-progress; I believe it's one archer, the mage, and three melee types. I think it's one of the "Hard" groups.

Thank you for that. I will look into that encounter, but I still wish there were more. If I don't want a fire mage then I'm at a loss. And I wouldn't want a power force, just a friendly who can at the very least stay alive. I still vote they add more variances like mage groups and such for friendly encounters. =)

There is a whole section in encounters labeled "guards" that are friendly. I think there are 5 different types. It's not much and they die pretty quick if used in multiple encounters, but hopefully something in there will work for you.
NW-DPTTECLTF - Cindy Jones and the Holy Stein. A simple but hopefully entertaining foray into the world of Foundry.

I'd like a "Friend" toggle on ALL encounters. This way you could have quests where the Orcs are so overwhelmed with a problem that they'll even help you out (then you can use an Event to switch that toggle so you can kill them later). I think it'd be a lot easier than making an entire group of "friendies". Unfortunately I'm pretty sure this sort of thing can be abused...
*sings* "I like Gammera! He's so neat!!! He is full of turtle meat!!!"

"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

I'd be very happy to have a guard encounter of all playable classes (+hunter/ ranger). As it would fit my campaign, if I'm completely honest...

I really wanted a friendly rogue and a cleric for my story, but no. I guess I'll have to make that magnificent cleric I costumed just cower when he gets attacked. :(

"Friend" toggle on something other than an archer, sword-and-board fighter, and a fireballing mage? Yes, please. Even if they were just friendlies who did no damage and were immortal.

I'd like some individual friendly encounters besides the one we already got. As it is, if I wanted to have three wizards following the player, I'd have to do something about nine guards. I'd also like a decent Ranger encounter, not just a friendly one, but one for an enemy encounter too. There's a character I came up with, who uses a bow, that I can't really use in my story because the only archers I know of are minions and come in groups...

You can edit the encounter to get rid of the others individually as far as I can guess. Simply go to the component tree, select that specific encounter and delete the npcs in you don't like and leave the ones you do. I might be wrong though so don't count on that. I know that I can delete individual items in a cluster so it might work for encounters.

No you can't delete individuals from an entire "encounter" without deleting the entire encounter. thats the 1st thing i tried . It is really annoying, I have a ninja type character, who uses a shield because all the other "friendly encounters" have more than one character i can't delete. to pick an archer i have to have 3 of them ?? what is this HAMSTER. it shouldn't be to difficult to tweak this. I like the idea of the above mentioned toggle switch for friend or foe for the encounters. It will be an easy way to open up a lot of customizability options as far as npc characters go. Lets face it, its kind of a big part.
